Has anyone seen the anime or read the manga of Ranma 1/2 ? I've read the whole manga (at http://groups.msn.com/MangaDepotRanmaDepartment/) and it was really funny... though a little repetitive..... I was mostly wondering if anyone had seen the anime, so I could compare...

I've been thinking of buying the anime, but I'd probably have to get a job, first... I think there's about the same amount of episodes to Ranma as there are for Inuyasha... which means my wallet will start crying and I'll have to stay dressed in rags for a bit longer.. :'(

Oh well... A short synopsis of Ranma 1/2 :: Boy is betrothed to girl(s) he's never met. Boy (& father) fall in magical hotspring that curses them. Boy now turns into girl when touched with cold water. Boy and Father decide to go mooch off Boy's fiance(s). Everything gets veeeeeeery confused.

It doesn't help that Ranma's a top martial artist who's always getting into fights and things as well.....

Oh well... that's a sucky summary... but it's a good story. There are a few similarities between Inuyasha and Ranma (well, a LOT, really..) but Ranma's a bit less serious and has quite a few more less realistic situations... :D

go read...... or watch... :)

Just to let you know, You really should put summaries like that in spoiler tags or at least warn people. Wouldn't want to ruin the fun, no would we?

I read the first volume and I didn't like it that much. I guess that kind of manga doesn't appeal to me...

I saw a few episodes at a Sci-Fi/Fantasy Con a number of years ago and, as I recall, the quality of the animation was quite good; although there was certainly somewhat less "realism" than there is in "InuYasha". (i.e. Humans could do acrobatics/stunts that would be physically impossible for any except, say, "Cirque du Soleil"-type performers.)

Only up to vol 5 of the manga, stupid stores not gettin any past 5 in yet, well apart from a couple of the first print ones that cost more. Curse there being about 36 parts to it I already got money goin out before its in for other things. very funny so far though, maybe one day I'll get the anime as well but that'll be even more wallet busting than the manga probably

Sorry Sondagger although what I gave _really_ isn't a spoiler - you can find that all out within the first ten pages, as I'm sure you did when you read the first volume.

It's more comedy than anything else... And yeah, less realistic than Inuyasha..... but still a lot of fun.

If you're wanting to read more, Hawq, then just try out the link I posted above. It's not as great as the bought versions, but gives a good sample :)

I wasn't sure about the animation quality... I'll have to look into it a little more......
