I saw this last night and it had to be the strangest anime movie I've seen to date (though that ain't many ) - for those who haven't seen it, the movie is about an alien band called the Crescendolls who are kidnapped from their home planet by this baron, who has been spacenapping interstellar virtuosos for centuries and turning them into humans so that he can get golden records for their hit singles. The Crescendolls are made into humans and their alien memories replaced with human ones - they're then controlled by the baron pretending to be the band's manager, and their single hits number one and suchlike (the groupies are so funny). The evil manager needs one last golden record to achieve world domination with this strange machine, except another alien from the home planet intervenes and manages to stop the manager from controlling the band anymore, resulting in them breaking into the company headquarters to get their memories back.

I thought this was a very abstract movie - not a single word is spoken throughout, the animation is done entirely to the background of music by the French band Daft Punk. It's a good illustration of the groupie culture and the storyline is simple and easy to follow. I thought it was quite well done - even though they never say anything, you still sympathise with the displaced band members, though that damn spaceman who rescued them just wouldn't stay dead! ;) Any opinions on this movie? Apparently Daft Punk used clips from it as their music videos.
