So heres an orchestra piece I've been working on. I'm still working on adding a third movement, but this is what i got so far. I origionally came up with this on organ, and had this whole idea of a spooky cathedral scene in my head, but i decided i wanted to orchestrate it. This is what I got.

This is a little march thing i wrote with my old middle school band in mind.

This was a neat little thing I came up with meesing around on the piano. I think it sounds sorta liek a battle theme from an RPG. Still not done it, but i dont know what to do next with the piece so suggestions would be apppreciated. Also, about all my pieces, I am terrible at coming up with names, so all my pieces have bad generic names, so if someone is good with names sugggestions about that would be great too!!! THNX!! :D

reflection:
I love your harmonies, especially when the instruments all come together . . great stuff!

origional3:
Interesting, you're doing a symphony? You don't get many movements devoted to "spookiness" . . anyways, you've got really good instrumentation going on. Very dramatic, hehe.

Band1:
Reminds me of someone going into battle =P

clockword:
This bares a very strong resemblance to Bach's Fugue No. 10 in E minor from the WTC 1, with your own twist to it.

Thanks for the comments. For clockwork I did come up with the idea after working on the exact fugue. I knew it sounded like the fugue, but I'm hoping its not too much like it.

Unfortunately, it sounds very similar =\ . . go change it quick before you get yelled at!

*changing*
(plz excuse uncanny resemblance to bach's piece until then)
um, well heres another piece that i wrote after working on a bach prelude and fugue i believe it was N0. 2 WTC in C minor. ANYWAY, this hopefully doesnt sound a lot like a bach piece too.
I persoanlly dont like the ending I think its too repetitive and gets borring. Im working on that though :)!! I was thinking about doing some chromatics down to the origional key, then inverting the main theme. Your thoughts?
anyway, thanks for pointing out how much the clockwork piece resmebles bach, and please dont hold it against me. :/

Ok, so in listening to the midis of my pieces ( just converted from sibelius format, and didnt even bother to listen to them after i converted - shame on me), anyway, after i listened i realized just how bad midi really is. So does anyone have suggestions on how to make decent mp3s relatively easy and relatively cheap on a mac??

Your middle section is the best. You have strong instrumental writing in that part. I recomend that you turn that middle section into a separate piece!

Your transition to the final section is a bit awkward though, because it sounded like a false ending. Hmm, can you try another way to modulate to the minor key without making it seem like you're ending the song?

Since this piece isn't really fugal (I haven't heard the No. 2 C minor prelude/fugue yet, I think), I believe there isn't any real need for inverting, retrograde, etc. It's nice as it is. Feel free to add chromatics if you want.

Check the pinned topic for mp3 conversion from midi. Don't know if it'll work with a mac though.

Thanks, thats very helpful. And I'm failry positive it doesnt soidn anything liek that particular prelude and fugue, i was more checking to make sure it didnt sound liek some other bach piece since ive been practicing the entire WTC lately. intense bach study not fun. anyway, thanks :D

This an easier way to write trills. Half note or whole note and the little zig zag.

I know. I composed the pieces on sibelius, but when i converted to midi i lost all that nice stuff.
