I'm looking to get a 50'' t.v. The ones I'm looking at go for about 600 USD, but I'm hoping to get one for around 400.

I can't say I've done a whole lot of shopping around yet, but that's about the number I got from walking around Walkmart, Target, shopping online at Best Buy. Gonna check out Staples soon, pretty sure they have a t.v. section. Any tips for my t.v. adventure?

I say go with at least a 120Hz... especially if you're a gamer. Of course I think most 50" TVs are over 60Hz, but you never know. I personally like the LED screen better than LCD or plasma. It just looks... crispier. Try and get a smart TV that way you can, you know... watch youtube, listen to pandora and things like that. I would say pick Samsung, Panasonic, Sony or... wait I forget the other one. But try to stay away from LG.

Why do you not like LG? I have LG TVs and they're fantastic. I also have a 27" LG LED HD Flatpanel Monitor and it's awesome.

Sharp makes some good TVs. I wish I can buy their new 90" LED TV. :( But I don't have $10k to spare.

As far as the LG goes... I guess it's one of those things where I've heard from others that it's not that great... but I suppose not all LGs the same.
