Hi everyone. I'm a bit surprised that this forum doesn't have a new member introductions section...oh, well.

It's really nice to hear all these compositions from the members here, and that's the main reason why I just signed up - to lend encouragement where possible.

Anyway, I do play the piano and the guitar. I have some band and performing experience, but not as much as I would like to. But I guess the best way to introduce myself would to post a composition like everyone else.

Unfortunately, I'm more of a session musician-type than an actual composer, so I don't have much to show for it. The only thing I have online that's available is this recording of myself just, er, improvising on a key to gather ideas. I do that a lot, and for once I decided to record a part of that. Since it's just random playing, there's hardly any structure and no theme running through it, but hopefully I'll be able to pick on some ideas from it and actually compose a song based on it.

(file's about 5Mb)

Just in case you noticed, the file's on a site that I run. It's called AnimeChords, and stocks some anime tabs that I've done over the years. Nothing much. :)

Well, hope it doesn't hurt your ears!

There is an introduction thread pinned in the General Forum. A whole forum just for "Hi, I'm new here" threads all over isn't that effective =P

And for you song, I find it ver backgroundish. It's one of those songs you hear in the background of something, and unfortunately it's something you don't pick up. Pretty good improvisation though.

Oh, sorry about the new members thing. I wasn't interested in general chat, so I didn't even look inside there. ^^;

As for the music, I call it ambience, and it does precisely what the name says. It's background music, and it's the time where I sit down and test out ideas and moods. Since I just play as I go, it tends to be pretty backgroundish (and yes, forgettable), but then again, I did say that I don't have any other music online at the moment.

I'll see what I can dig up from my PC - maybe I have something recorded of me playing something other than forgettable tree-hugging, then. :)

That's some pretty good improvisation! Ah yes, nice mood/emotion . . get that theme/structure you mentioned and this'll be great =)
