what is the hardest game you've ever played???

say why it was so hard and how far you got into the game before you gave up or if you beat it just say how insanely difficult it was!

the hardest game i've ever played would have to be driver 3 because shooting games come easy to me and i suck at driving games but i still usualy pull off getting lucky and beating the game but driver was just insane!!! i had to stay a certain amount of distance within another car on the 2/3rd mission and i just couldn't do it, i even went on the enternet and got a walkthrough and i still couldn't do it!!! i may suck at racing games but i could tell that one took skill, especially on a harder difficulty. i've even beat gran turismo which is very long but i couldn't seem to beat that stupid mission!!

There was some half-assed NES game that was nearly impossible to beat the first level. I forget its name.

Get touched by an enemy once: little guy screams a midi scream and the bursts apart, then you start at the beginning of the dungeon that could be 20+screens with puzzles and there is no mercy when you fight bosses or even enemys on the map.

Ninja Gaiden has been one of the most challenging games for me. Your enemies are almost your equal, and its very very very fast-paced. Its not like super mario in this manner, its a bit more frustrating. You can easily fall of platforms, and then be forced to restart the whole level. Its one of those see how long you can last without dying games.

I recall one level, level 5 I believe it was, where you had to carry magic nitrate all the way back to the beggining. Now in this game, magic nitrate is something very dangerous if it gets shaken. That means no jumping, or you die and have to restart. If you fall even a STEP off the stairs, you die. If you get hit by an enemy, you die and blow up. It was very, very, very frustrating getting it past the numerous enemies, steps, platforms, and other challenges across the level. Took me an hour to do a 5 minute job.

Continuing on to Mark of the Kri, this wasn't a very very hard game, but still one of the more challenging games I've played. Its a stealth based game, though its easy to get caught, and annoying to battle. Frustrating if you get very far in the level and people notice you. Made my heart pound the whole game, to see if I pulled one stunt after another off.

This one old Atari game that's called Adventure(I think). You're a pixel that is in a dungeon. There's no text or anything to help you. And if you're killed, no matter where you are, you start from the beginning again.

The hardest game I have ever played would have to be Lufia 2 on the Super Nintendo - The normal storyline was quite challenging but there was a side quest in a place called the Ancient Cave that I spent months trying to complete.

Every time I walked into the cave all my characters were reduced to level one, I lost practically all my equipment and I had to fight my way through a ninety-nine level dungeon to reach a final boss. The dungeon was randomly generated every time so it was impossible to map, it was crawling with monsters who were infinitely stronger than anything appearing in the normal world and there was no way to save the game or leave the cave without the whole thing resetting itself. If my characters died or I didn't kill the final boss within three rounds I had to start the dungeon again from the very beginning. The aim was to finish the entire thing in one sitting. X_X

As if that wasn't enough, there was the chance of stumbling across extremely rare (but completely useless) items called Iris Treasures - It took me forever to get all of them. I must have fought my way through that damn cave ten times before I finally worked out how to defeat the final boss.

*shudders at the memories*

Aye, Lufia 2 is a brilliant RPG - An intelligent storyline, excellent characterisation, difficult puzzles and all sorts of interesting side quests. I'd rank it as one of the best games I've ever played. Unfortunately a gang of thieves nicked my Super Nintendo with all my games a few years ago so it's been a while since I last had the opportunity to cross swords with the Sinistrals. :(

Back to the Future part 3 on the Sega Megadrive IS the hardest game ever. It took me 9 years (playing the game on and off) to get past the first level which involves you memorising a 10 minute horse ride to save Clarice without touching an obstacle. The catch is that its too fast paced that reaction is worth precisely dick in it. Memorisation is the key. I want everyone to try this.

At this moment in time, i'm stuck on the 2nd level which involves a shooting galery game. I grew to weary of this game to give it the same time of day as the first level.

I was waiting for someone to finally mention that. Disagea is difficult, but MY GOD! try beating Legaia without a faq or guide! The puzzles are mind boggling like how are you supposed to find that out?

Anyways I think the absolute hardest game is Shinobi tied with Unlimited Saga tiedd with Star Ocean 3. In star ocean 3, although its awesome game, you had to like level up SO MUCH before you can move on the story I spent HOURS leveling up. And then in one of the bonus dungeons the GAME GUIDE recomends you to be at Level 255. (!!!) I screamed.

Its called letting partner soak up dmg while I melee elites in back. Then I use a plasma pistel to take out shields for farawy elites and then use a magnum to kill them. Its very effective. or switch from a magnum to a battle rifle. Alien weapons for taking out shields fast, human weapons for taking out life faster.

Zelda:Majoras Mask was damned hard for a Zelda game.
If you want hard games that are really great, get some Rare stuff: any Donkey Kong (the SNES games are at-last-1-Game-Over-per-Level-Games), or Conker's BFD.
Rayman 2 isn't that easy, too (actually it is pretty hard).

Yeah, I'm much into classic Jump'n'runs.

Breath of fire 5, dragon quarters. Hardest game in existence, others don't come even close in difficulty/complexity. Anyone who played it knows what i'm talking about. I've played over 5,000 games, spanning over 7 consoles+PC+mac. I know gaming. Mostly rpg/rts/action/fps. Alot of arcade too.

Hardest game? I don't know, I usually don't pay too much attention to how hard the games are, but how bad I am at playing them. I guess there are two that got on my nerves.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles. Love the game, love the music, love the storyline (If that can really be called a storyline. It seems a bit random). But those bosses. I usually only play in multiplayer mode with my brother. I will never beat Jack Moschet on my own.
"Yay! His health is halfway down!"
"We might actually beat him, and it's only our thirty-eighth try!"
"....****! He healed himself!"
"Maggie Stopped me!"
"Kill Maggie already!"
"Don't you think I've tried that?"
"He healed himself again."
"We're dead."
We usually wait a few years before trying to kill him again, getting better weapons and all that. How else would you beat the guy if he's just about as strong as you, and CAN HEAL HIMSELF! Gah!

And then there's .hack//mutation. Infection wasn't much of a problem. I actually beat Skeith on my second try. But when I got to Mutation...I really should have trained more. Cubia took FOREVER. It was always,
"It's Physical Tolerent now. Mistral, you whack the core. BlackRose, you heal us. I'll whack the Repth (what are those things called again?)...something. Great, now it's Magical Tolerent. Mistral, stop whacking it, use Repth! Wait, no! Don't kill the other ones! Great, it fried us, and now you're dead. I'm dead. BlackRose, you better have a Revive...Now BlackRose, you whack the core. Mistral--Ack! Wrong command! Nooooooo!"
Hate....Cubia. After I beat it, I ended up going through a bunch of side-quests in areas five levels ahead of me! Yay for me!

So yeah, I usually don't get too ticked off at games, but when I do...Oh, and yes, I do talk out loud to my games. Wow. That was a long post.

my brother usually tackled the hard games, but there were quite a few hard ones for me still... One of the most memorable ones was a game called "Dizzy" on the NES... It was really hard, not to mention that i really didn't like it at all.

Friday the 13th on the NES was another hard one... You have to prevent the counselors from gettin killed, all the while protecting yourself from Jason's wrath. And, if you died and there were no more counselors, you had to start from the beginning... We never beat it...

Uses too much magic...do massive combos instead. I was helping my brother with it and the unicorn didn't have a chance to hit anybody unless it went into overlimit.

I find perfect dark in perfect agent mode really hard. I still can't do half the missions. Has anyone unlocked all those "cheats" by doing all those levels in the time limit? The hardest one I've probably unlocked is the unlimited ammo, no-reloads one.

For me would probably be Hoshigami, Resident Evil code veronica, Resident Evil 0, and Dino Crisis

Hoshigami wuz jus a frekin hardass game....daym bosses and snipers...*throws controller*
Resident Evil veronica and zero because it wuz insanely scary!!!. Dey look so REAL espicially the FMV....god daym. I tried playing it at night with no lights and it wuz the biggest regret i ever made....
Dino Crisis because the stupid controls when the view changes...your controls dont adapt to your view. The controls are like always rearview.....but the view is always changing. Every different view and you have to feel your way around before shooting some stupid dino's....drives your crazy...

i played another hard game... counterstrike condition zero... i barely bade it passed the tutorial plus u have to use sertain guns in certain missions like in italy u have to do 3 things

1. kill 3 enemies
2. kill 2 enimies with a sniper rifle
3. rescue 4 hosteges

all in 2-3 rounds and hosteges are hard 2 rescue cause the a.i. is good and killing 2 people with a sniper is hard cause your team kills them before u shoot(even on easy) but u need them or u will loose from the enimy teaming up on u. i only beat easy so far... i have to get better online and its even harder cause your not playing against npc's

I remember seeing the add for Ecco the Dolphin on the back of Sonic Cd's little guide thingy whenI was 7... Looked pretty fun, but I never got to play it. Instead my uncle let me play FF7 when I was little. Fun fun. :heh:

Are you referring to the ones for the Nintendo 64? If so, I can agree with you. That was an extremely annoying as well as frustrating game. Not in the aspect of it being difficult with enemies, but more rather simply trying to progress in a level. Level 5, in the first game, was one of the most difficult levels, with that damned Magic Nitro.

Bloody hell, the Magic Nitro would've given a turtle an exercise in patience.

I think the hardest game I played is D&D (or any similiar rpgs), with a sadistic Dungeon Master. -_-;

Ninja Gaiden Trilogy, definitelly for NES. I played it when i was 7 years old, and got to the point of sand boss, but gave up after like 8 hours of non-stop play.

hm let me think:

-The last boss on megaman, don't remember which sequel.
-Battletoads for the NES, was damn hard.
-Contra for the NES, also really hard.
-Golden Sun for GBA, this game is really confusing.
-Tetris for GB, YES it is hard to beat Tetris @ lvl 9-5.

can't think of more titles right now ^_^

Has anyone here played Super Ghouls and Ghosts? There's almost no comparison. You think you've beaten it, but oh no. And how quickly your Gold Armor fails.

RPGs are the hardest games in creation. You think you just got a powerfull weapon, and then it ends up it isnt that good. You finaly get that item you need to finish the level, you die and have to re-find it.

Im currently playing KOTOR, and it is the most fustrating (uet addictive) RPG I have ever played. Its constant button smashing and running around and stratigic euqiping X_X

not really, most of the time in rpg you don't have to avoid the attacks manually, you just stand there and summon magics of some sort to automatically block or avoid the attacks. Whereas in FPS (first person shooting) and action game, you have to avoid those attacks manually using your skill. I'm not saying that playing rpg doesn't require skill, it does, strategically.

Ninja Gaiden(although the last set of bosses are pushovers especially the last one) , both Halo games on legendary (I simply couldn't do Truth and Reconciliation) and Civ (I never beat it never sure I was only 5 or 6 at the time but still.)

Heh, i love that game but it was too easy for me though. It's by far one of the best RPG's I have played, don't let the Star Wars thing fool you, people. The voice acting in the game is fantastic and you get a lot of choices of what to do. I liked The Sith Lords a tiny bit better.

That would also get my vote; though I haven't played it extensively, it has that reputation of being the most difficult game ever. I could hardly get past the first level, if I remember correctly.
