This was something on the previous Ichigo's Forums. Alphonse started it, mainly for the compositions on the site. But if anyone would like to post their compostions, please do. And please review anyone who has posted theirs. Maybe later, when enough compositions are in, we can start a vote on some of the best ones or something. But anyway, let's begin, shall we? Here's one of mine:

Amanda's Theme - Broomstick Complex (http://www2.hawaii.edu/~yagomich/compositions/amandastheme-broomstickcomplex.mid)

Try to review things on a scale of one to ten, one being the worst, ten being the best, and try to say a little more than just "I hate it!" Have fun!

I like the rhythmic energy, makes everything flow and move forward. I can feel the emotion, which is good. Its connection to the title makes me wonder though, this broomstick complex. Are you saying that she's a witch and she's having some issues? Anyways, you don't have to answer that. But yeah, your melody this time around sounds clearer and easier to follow, but at the same time, you haven't compromised the complexity. That's great! I liked the sections where the right hand is off doing its own thing, must be fun to play. I also liked how near the end you lead us unexpectedly, but not abruptly, into the nice ending. Good job!!

hey,
awesome song! really catchy! it has a simple yet complex sound to it (yes, it's an oxymoron, how else can i describe it?) the feel of the song was an upbeat, intense groove.
contructive comment: to me, the end part where you slow down... i dunno.... it sounds not right.... you may have to look over that.. i think that the chord at the end (close to the end) made it sound off.... that's me....

i rate this 9.5
awesome! hope to hear more of your songs later!!

Hmm... well, this was my intention: it was complex because of the sheer amount of notes and technicalitites in the music, but simple because the chord progression was the same the entire time: i, iv, V7 (or f, bflat/F, C/Eb).

Have people review the song you wrote for me. I think that one should be reviewed.

Very nice peice! I enjoyed listening to it. About 1min and 30sec into the song I liked the right hand's run. That and the meldoy impressed me the most. The chord progression was straight forward. Another thing I liked.
One thing I didn't like upon hearing it was the sound. The chords were fine, same with the melody. I didn't hear much cresendos or decresondos. Putting in those would help with the dramatic flair of the piece.
All in all, I'm impressed. I give you a 9 out of 10. Keep up the good work.

Oh wow, I like this! Very driving piece - it conveys a sense of urgency and panic which is very atmospheric, though with the number of cool runs and octave jumps I imagine a pianist would tie themselves in knots trying to play at that speed! It's a long piece but the simple chord sequences stopped it sounding too serialistic and the changing melody kept me hooked - I just wish I could do compositions that interesting! The only point against it that I can think of is down to personal taste, as I like it when fast pieces end on a big *boom* climax rather than a slow, graceful ending ;) So I'll give it an 8/10 - very good!

wow nice piece michael, the title makes sense because the peice sounds complex but at the same time very creative and nice. I wish my compositions sounded half as good as yours. :D

I wish my compositions were better, but thanks for the reviews!

Ok, here's another one. This piece is one of my newer ones (within the last 2 months). I wrote this alongside another piece while I'll post in a few days because I want to know how you guys feel about this piece.

Evangeline's Theme - Pale Surrender (http://www2.hawaii.edu/~yagomich/compositions/evangelinestheme-palesurrender.mid)

This is a lot slower than Amanda's Theme, and the beginning will sound like something from a certain horror series, but don't get thrown off. And this song is definitely not one of my favored ones, but I hope you enjoy it anyway.

You're right, I don't like this one as much. Put Natasha's one up, it's really pretty.

Oh ya, here's Natasha's Theme:

Natasha's Theme - Perpetual Blossom (http://www2.hawaii.edu/~yagomich/compositions/natashastheme-perpetualblossom.mid)

It's a slow song. Descriptive enough? <_<

Natasha's Theme is a lovely piano piece! I love the way you used the higher octaves - it sounds really pretty. Heehee, I just had a thought while listening to it - the way it speeds up as the piece progresses reminds me of those old archive clips they show on TV with the people in them speeded up - it reminds me a lot of those old black and white Charlie Chaplin-type films. Sort of nostalgic and olden-daysish. Oh ye Gods my grammar has deteriorated! ;) Anyway - a 9/10 'cause it's nifty, creates good imagery and it made me laugh.

Evangeline's Theme is interesting - the beginning is slow, yet chilling. That kind of feeling you get when you're walking home on a quiet night yet you're sure someone's following you. And then as it picks up it conveys an urgency similar to that of Amanda's Theme - love the glissandis (sp?) used there. Definitely horror film music - not normally the sort of thing I listen to but this was quite a good piece, so an 8/10!

The composition itself was great, but it didn't quite fit the name. From the name, I got the impression that this piece was going to be a quick piece played on the high notes of the piano, I was wrong obviously. Maybe you should create one like that Michael, it would be great!

The composition itself was brilliant, the chord changes sounded good, the left hand bass was perfect and the timing was great. 9/10. Well done!

Thanks for the reviewsw guys!

Ya know, you guys should post your songs here as well... that's the point of this thread...

Anyway, here's a new one. It has a completely different style from the rest of my songs.

^_^ Yea... Mike posted my theme... "Broomstick" would also reffer to the little obsession with Kohaku in Melty Blood and her air attack... I'm sure people don't know the game, but still... It's fun... Isn't it mike? lol

Anyways, I always look forward to your compositions, Mike. You have a very unique style which I can see come out in all your compositions. I'm sure that one day you'll become a great composer ^^ good job!
