Monster has got to be one of my favorite animes of ALL TIME!
Anime Academy's summary is:

"Tenma Kenzou was a talented Japanese surgeon studying in Germany. He had always believed that all human lives are equal. When he learned that the hospital administration was more concerned with its own reputation rather than saving lives, he decided to save the life of a young boy rather than operating on the city's mayor. He was passed over for a promotion as punishment for his insubordination, but after many of the hospital officials are mysteriously murdered, Dr. Tenma is appointed chief surgeon. Now, nine years later, he learns that the boy he saved was a killer responsible for the deaths of his colleagues. Feeling responsible for these deaths, Tenma sets out to find the truth and put an end to the "monster" that he saved."

This anime is amazing. On the outside, it's a beautifully animated series with good music and has good voice actors. On the inside, it goes inside the human mind. It's also believable. So much so, that it's almost scary. The characters seem so real, because alot of them act like REAL PEOPLE!
