Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. Been looking for a place that can give me materials / motivate me to do some transcribing / arranging.

I do some composing, transcribing, and arranging on my spare time and would like to do it more frequently. I'd like to transcribe and arrange more but I don't have enough songs that makes me want to do it. So here I am, typing up this post in hopes that people in this forum would provide me good material to work with.

As for the quality of my transcriptions and arrangements, I would like to say (without any intention of bragging) that I'm a decent arranger with an extensive musical background. Though my works are usually intermediate - advanced, I think I can simplify musical works.

Please feel free to leave criticisms for my works as I'm still aspiring to get better in this area.

Feel free to leave requests, a limit of 1 for now..until i get caught up. I will arrange any genre (game music, anime, k-drama/j-drama ost's, k-pop). I can transcribe for any instrument except for guitar.
Requests should include:

1.)Title + artist/anime/drama/where it came from
2.)Link to an original recording (no midi accepted cuz i hate listening to midi)
3.)What instrument/arrangement you want it for
4.)Simplified or without any restrictions. Special requests can be made to suit your skill level.

**For more than 1 requests: I will put the first one you list as priority. If I have other works, I will come back to your other requests later. In the circumstance where I fall in love with your other requests, I will put them as my priority as well. I do this so I don't get bored, say doing 3 requests from the same anime which is very similar in style.
**I'm going to stop flooding the thread with replies saying "yes I will do it" but instead, look at my works in progress list and see if I've taken on your request
**Songs that I feel would not be good arranged for the instrument you ask for I will post a reply to decline. Do not feel offended if I do, I just don't want to arrange music that I feel would sound bad cuz it would make me feel bad about my own product.

With regards to difficulty, you can take a look at some of my transcriptions to gauge properly. If you don't like certain aspects about my transcriptions, please tell me why and I may be able to change it.
Do not hesitate to ask me anything about my transcriptions that may confuse you. The notations I use are ones that I've read throughout my whole music life. I try to make it as clear as possible how to play the music.

I love both of these pieces so much. Tears has a bit of piano in it, but I'm only looking to play the whole piece in piano so if you could transcribe the violin part as piano, that'd be awesome. If you're willing to do J-drama transcriptions, I mean. Thanks in advance if you will! ^^

Yuna, I worked mostly with Korean songs and OST's, a bit of anime and I guess now i'll be doing j-drama too haha.
How i work is I usually make a recording first before slaving my way at the notation software. So I'll have that done soon (recording) and let you see if it's to your taste.
I'll probably do 1 request at a time alternating between people, but if i no-life it out I can probably have everything done within a day or two.

Thanks, I usually don't add slurs to my piano arrangements cuz i leave the interpretation up to the performer. Is there any way I can see the slurs that you've made? and by slurs do you mean "slurs" or phrase markings (sorry lots of ppl get these 2 mixed up)? Slurs are helpful to know for violins because they have upbows/downbows? Would you as a sheet music reader like more detail to the score (i.e. dynamics, tempo markings etc.) Were the 2 note chords approachable and would you want double stops?

I mean slurs. I guess violin's a bit different from piano when it comes to this. Since we've got a lot of going up and down the scales in this song, I used some slurs to connect 2 or 4 notes together. Which means I play 4 notes either using upbow or downbow without changing directions. Makes it smoother to play, for me. Yea, I agree the slurs are up to the performer to decide himself.

Well, this song is very easy I would say (just switched from 6 years cello to violin for 3 months), so I wouldn't like more details to the score since I can interpret it more freely myself. For this song, if you put in too much details I would feel pretty restricted. Prefer to play it my own style. If it's a bloody hard song then I wouldn't mind more details. :lol:

The two notes didn't sound too good on my cheapo violin :heh: so I just played the D note from bar 3-4. I wouldn't want more chords, but perhaps that's because I'm not too good at them yet. :hey: Anyway the chords make it harder for me to do vibrato, so that's something you should think about. This song is pretty much ordinary without vibratos for the long notes.

Oh, sure, I'll upload my piece perhaps on Monday or Tuesday. Not so efficient as you, I'm afraid, still halfway thru the piece.

Well, do you need it simplified or are you worrying that it'll be too much trouble to transcribe near-original? xD A.k.a. do you think you can play the accompaniment after listening to the link? I've taken every1's request and updated my works in progress list, check from time to time to see whether your request has been completed yet. For those who are looking for a pure original transcription, I won't be doing a recording since it's just copying the composer (not that it matters much). Interesting....I don't think i've ever heard a sax + violin combination. From your experience, does that work well? It will be near impossible to bring out harmonic colour with 2 melody based instruments and I don't see this piece as really 'contrapuntal'.
I think an arrangement of this piece will be far off from the original, definitely. Without the percussion, strings, and choir, you will need an instrument with at least that much presence to bring out the driving rhythm and texture (maybe piano +violin?).

ah :( the reason why i asked was because my friend plays the sax, and i actually never tried this XD i was willing to try this since it was a first but could you make one where we both play the melody in the main part but at certain parts me or my friend plays the harmony, which ever you feel is stronger at those parts? (sorry if this is really complicated and if you don't understand what im saying)

As for the string quintet (that's what it's called haha, chamber ensemble is a generic term that refers to any small combination of instruments) arranged for sonic unleashed, I've only composed one piece for a chamber ensemble so my experience is very little. I can definitely put up a 'decent' arrangement considering that it would go well with the piece. However, it will have to be a long term project (maybe a month?) cuz I can't rush an arrangement that's this big.

So far, in my opinion you're doing a great job and I can't wait to release Se Ymnumen. Keep up and don't lose your enthusiasm ;)

Finally done 1925 by Hatsune Miku !!! I completely underestimated the piece, was absurdly long with a lot of notes....transcribed 8 pages worth.

It looks like that was taking up all my time and now I can start completing the rest! Did Despair from Naruto in only 20 minutes as opposed to 2 days of 1925 lol....


I'm going to be posting a "Featured Video" on the main thread post (it's going to be up for a few days until I get more transcriptions done) with a select arrangement. While I'm busy arranging and transcribing, maybe we could discuss about it - the good and not-so-good aspects of it.
This will make spending my time working on this project more interesting (rather than just request and fulfill request). I'd like to get to know more about you guys and your preferences of style, and whether my style of arrangements meets those preferences. I could start up another thread but I'm gonna stick with this thread while everyone is waiting for their pieces.

With your feedback, I'll be able to hopefully produce better works and satisfy the general populous....and not go crazy listening to pieces 100x

@fokepo: The accomp. was a bit difficult at the beginning so I worked on it slowly while doing the easier pieces. I didn't bother changing it in the queue cuz i was working on it while doing other works.

@Anim3Pianist: I don't like the arrangement of the link. Would I be able to arrange my own version of it? Unless you really like that arrangement then sure I'll transcribe it.

@Hatayo: I finished the skyrim for alto and sax. I think it might be confusing to read at first, since it's mostly in triplets (hope you're good at compound triplet time). I also reduced the version since I found it would get long and boring with constant repeats of the themes. I also did not put in dynamics or any interpretation indications as I will leave that to you and your buddy, listening to the original will help you get a good feel for the dynamics and tempo. If you have any questions about any of the sections (there are 4 I believe, with 1 or 2 transitions) feel free to ask.

I've started my 2 summer online courses for university. Have to get in a few more credits so I can graduate on time next year xD That explains why I've been producing transcriptions and arrangements a lot slower (1 every other day?).

Thank you so much for transcribing 1925 by Hatsune Miku for me! I haven't gotten the chance to learn it thoroughly but so far I'm really pleased with how accurate your transcription is. One thing I did notice is that you made the key change a semi-tone higher than it is in the recording. I understand why you did this because the key of G is easier to work with as it only has one sharp. I plan to sing this and for the voice a semi-tone makes a significant difference. For future piano accompaniments you should consider the range of the instrument being accompanied and indicate that you adjusted it. But once again, thank you a lot for your effort, I really appreciate it.

@Telsyii Your request seems a bit difficult, quite jazzy (an area which i'm not too experienced in). I'll see what I can do, but it'll be a piece I'll work on while working on other easier pieces so it'll take some time.

@Valizary You are very welcome. I try my best to stick close to the original style, if not the original (sometimes I get lazy listening to the chord arpeggiations so I just make it up). Sorry about the key change, if it was a semi-tone higher it would've been 2309723987 flats and I thought that would be very inconvenient for the player to read, but I had underestimated the significance of a semi-tone to a singer.

@xaria do you want me to only do the piano part, or arrange the other instruments for solo piano too?

@wolferus for violin, I'll just transcribe one version for you since I can't really change the melody up to make it harder/easier. I don't think it'll be hard since you're just playing the melody. It would be a different story if it were for piano.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. Been looking for a place that can give me materials / motivate me to do some transcribing / arranging.

I do some composing, transcribing, and arranging on my spare time and would like to do it more frequently. I'd like to transcribe and arrange more but I don't have enough songs that makes me want to do it. So here I am, typing up this post in hopes that people in this forum would provide me good material to work with.

As for the quality of my transcriptions and arrangements, I would like to say (without any intention of bragging) that I'm a decent arranger with an extensive musical background. Though my works are usually intermediate - advanced, I think I can simplify musical works. I can get transcriptions done relatively quick (1-3 days) NO PROMISES THOUGH.

Please feel free to leave criticisms for my works as I'm still aspiring to get better in this area.

Feel free to leave requests, a limit of 1 for now..until i get caught up. I will arrange any genre (game music, anime, k-drama/j-drama ost's, k-pop). I can transcribe for any instrument except for guitar.
Requests should include:

1.)Title + artist/anime/drama/where it came from
2.)Link to an original recording (no midi accepted cuz i hate listening to midi)
3.)What instrument/arrangement you want it for
4.)Simplified or without any restrictions. Special requests can be made to suit your skill level.

**For more than 1 requests: I will put the first one you list as priority. If I have other works, I will come back to your other requests later. In the circumstance where I fall in love with your other requests, I will put them as my priority as well. I do this so I don't get bored, say doing 3 requests from the same anime which is very similar in style.
**I'm going to stop flooding the thread with replies saying "yes I will do it" but instead, look at my works in progress list and see if I've taken on your request
**Songs that I feel would not be good arranged for the instrument you ask for I will post a reply to decline. Do not feel offended if I do, I just don't want to arrange music that I feel would sound bad cuz it would make me feel bad about my own product.

With regards to difficulty, you can take a look at some of my transcriptions to gauge properly. If you don't like certain aspects about my transcriptions, please tell me why and I may be able to change it.

Thank you for the accurate transcription of Se Ymnumen. It sounds very good, but I think it can be changed a little. Wouldn't it be better if you had used G Clef with 8vb on the places where the notes go 4 lines and above, for example 17-23 bars? I think it would be easier to read that way. Otherewise the rest is perfect! :)
