This is consider part of music, I mean the instrumentalist plays the instrument which brings the music written on a piece of paper to life!

It is hard and annoying, when the instructor yells at you for getting the wrong pitch.

flute is a rather hard instrument to learn and master, but it's gorgeous once you get the hang of it.

i play too but its just so hard to get the right notes sometimes... its just very frustrating.. but when youve actually accomplished it the feeling is great...
when i find some sheet music for flute i like to challenge myself to playing and actually keeping up with the actual song.. @_@ could be hard hitting the high notes though... blowing your brains out.. :heh:

I play flute and since I was THE ONLY boy at my school who plays flute every guy is trying to play it now ><. Its a fun instrument to play, but my favorite instrument to play is piano most definitely. The Grand Daddy of all instruments.

well... i totally dont think so!
i play flute myself... anyway, i really realy like it's sound!
~only play one note at a time
~fingurts wont get hurt
~not too much tricks... if you can master ur breath ... u have already gain 40% of the playing technique
40% left for ur lips
in order to get professional sound, you need a decent silver flute, no cheapo will work!
piano is way harder!!... too many notes..... my brain just isn't fast enough...
violin is also harder
damn... it hurts...
guitar is also....
damn... it hurts...

I've played the Flute over 6 years now. Now that I gave it to my brother, I forgot most of the low and high notes. And he did something to my Flute. He somehow did something to have air leaks, so I can't play the two most important notes, the F, E, and the D. AHHH!
So, I decided to learn to play the piano by myself. Not that hard as I expected it to be. :) Lot harder than the Flute, but I like to challenge myself. I didnt' start out with the primary pieces. My first piece was Yakusoku, still trying to master it, and then Fur Elise. Freak, Fur Elise is harder than Yakusoku.
I want to learn to play the cello. I just like the sound it emits. Not as high as the Violin and not as low as the Bass. Just right for me.

how long haf u been playin? Fur Elise (the whole song) is grade 7 piano, and the main part is around gr 3.. you're good if you're tryin 2 learn dat lol! Anyway back to the topic.
I lOVE flute! I've been playing for a year and I joined band. I skipped beginner band cux I play piano too so it's just gettin technique on flute down. B4 I had trouble playing in pitch (squeeky), and last yr I practiced ALOT so I got rid of that problem. The lowest I can play is C (the one under the staff/mid C) and the highest is F (about 3 lines above staff?). I wanna continue on and take private lesson wen I'm finished with high skool band. What lvls are dere, and about how long does it take to prepare for one grade?

I play the flute, lowest note? C nat., I need the foot joint to play the B nat. highest note is the B Flat I'm trying to get to the D too though, for Flight of the Bumblebee. I've been playing for 3 and a half years. First chair, first flute and have the tendency to annoy everyone around me (cuz of the picc hehe).
I also play the picc too, now that is one difficult instrument, I'm learning Stars and Stripes and The Thunderer...I have a solo in S&S @.@ it's killing me. My coach always makes fun of me TT_TT cuz I sound really airy and I can't do trills and runs as fast as she can...damnit

The lowest note I can play is the middle C...
It's pretty funny when our director lectures us to not play our flutes pointing to the ground! Cracks me up!
Well, in our band class, I'm thinking about switching from flute to french horn...We only have 2 horns and they are both leaving so I might as well give it a try...That would be awesome if I would be the only french horn in the band!

french horn is fuuuun ^^ I tried it once messed up big time but it was still fun...
I'm the Section leader for all the flutes so it's me who screams at everyone (and gives 'em push ups) when they don't hold their instruments up...hey! the guard coach plays flute and always picks on me cuz I'm section leader, if I have to suffer everyone does buahahaha~~!!!
*crickets chirping*
...yea
I've gotten to the point where I turn when we're playing and they bring their flutes up...and up...and up. So now instead of telling them "instruments up" it's "instruments down" :P

I've been playing flute for four years and it's great. I'm the first chair in my high school band and I also play piccolo, which is more annoying and harder than the flute. I used to blast it at the trumpet players when I thought they were too loud. That was really fun.
The lowest note a flute can play is one half-step below middle-c with a b-foot joint and with a foot joint on a student flute (most intermediate and professional flutes have the b-foot) a middle c. The highest note is (I think) the g above the c that's one octave higher than high c. But nobody goes that high. The highest most people ever play is an octave above high c.
It seems like I'm a bit different from all of you guys. I mastered the flute very quickly (one reason because I also play piano). I know a lot ease of mastering has to do with mouth shape. If anyone wants, I can post some tips to playing...

Lmfao! My music teacher does that, too. It's so funny, because when he does I hold it so the tip of the flute it facing the ceiling, and when I do that, well, I can still play. XD So it's just funny.

i am an amateur fluist...only played 2 years. I can play every note, but just never can get the quality out. Ah but if only i stayed as a fluist then i can probably play everything in the intermediate level. OH WELL

Neh, I wouldn't say EVERYNOTE is I were you...I can play quite high and quite low, but I haven't memorized past the high F; that, and my higher notes don't sound as graceful as I want them to, yet. ^^;; I've been playing for four years. Woot!

Well, I don't know the French system so I won't be any help there. In marching band and regular band, our teacher makes us keep our flutes straight so we always crach into each other. Not fun! And I've seen pros who don't hold their flutes like that! AAR!
To get better sounding high notes, relax your mouth/embrochure and just let the air shoot out. I'll just warn yo that it doesn't work for everyone.

I used to play the violin and the piano, but I quit those and now I'm just focusing on the flute. (I play 1st flute in both concert and marching.)

Well.... I find flutes among one of the easier instruments that I have tried (which includes clarinet, harp, piano, all the strings, saxophone, oboe). I love the tone that it produces and of course it's considered as an instrument! :)
