Hello! My name is Kyuriko. I really like music a lot, so I decided to try my hand at composing. I'm still fairly new to it, so I decided to start with remixes. I play the piano and the violin, but that's it so a lot of my compositions will probably be for orchestra or piano.

I couldn't find out where to buy Rurouni Kenshin orchestra music sheets, only piano, so I made my own of "Departure" and am making "Namida wa Shitte iru" for Orchestra soon too. I'll post departure first.

Parts:
Violin
Viola
Cello
Bass

well, kyuriko ive never heard the song departure for ruroni kenshin so im just going to tell you what i think of the song just like it is yours ok.

well first off it has a solid melody. But you should watch you chords. at some points in the song a chord sounds out of place.but since ive never heard the real piece that could be what it sounds like. but take my advise at your own risk since i have problems with my songs too. and it is alittle repetitive. not that thats a bad thing though. alot of songs sound awesome for there repetivness and since it is a anime show than its probably there for the backround music so thats good that its repetitve. if i could i would tell you how close it is to the original song.

and what a coincidence i play the violin and piano. (well the piano i just mess around i dont really play it right :heh: but i still say i play it  )

but still i will give a 6-10 (thats pritty good for a first song. im assuming its your first song. but i dont know for sure.)

and try making your own songs its really fun :D

edit: looking forward to your next song weather its a remix or your own composition

Well I have heard Departure . . and well . . I didn't like how you split up the parts between the instruments. It sounds too abrupt when you have one instrument playing part of the melody, only to have it taken away by another instrument. Let one instrument have its turn at playing out the full melody, while letting the other instruments back it up.

Since composing Japanese-style songs seem to be my strong point, I'll try my hand at it. Instruments are the koto and the shamisen. I might add in a taiko drum later. The song is called "Momiji no Aki /Autumn of Scarlet Leaves." This one is not yet complete…

Well it certainly sounds Asian! Good start so far . . careful when you add the taiko drum, you don't want to drown out everything else.

Simple, yet effective. I like it!

All right. I'm back, after ages and ages of absence… (blink blink) I fixed up Departure. I decided to make it just a Viola + Violin duet.

LENGTH: 2:25
INSTRUMENTS: Violin + Viola
SOURCE: Rurouni Kenshin - Meiji Kenkaku Romantan
Original piece by Asakura Noriyuki. All Rights Reserved.

Hmm, interesting thing you've got going there, giving the viola and violin their own duets at the beginning. I'm not comfortable with the viola's ending though, maybe that chord was harmonically weak . . and when the two instruments came together for the first time, I didn't like how the viola accompaniment was a bit abrupt, as in how it was stopping in between phrases so early. And um . . be careful with some of the chords, because I don't know if the performer can handle those double/triple(?) stops =P . . other than that, nice job.

Momiji no Aki /Autumn of Scarlet Leaves

The koto... so soothing and well-phrased in this piece. The minimal (if non-existent) backup for the traditional Asian instruments would be much improved if you were to provide perhaps a synth ("warm") pad to the background in order to add more of a sustained nature to the composition. However, it's a nice place to start from, and you've gotta start somewhere! You mentioned that it's incomplete? Well, once you finish it, I look forward to hearing the full version. :)
