Marvel could not succeed. SNK fell victim too. Now Namco steps up to the plate in "Namco x Capcom" (Namco Cross Capcom). However, this time it's on different grounds. Characters. Namco x Capcom is a simulation RPG for the Playstation 2 which will be released in May, selling for 7140 Japanese yen. Game is currently 70% complete. Character Illustrations are done by Takuji Kawano. The Opening Anime by Production IG

The main characters are Reiji Arisu and Shaomuu. However, there are also other main characters from both Namco and Capcom. Listed main characters at this point are:
Namco: KOS-MOS from Xeno Saga, Heishiro Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur II, Stan Aileron and Rutee Kartret from Tales of Destiny, Valkyrie and Wonder Momo from Warukyuure no Densetsu (The Legend of Valkyrie), Berabooman from Chouzetsurinjin Berabooman (Super Matchless Person Beraboman) and Jin Kazama from Tekken.
Capcom: Demitri Maximox and Morrigan Aensland from Vampire, Hiryuu from Strider Hiryuu, Ryu and Chun Li from Street Fighter, Arthur from Makai Mura (Ghouls'n Ghosts), Bruce McGavin from Bio Hazard Gun Survivor 4 (Resident Evil Dead Aim), and Regina from Dino Crisis.

There will be over 200 characters, including other non-listed characters such as Klonoa, Lolo, Guntz, Ken, Gouki, Vega, Cammy, Juni and Juli and others whose names I do not know. Given that there are over 200 characters and Capcom is involved, it is possible and fairly likely that Rockman characters will enter the scene. The game also takes place in 20XX, like many games in which some Capcom characters appear.

Also, even though in one screenshot, the character KOS-MOS is able to use an attack called the X-Buster, that character apparently also has one which has no relation to Rockman X. But, that is not to say Rockman character wouldn't appear. If there is news in the future regarding them, we will go into more detail.

Interesting...

Hopefully a change in Capcom's palette will pay off.
