Ahh February... the time of the year when everything around you starts to defrost and become warm and alive... assuming you live in the Northern Hemisphere and whatnot. -_- Point being, love is in the air. Or at least the media is saying that there is. And due to the fact that love songs are the most highly criticized songs out there, it makes a really good theme. However, we already had a "Love" theme, so let's mix it up a little.

This month's theme is a "Duet" theme. Do what you want with this theme, the main idea is to have two melodic lines forming a unique melody that only a duet can do, be it of love or not. Here are the rules:

1. Limit 6 instruments, piano counts as one, percussion is a freebie (same as last month). The only difference is that the DUET INSTRUMENTS MUST BE OBVIOUS. The instruments doing the duet lines MUST be recognizable by the listener, so be careful.

2. 6 minutes maximum length.

3. Any sound-type file is OK, but please try to stick to compressed or simple formats, like MIDI or MP3.

4. Submit in this fashion please:

If you submit a file, and edit it, and want to re-submit, just make another post with the new file. The latest file will be used for the competition.

5. All copyright and Ichigos.com rules apply.

So good luck, and be creative. The deadline (which I will stick to this month, no waiting for more submissions) will be Saturday, February 26th. Good luck!!! ^.^

Hmm :think: so the other instruments beside the duet shouldn't have a rhythmical independent harmony? :china:

It can sometimes if you want, in cases where you'd want to heighten whatever effect you're using. Other times, it should just be in the background, almost independent, but at the same time still supporting the duet . . if that made sense.

well... this was a interesting post.... since i've never composed a duet before.

i composed this piece listening to Al's comment. but i'm not so sure about this piece... is it a duet? or is the piano too strong in the background? :frusty: gahhh! whatever.
i changed the ending

I know I said I wouldn't extend it, but a few people have asked me to. The final deadline is Tuesday, March 1st, 12:00 AM (Hawaii Standard Time GMT - 10:00).

I might even make a quick song now that today is my day off. :D

I hope the people who asked me to extend it turn in something. It would be nice. ^_^

:: edit ::

Well... not enough people for a contest... Stay tuned for the next event. :cry:
