I decided to try composition out... This is my very first composition. Ever. XD
I started playing the piano one and a half years ago and at first wasn't too excited about it. I started in September and as soon as July came my teacher moved me into Grade 8 piano. Of course I wanted to, and by that time I was more excited about the whole thing.
I've recently become a little more obsessed with playing the piano so I decided to try out composition =P I know that if I had more experience this would be better... much better... and obviously I will probably be editing it quite a bit.
I would very much appreciate any critiques or comments people have. I'm having a bit of fun with this so I'd like to get better =P. Please go easy on me ^^;;

Sounds pretty solid for a first composition; it actually sounds like it has a sort of structure ;). The harmony works pretty well for the most part too. The main problem is the probably the flow; the transitions (or rather lack of them) need to polished up quite a bit, and the place in near the beginning when the left hand suddenly drops out just don't sound appropriate. Depending on how elaborate you want this to be, you can try to add some more dynamics and pedal marks, and make the tempo a bit more humanized (there should be a option that lets you to do this in Finale).

Thanks badgerglue!
Nice try for a first time =) I like the mysterious/sneeking around quality of it . . but I felt it was harmonically incomplete. I'm not saying you should be using "block" chords, but I'm saying they're lacking all the notes that are required for a certain chord.

Ok. So I'm working on another piece. This is what I have so far. It's going to be a little longer than the first so I think a little bit of criticism will do me well right now before I go on messing up the entire thing. ^^;
There are some parts I am not so sure about, and I probably will completely redo them. There are some parts that I really like though. I would like some outside opinions before I continue though ^^; All my sisters say is "That's so good!" so I'm not getting much out of them.
Unfortunatly I don't know how to make it a midi =P

hey! Nice compositions... I'm glad to see the composers are growing in number so much... I think that you need to make the first one go somewhere (the second one I can't DL right now...) melodically speaking... The chords are... well... I don't disapprove... it's just that hearing all those idiots who can't play the piano... it's sort of lost it's touch... I like most of it though... keep it up! :)
Edit: I just noticed the name! I'm studying greek mythology right now, so I like it a lot!

Not bad =) It's got this funky attitude/style which I quite like. The parts where the two hands play in parallel are good, especially because they're playing that fast rhythm. But I feel the other parts could use more harmony (in terms of making it not feel 'empty'). Your harmony, by the way, is quite good and varied, the right amount of dissonance.
