baroque/classical/romantic aren't types of music. all anime music, unless composed in an earlier period, would be contemporary.

Classical Music is a rather generic term. It's time periods and genres range from Medieval Gregorian Chant to 21st Century Minimalism. (And even some Industrial is being considered "Classical" in it's scope.) It's loosely defined as music written more for artistic than commercial considerations. (Although plenty of Classical pieces were written with a commercial purpose in mind...)
