Anyone read the manga or watched the movie?
so far I've read 2 GNs, and I'm gonna see the movie as early as tomorrow (my friend is lending it to me ^_^)

It's the sickest, most sadistic manga I've ever read, but it's so intricately planned out as well. It's basically like "Survivor," except everyone has to kill each other.
All the contestants are from the same class (they're grade 9s) so they have pre-existing relationships which makes it so much more dramatic and entertaining.

I recommend you read it, if you are not disturbed by gory scenes and such a disgusting theme.

The movie was awesome! The second one I could have done without, though. I'm yet to read the manga. In terms of how graphic is is (violence-wise), which one is worse?

I've watched it... on the same day that I watched Kill Bill (the first one)...

I was lucky I didn't get nightmares of being stuck on an island and having to kill people =_=

My friend told me about that, she told me it was scary as hell. Don't two of them survive in the end?

It was shown on Channel 4 in the UK a couple of weeks ago - I taped it and watched it, and I still can't get the image of that head with the grenade in its mouth out of my head :crybaby: Majorly gory but cleverly executed film - reminded me a lot of Lord of the Flies by William Golding. Quite disturbing though - the look in Kiriyama's eyes as Kawada was killing him was really zombieish @_@

The manga costs too much (around £6) per book . . . and there''s more then 5 books, I think. X_X
I think the entire manga is 11 or 12 books.

I'm excited to see the movie; my friend is lending it to me on Monday (he was supposed to give it to me yesterday, but it never happened)

I think they changed the names and some of the story between the manga and the movie, because I started reading the manga and my friend watched the movie, but we couldn't really have a discussion about it because they're quite different.

It was a bit twisted, but highly overrated. Wasn't that violent or bloody really.

if you want to feel screwed up by the end of a movie, go watch Requiem for a Dream. Awesome movie.

Yeah, Requiem was a good movie, but completely different from Battle Royale, and I didn't feel screwed up by the end, haha. Anyways, I should borrow Battle Royale again. The first time I saw it, I was just fast-forwarding, not really paying attention at all. Now I regret it.

Everyone took like 20 shots to kill, and they STILL got up. I swear it was more of a comedy than anything else.

well considering the lives of all the main characters by the end were screwed up kind of makes you depressed

Yeah, i've seen it. My friend has it on DVD, and has most of the manga as well (and he says there is actually alot of hentai in it) >.<

But the film I thought was pretty good. It really made me think about me and my own friends alot. I mean, could you do that suff to your best friend?

I couldn't, i'd probably throw myself off a cliff. :heh:

Of course I would! Screw them, its every man for himself!!
Plan, friends in a team, Kill everyone else. Try to find a solution to our predicament. If there is none, death match shall commence. :D
Saying that though, i'll probably end up like Nobu. I have a problem with authority.

Waterstones can get you any book, provided you give them an ISBN number or the exact title and author of the books. Many a times, have they saved my ass. :D

You would!? Seriously?

I had better keep my distance from you then. :cold:

Anyway, i'd try boarders instead (Are you in the UK?), they are pretty good for everything there is.

What are you looking for?

Just the movie? The manga? What?

I don't know what they sell in Nottingham because i'm quite a ways south from there. But I've never known the waterstones at Cambridge to sell any Battle Royal stuff. You're better off going to boarders or Forbidden Planet.

Oh, so it's just the movie you're after.

In that case just go to HMV! ^_^ That's where my friend got his, and i've seen it in there myself tons of time. Both the original and special edition volumes.

Got nuts!

Battle Royale on dvd in hmv is rather expensive I've found, you might be better off going on ebay to get it, I got the starmax korean release from a guy on ebay for about £12 or so, ok so the extras on disc 2 arent subbed in english but the film is & its the extended version. From what I've heard the hk versions have everything subbed in english

Thats beacause halfway through the second m,ovie the directopr died and his son took over  what er the odds huh? Mr. Fukasuka i beleive. Great director, he really loved to watch kids blow eachother away, all his movies are like that lol.

Another thing..
Wasn't BR the Movie banned in all of Europe? I'm pretty sure it was banned in england but i heard all of it. Hahaha, they didn't like the image of kids killing eachother i guess.

I'm trying to revive olderposts--- Anyway, Battle Royale was the sickest thing ever and I LOVED it! Young students being forced to face a harsh and cruel world, sounds a bit like Lord of the Flies, but more hi-tech. I didn't know about that director thing though o.o
