The Timeless one is very good!

(And is there any way you can...send me the sheet music...for both? )

The songs are good!! ^_^

I like the good sound of your piano! Keep up the good work!

You did a good job dynamically, but melody wise you seemed quite lacking. More rather, you seemed, waaaaayyyy too repetitive on the whole song. It was all similiar pratically, and no real melody. You did a nice job on making some of the parts 'fun' and bouncy, but I really think you need to try working on developing a melody.

How did you get that piano sound??!! Or is it by mike?!

HIIii again.. :D thanks for all the response everyone..I appreciate it

yea I guess my stuff is a bit lacking in melody.. my great inspiration is mister Yann Tiersen.. who makes alot of movie music.. which I love.. and his music is pretty repeative too 'n stuff.. guess tis just my style a bit.. I dunno.. *shrug*

well I transcribed the Timeless one on sheets for your convenience.. didnt put any other signs or things with it except just the notes so you'll just have to dynamic it around a bit yourself.. eh.. here's the link..*fiddle*

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Timeless.zip

not really professional PDF stuff or anythin there I guess.. but oh well, can't have it all I suppose.. I hope you manage.. I'd love to hear the result if you did.. :D and.. well.. the crying birds one.. can't be too hard to learn that one by ear.. but maybe I'll transcribe that one too for ya one of these days.. :D

here another couple of random..things..
http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/twinky.mp3

annd.. this one I actually stuffed in some..more..instruments..timing is a bit off here 'n there but yea just experimental matter really..*shrug* :D
http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Starmatter.mp3

annnd THIS! one.. is actually supposed to be a duet.. also made sheets for the other part.. so its not quite finnished yet.. just need another person to play the melody on a spiffy instrument for me so I can mix it around.. yea. I have a little music obsession..
http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/River.mp3

ookk I'm typing way too much again.. I'm done now. :D *shuts up*

or wait. about my recordings. yea tis actual midi-recording..at first.. though played on this electrical piano.. .. um.. I found this pianoish midi soundfont thingie which sounded pretty realistic so I'm using that.. to record it.. and then I convert it to .wav.. and then I mix it around in this program called "Magix" and add a bit echoeish matters to it so it sounds pretty reaslitic.. :D I'm gonna try find this soundfont for the interested ones..since I kinda lost track of it.. I'll get back to you on this.. :D

yes. wayy too much typing. *freak* haha. yea I'm done.

Soundfont?! What is that? Some kind of VST?

"timeless" is my favorite. i love the way you made a such a simple song to sound like that. i didn't mind the repetition in this song and i dont know about other people but it sounds more like a classical piece. i think you will do great if you compose a orchestral piece. 8/10 for the 'timeless'

Zucriy Amsuna
March 31st, 2005, 01:04 am
Thanks! (--for the sheet music) :D 'Crying Birds' really isn't too hard to learn by ear... I don't mind the repetitiveness; I find it nice. And for the newer compositions, they're nice, and the timing is a little off in 'Starmatter' as you said. 'Twinky' is a nicer one, and 'River' is also quite nice. Out of the newer ones, I'd pick 'Twinky' as the best with a 7/10. (Overall, I'd still pick 'Timeless'...nice name, too...)

Osche
March 31st, 2005, 02:54 pm
wauw..so timeless is the best one overall aye.. aight I'll keep that in mind.. :D (I like that one alot too)

eh yea. soundfonts are like.. these..MIDI things.. that you can.. in devices in which you record your MIDI stuff with (for example that SONAR 3 thing) and it'll create specific noises.. yea that didnt make sense at all I think. I'm kinda bad at explaining the technical stuff..

anyway I came across thís soundfont a little while ago:
http://www.winfried-hubbe.de/pub/downloads/hvp_370.zip
to create 3 different kinds of piano sounds.. the one I use is just "classic"..and it sounded pretty realistic methought.. and apperantly you people seem to think so too.. :D

though after I recorded the MIDI and converted it into a .wav file I also added all sorts of effects like bit of echooee..annd.. stuff like that in mixing program called "Magix" which I already mentioned in my earlier post anywayz.. and I play the stuff myself anyway.. blablabla..I like my little keybord..

eh, yea! and here's somethin else I made just now.. with.. some strings in the backround.. n stuff.. maybe it's enjoyable too.. :D
http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Burst.mp3

yea I couldnt really think of a better name.. oh well, I hope I kinda managed to explain whatever I tried to explain..

is it you that's singing in the "ocean fish" or whatever?

Osche
April 2nd, 2005, 07:52 am
hahaha, eh, no, I'm a guy..just to clear things up.. :D

I made that site together with a friend of mine.. who is the one singing there..

if you take a closer look at our music page you see that it's mentioned anyway.. like the little dragon icon is me.. and the star icon is her.. and when they're both before a song its a duet.. XD yea. totally fascinating.. though that song was still recorded before my MIDI experiences...they're still just with the microphone 'n stuff so the quality isnt that phenomenal.. oh well..

hope you liked it.. :D (SHE'S A GOOD SINGER NO!?, since she's having trouble admitting it. still having my little cruscade)

Wow, you're very very good T_T always cheers me up to hear wonderful talent on this forum ^^

Timeless is indeed one of the best, truly professional and worthy of being used in a movie ^^ My one and only complaint is that it's too short =P everything else is perfect.

Crying birds:
Also beautiful, although I wasn't too fond of the repetitive rhythm after a while (perhaps I had my headphones on too loud) . . but I love combining all the art mediums. So you've got the music and the picture on that website, can you find a poem to complete the trio?

twinky:
The usage of the high register evoke the twinkling of the stars in my mind. Then when used the lower register, I was brought back down to earth and reminded that I'm stuck there.

Starmatter:
Very ethereal . . I liked how the melody arose from the left hand to sing its own tune. I didn't like it when the drums came in . .

River:
Didn't flow like a river as I'd expected. But still nice. It sounds subdued at first, but then you realize there's so much going on.

Burst:
It sounds like a person who's stuck and wants to burst his/her emotions out, but can't. Well done.

I can't find Ocean Fish? ._.

Osche
April 4th, 2005, 07:44 pm
wauw, thanks alot for that reply.. :D that really helps

I'm glad you like most of the stuff..

yea with that starmatter thing..I dunno..was just experimenting around.. I can't say I thought the drums were perfect either.. ah well.. so we learn.. *shrug*

and as for that ocean's fish.. I guess he found it on our site..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com

most of my music is on there, except maybe the newest ones (which I did post a link here so your not missing anything) but most of those are still recorded by microphone.. so the quality is kinda shitty, howeverrrr.. I run that site with another girl I know, and we made quite a bit of duets.. which are on the site too there.. where she's either singing or playing the flute..

you should listen to "forest of snow" and "fairytale" on there.. I like those two alot.. :D though we didnt really come up with them ourselves and the quality is.. as mentioned.. pretty bad.. I think they came out pretty nicely.. ah heck I'll just plant the links here too..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/forestofsnow.mp3

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/fairytale.mp3

those songs aren't really original.. the forest of snow one is originally called "canzone popolare" from "ludovico einaudi".. but we made a new intro for it.. and added the flute ofcourse.. and the fairytale one is from shrek.. pretty unchanged..

eh, well, as for now she's in the army anyway doing all sorts of spiffy things so thats why we dont have any duets yet where I have my betterqualitymusic stuffle already.. but oh well, RESPECT HER TALENT! :D I think she has a great voice. though she doesnt seem to think so. but I don't care. ha. tell me what you think if you have the time.. :D

and I'm pretty much in a rambling mood.. *ahem* yea this has been going on already way too long..

again thanks for the critique :D I appreciate it alot

An Ocean's Midnight Fish:
She is an *excellent* singer . . I was expecting a song with lyrics and such, but I was amazed to hear a song that was just . . "humming" . . er, you know what I mean, the stuff that goes between the actual words. Quite an original concept!

Osche
April 11th, 2005, 03:48 pm
humming is good I say.. :D well we only did one song with lyrics.. rue des cascades or somethin.

but anyway thats not why I'm here. or. well maybe therefor too. but yea. rah.

just that I made another somethin.. um..link..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/SilentLight.mp3

tis very quiet and..EMPTY..and I guess boring. but yea maybe I need to stuff in some more instruments there then just teh piano.. but I'd like to know how it is received here if thats possible.. :D

annnd..well that's pretty much it I guess. thanks for your time in advantage B)

Al
April 13th, 2005, 02:09 am
Eh? . . you think it's quiet, empty, boring, and that the piano needs to be accompanied? No no =P it's fine as it is. It's filled with so much stuff going on, just like one of your other songs I commented on earlier. You have to pay attention to catch everything. It's really good =)

P.S. you mean 'advance' and not 'advantage' =P

Osche
April 13th, 2005, 06:03 pm
well actually tis kinda random I thought.. not.. much structure to be found..innit.. so! then I thought lets go on the repeative stroke again..made this just now..

www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Z.mp3 (http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Z.mp3)

with.. a very creative name too.. well not really. but I'm not very creative when it comes to such anyway I suppose..

slower..and then..faster and faster.. and then WHAM! ending. can't say tis too imaginative.. but I hope it can be appreciated.. :D *hopes*

oh.. yea.. advance.. *cough* sorry.. I'm kinda not english.. I try.. but still some things to learn I guess.. thanks for the enlightement XD

April 13th, 2005, 08:31 pm
Nice piece; you are certainly making the most out of the two-chord progression. When you started going into other chords, it kinda threw me off, but I suppose it was a nice change of pace. The main thing I was suggest is to make a stronger and smoother melodic part, and maybe re-cap the beginning chords a bit more before finishing off, to give the piece more resolution. Overall, it's pretty nice though. Keep it up.

Osche
April 14th, 2005, 06:11 pm
myea I kinda liked those two chords I suppose.. so! then I decided to make a whole song out of it. :D aren't I teh unoriginal.. but yea near the end I thought hey lets change it a tad. so I did. didnt turn out too bad I suppose but it was not really expected I guess.. annd.. as for a sidequestion what does "re-cap" mean? not sure what that term means..

anywayz! I! found this spiffy soundfont with all sorts of symphonic sounds with it so I played around a bit with that annnd.. came up with..this..in the end:

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Instrumania.mp3

ta-dah. um. yea. well actually tis the same chords and sorta-same melody troughout this one too.. just.. with a whole bunch of different instruments.. hopefully that covers it up a bit.. and.. the timing may be a bit off here 'n there too.. ah well.. I tried to play along smooth enough with all the different parts.. and maybe I can still modify it a bit for the better..

some critique would be appreciated as usual..

oh yea thanks for your critique too there :D it really helps *nods*

Al
April 16th, 2005, 01:52 am
Hehe, Chopin made a really nice lullaby song with the same chords throughout . .

"re-cap" = recapitulation? so uh, repeating the material . .

I didn't mind the repeats so much, especially since you're right, the whole mixture of instruments does cover it up a bit =P But I thought your melody was a bit too random, but I don't blame you, seeing as how you were limited in the chord progression. Nicely done =)

whatever
April 16th, 2005, 07:05 am
twinky- Yann Tiersen---hehe, i can hear the influences of the musice from 'amelie' (the movie) . very nice

timeless is the best one, the athmosphere you created there is phenomenal, its so thorougly done. if anyone has a name for the style (and im not thinking about classical) you are doing in that particular song, please let me know.

however i too felt it was too short. if you are able to make more out of it, it could become seriously good, proffesional.

instrumania reminded me of the music in ff viii

Osche
April 18th, 2005, 08:27 pm
gee I sure hit a bullseye with that timeless thing aye.. :D well maybe I'll try working on it one of these days..however I also fear that might mess it up or something then.. ah well, we'll see.

anyway this is one I just made now..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/BurningWater.mp3

near the end I kinda hesitated so it doesnt really go on fluently but bla. 't happens. anyway I hope its enjoyable.. B)

and yea tiersen is my hero man  his stuff may be kinda samey all around..but yea as you said that music from amelie is friggin' awesome.. *can play em all* rulage.

Osche
April 22nd, 2005, 04:56 pm
*sniffle* ok well that one didnt get much comment..OH THE HORRIBLE AGONY..its eating me from the inside..like a rat..gnaw gnaw. ah well. can't complain with all the wonderous feedback I already received. :D *ramble* hope it was listenable for the ones who did click it anyway *shrug*

anyway LOOK! I remixed. phear. I like that little tombraider tune alot.. so.. thought I'd take things into own hand and make my own wackness with it.. it isnt really perfect (yet) like the drums are a little.. out of..synchronisation.. if thats a correct english word.. *wonders* but yea. apart from that.. I think...

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/tombraidermix.mp3

ding. yea. well. not much more I have to say. *goes to drag dog around the block*

whatever
April 23rd, 2005, 03:59 pm
burning water is really good. however you should add another layer of instrument, which should play the melody of the song for instance a piccolo flute, or accordion in jann tiersen style :P. if you add a melody this can become really great

the tombraider is very good, really. however i didnt like the drums, they dont fit with the rest, specially its beat. still the use of percussion in that part is a good idea, how about timpanis or some other classical percussions?

oh and this forum can be very slow at times

Stefan
April 24th, 2005, 11:44 pm
Very good work you've got here, dude. I haven't the resources to listen to all of them, but from what I've heard, you clearly know your stuff.

As for most of them being largely repetitive, well, you do get away with it. I don't know how, but you do. Doesn't bother me at all.

They'd make good movie music, if you ask me. XD

Al
April 27th, 2005, 04:56 pm
BurningWater:
Pretty much perfect =P I love piano solos. There was one part that reminded me of another section in one of your other pieces, I don't remember which one. But meh, the technique you used to create that 'effect' was nicely done ^^

tombraidermix:
I like the layers of instruments, very fitting. I don't mind the drums too much, but maybe there were too 'loud'? Distracting from the other instruments? I don't know . .

Osche
April 28th, 2005, 05:15 pm
oo..accordeon.. :D I like that. yea I'll consider it.. B)

well mister tiersen get's away with all his repeative stuff too..think tis just the style that your into.. I like it.. and.. well, guess I'm not the only one.. but then again maybe I'm just a lazy bastard..*shrug* and you'd think those things would make good movie music? thats quite a compliment.. :D doubt they'd qualify though.. ah well

yea that with the drums I heard before.. still fiddling around with it a bit..extending..modifying.. kills some time.. funfun..

here's a little something I've been working on the past couple of days.. it isnt completely thought of by myself..its originally a trance song from "Rank 1".. called.. well I think its called "Sensation".. anthem.. bla.. something.. not fully sure.. but I added my own stuff too.. and.. well..mine aint very trancy.. tis kinda big.. at least.. longest song I made so far.. so.. yea.. let me know what you think of it.. :D

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Sensation.mp3

dundun. thanks for the replies also.. XD

whatever
May 2nd, 2005, 07:31 pm
its pretty good. it reminds me very much of mozarts requiem. more specifically: requiem d minor III: lacrimosa

Al
May 3rd, 2005, 07:39 pm
Yes, 'whatever' is quite right. The trance version took it from the Lacrimosa Dies Illa, even if some parts are changed slightly. So, this is interesting! A remix of a remix! So um . . I really don't know what I can say about your arrangement, whether it's good or not. Well, I'm sure on its own merit it's good, but I keep on thinking back to Mozart's version.

Osche
May 8th, 2005, 09:33 pm
wauw. look at that. it actually IS a remix from a remix.. :D

thanks for pointing that out.. now I'll just need to find the original one day or somethin.. I'd like to hear that too now.. must be more classical then the trance version..

so yea. anyway. now for something completely different.. some friend of mine asked me to make some sort of hip-hop beat thingie for him.. so I messed around a bit.. may still add/remove stuff.. so its still in the works.. but some thoughts would be nice.. :D

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Beat.mp3

now I just have to get him to scream some lyrics innit.. wonder what that would result in.. yea.. well hope its bearable

Al
May 10th, 2005, 02:36 pm
Completely different, but nice! ^^ No . . lyrics would ruin it . . how about some strings for a melody? It seems like the piano is background or accompaniment-like. A duet would make it much better.

Osche
May 13th, 2005, 11:35 am
dundun. sup.

lyrics would ruin it you say? well I dunno. I mean. its like. a hip-hop sorta beat after all. but I guess I can bash in my own melody too.. I'll look into it.. B)

soo anyway.. here are like. or. actually here's somethin else I made today..cos.. I felt like it..and.. cos its fun. n stuff. yea. made 2 different versions.. one with pretty much strings all over the place..and.. then one with a little less string and some piano..and..some musicbox-kinda sound.. they're both pretty much the same, except for the part in the middle then.. ah well. ding.

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Desertedvillage.mp3 <-- the string one

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Desertedvillage1.mp3 <-- the pianomusicboxthing

I'd like to know which one sounds better.. or.. ofcourse if they both suck beyond reason.. yea..and here's my bash from beethoven too I recorded the other day for the hell of it. XD

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Beetsmash.mp3

mwahah.. yea fun. not really pretty or anything.. *random* um. yea. enjoy, and thanks for the feedback :D

Noir

Very nice songs. I like it!!!
The songs are so good!!
Hmm i wish i can get this sound too! But my soundcard didnt support it! :(

Keep it up the good work!!! :D

Al
May 19th, 2005, 05:12 pm
I listened to the string one. It's very nice ^^ Can you bring out the strings more so I can hear the melody more clearly? As for your ending, it wasn't exactly abrupt, and I knew it was coming, but hmm . . *shrugs* XD

Osche

oy..'t has been a while.. been kinda..on non-active when it came to music..*busy with lozza stuff* but! I finally came around by making another song..cos I found some spiffy weather effect sounds I found on the internet..which..sorta inspired me to make a song with those things as backround..rain..thunder..yea..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/Homealone.mp3

oh yea and .. little late.. also here's the deserted thing with louder strings as you asked for..

http://www.somebodyreviveme.com/Music/desertedvillageloudermelody.mp3

...if you even still roam these forums that is..yea.. sorry for my late response.. :D *drags self away*
