I love Kratos, Genis and Zelos. I kinda hate Colette. lol. She is pretty annoying... but people say I am sorta like her (saying sorry and being all nice) I don't see it...

I'll talk more about it... (once more, that is if anyone posts.)

TOS was a great game! I'd probaby give it an 8.5 out of 10. I loved the length of the game. And everybody hates colette!! She's like Slippy from Star Fox, Or Ashely from Resident Evil Four! Always gettin in the way...The Coolest character would have to be Kratos or Zelos. I liked Zelos until he betrayed me! Jerk...I picked Kratos because he's ultimately cooler. I thought TOS had a good ending (which is rare). I also liked the whole discrimination theme. That's an unusual theme...

lol. I don't really like Colette. I dunno why. I just don't. But she's pretty cool... sometimes... I like Angel Feathers, so i guess that's why I think she's cool only sometimes.

Tales of Destiny 1 and 2. :o They've also got Tales Of Rebirth and Legendia, and I think Eternia's comin' out for the PSP.

It was great. I accidentally picked Zelos, even though I wanted Kratos. x_o The boss fights are really fun, I liked that arena battle against Garr, Farah, and Meredy. Sheena might've been my favorite character if she didn't fight with scrolls. -_- So yeah, it was Kratos.

I think sheena should have used sighs or however you spell it. (You know the three pronged knives...)

Am i the only one who loves colette?! She was so funny. Kratos was cool. Zelos i've never really liked although he is handy and says stupid things.

Well, Colette's alright. I like her Angel Feathers move. lol. Yeah, Kratos is really cool.

How far in the game are you/how many times have you finished it? (applying to everyone and includes all Tales games)

I beat TOS once but I was borrowing it from Lord Pent so I had to give it back. I made sure I got a lot of grade so when and if I play it through again I can get everything good except the unreasonably expensive times ten experience multiplyer.

You sound like you play a lot...I'd never have the time to get that much grade. Did you do all the side quests then?

My favourite RPG on Gamecube. I'm trying to beat it at the time. My favourite character would be Genis, and my least favourite would be Zelos. I HATE THAT GUY :angry: !!!! I think that game has a great storyline, highly detailed characters and wonderful music. It's even better than 'Skies Of Arcadia Legends'.

But it didn't quite live up to its full potential. I mean, it just didn't move me or wow me like FF does. There just seems to be a lack of detail in the game which really lets it down.
I suppose you could call the skits character development but they take too long to read so I mostly skip over them.

If you skip the Skits you miss almost everything of the character developing, and that's a pity because every RPG is boring without character developing.

Too late. Anyway, I got it. Rodyle was a bit easy, though. I liked him, he was so...evil.

what teams do people use here?

I use:
Lloyd - because he is a good fighter
Genis - because he is a good magician and he&#39;s my favourite character
Raine - because she is a good healer
Sheena - because she is a decent fighter and is important for the later story and my second favourite character

If a boss kills my party for 3 times, I take Lloyd, Zelos (I hate him), Presea and Raine and slice the enemy in 5 pieces, muahahaha&#33; :D

I didn&#39;t have time to post my team earlier but here it is:-

Lloyd - Use him to divert the enemies away from the magicians by pulling off big combos. His agility is good for running into the path of attacks to shield the magicians

Kratos - I don&#39;t use him for healing but he&#39;s a good combo artist that distracts the enemy when it is needed. Also I love using his lightning blade combos&#33; ^_^ Good cook if low on ingredients. Plus he has judgement which looks totally cool if combined with colette&#39;s judgement.

Genis - Dishes out the damage really and buys time when you&#39;re low on health. Also essential for the best unison attacks. Best cook as well. Meteor strike is really helpful when there&#39;s too many enemies.

Raine - Heals party and combines with genis in unison attacks. Prism Stars&#33; (although the lightning devastation unison with kratos/genis and presea seems to do more damage).

If I only had Kratos I would use him. The Iselia Farm was cool with him, but then he has to leave again. ARRGH&#33;

You have to do something special to get him again later in the game..... :whistle:

I only played only a little of it. =_+ I think I kinda quit playing it because I was too busy w/ stuff so didn&#39;t have time to played games. However, I did like playing TOS. I think I like Kratos best though I haven&#39;t gone that far in the game. Lol. ^^&#39;&#39;

I FINISHED THE GAME *dances happily around the table making funny noises*.

No really, I&#39;m rather sad about it, because it could have been longer, in my opinion. But there&#39;s that bloody Sybak-Cursed-Book dungeon. I can&#39;t complete it because it is really hard. Are there any save points in this level?

all set to T-type, and sheene set to frontlines...getting a 60 hit combo is now easier than raine messing up dinner

I love this game. It&#39;s so easy to play again. I am currently using:
Loyd: He is the easiest to use manually and you never lose him.
Genis: His magic is useful and he adds balance.
Sheena: She is a good frontliner and I just love to use her summons.
Raine: Lets face it she&#39;s only really useful for her healing and her unison attack prism stars with Genis.

whats your best time in beating it mines 29:47... my party on that file r at lv. 72 and the members that i used where: lloyd,sheena,raine,and genis.

My highest saved file has them on levels ranging from Presea and Regal on 87 and the rest around 85. But I like to take my time in beating the game.

my highest levels are at 117-119... my time is like 84hrs tho. and raine has revitalize which she doesnt have to use carse i kill enimies with like 5 hits lol

at the hot springs after u do everything there watch the females, they sing a song, its the bgm at the springs

the game was awsome but I didnt like the gameplay (would have been bettter if they made it 3d)

My Favorite Char was Presea because she was strong AND cute :) I hate Colettte

I cant get One World for Genis that mini game is impossible!

I loved Tales of Symphonia. It had a brilliant storyline and the battle-system was absoloutely immense. This is one of the few games that I can actually state I was addicted to! The music was at times a little bit of a let-down in my opinion, but it still had some amazing pieces.

Hey I just started playing this game and so far, I really like it. Right now I'm just beginning the ice/water temple. I noticed most of you guys are way way ahead of me. I haven't got the other fancy characters yet (only Raine, Kratos, Genis, Colette, and Lloyd). I'm still figuring out how to kill the skull boss in the mines (Ossa Trail). He's killed my party 5 times now, argh.

So were the previous Tales games released in the US but if you can get past that, it's quite good.

For the skull boss, rack up major combos so that he doesn't get the chance to fight back. Use Lloyd as a decoy by poking the skull man and running when the skull is in overlimits. Colettes angel feathers is also good for it which you should have I think.

To PFT Shadow and an-kun. I wasn't expecting any tips but thanks a lot! I still have a looooong way to go before I get those combos.

wait till you get 'prism stars' you can rack up a 100 hit combo on a dragon with that

considering there's very little rpg's on gamecube this game is the best one out there! ffcc was ruined due to gba connection...but it was ok!

I don't mind the music, because all the sheet musics are very playable the first time I try. They keep most of the music simple and neat. (with the exception of the battle themes, which I enjoy a lot ^_^

favorite character has to be Kratos by far. Then Presea.

And, as XXvi3tboyxx says, ya gotta like Presea for her pure strength and cuteness ^_~

and, prism stars is slightly overrated. When fighting the Living Armor in the cursed book, I used stardust rain (Lloyd + Colette) after attacking for a bit, and ended up with a 250 combo. (Stardust rain itself does 112 hits at most, prism stars does 30 hits)

to get stardust rain, use Hammer Rain + Sword rain: Alpha
its not always good...just good against large enemies like dragons.

Oh, and just to clue you guys in on the way-better Japanese version...


In the American version, there are only THREE secret-special attacks:
1. Lloyd's Divine Justice (get him on red life, equip the Material Blade, have the Eternal Swordsman title on, and then press A+B+X at the same time)

2. Abyssion, Mithos, and Genis's Indignation Judgment. (have Genis on overlimit, kinda hard to do >_>, make sure he's used Indignation at least 50 times, and cast indignation)

3. Colette's Holy Judgment. (Random chance of casting whenever you cast judgment or Holy Song)




In the Japanese version...there are like...15 secret-special attacks. Even Botta and Magnius has one -_____-

Here, I'll summarize them.

1. Lloyd/Abyssion's Divine Justice (yes, abyssion does'nt have this in American GC version)
2. Genis/Abyssion/Mithos's Indignation Judgment
3. Colette's Holy Judgment

4. Kratos/Zelos/Abyssion/Mithos's Shining Bind (makes the fight against Kratos a LOTTTT harder) - a wide radius appears, the enemy gets repeatedly knocked up by holy magic, and after a panel with the character's face appears, the enemy is slammed into the ground, taking severe damage

5. Kratos/Zelos/Abyssion's Divine Judgment - about the same as Shining Bind, except weaker, with wider radius

6. Abyssion's Time Freeze- THIS is a skill to be feared. He literally stops time and starts bashing your characteres to death for a few seconds before time resumes.

7. Presea's Reppa Enshougeki- it's like she has a bomb on her axe. She swings, there is an explosion, and the enemy is knocked down. Not very exciting.

8. Presea's Hien Messhoujin- This attack is what defines the Japanese Presea. She jumps into the air, somersaults back down with a white trail of light, and knocks the enemy down with a fire pillar. To add glory to it all, she strikes a pose after and makes a quick speech while the enemy is down.

9. Regal's Garen Zesshuugeki- Regal's shoes light up, and he does a lot of rapid kicks, and then does an enormous Eagle Dive that ends in a fiery explosion.

10. Raine's Fairy Circle- Raine summons up a bunch of fairies that surround the enemy. A large aura appears and the enemy gets hurt about 5 or 6 times.

11. Raine's Sacred Shine- The ultimate Photon, except it's much larger, and its white, and it can do over 20,000 damage.

12. Botta's Saiha Messhoujin- Not very interesting. He sticks his sword into the ground and everyone within a radius gets hurt.

13. Magnius's Souha Enrenshou- Think of Super Smash brothers Melee where Falco and Fox do their forward B rush attack. It's kinda like that.


I might have missed a few, since I haven't played it yet (My japanese ToS is arriving sometime this month) but it's worth seeing. If you ever do play the Japanese version, do know that Raine is called Refill, sheena -> Shihna, and Abyssion -> Abicion. And Abicion is WAY harder than in the American version, due to his 4 extra secret-special attacks.
I've seen my friend's level 190 party lose to abycion during the first few seconds of the game. here's how it went:

Abicion: Divine Judgment
*Lloyd and Raine die*
Abicion: double demon fang
Presea: Mass Devastation
Regal: Wolverine (i think. i can't read japanese)
Abicion Overlimit: Indignation Judgment
*Regal tosses life bottle to Lloyd
Abicion: Time Stop
Abicion: Meteor Storm
*Regal and Presea die
Abicion: double demon fang
*Lloyd dies*


That jsut about covers the differenes, except for one more thing.
maybe its just me, but in the Japanese version, the voices are so much cooler, especially Kratos's and Lloyd's.

In the Japanese version...Lloyd sounds..manly. Presea sounds quite different...like..less sad and more cute. Colette's voice is raised a few octaves, and Zelos actually sounds serious.

in the Japanese version, one of the bosses isn't just any old monster... the boss is the Eiyuu Trio: Yuan, Kratos, and Mithos.

so basically..you get to fight Yuan, Kratos, and Mithos all in one battle. It is the ToS player's dream...or maybe i'm just too addicted -_-

the Un-stoned dancing bug. its a hilarious glitch involving petrify and cook.

the Genis vs Abyssion mania solo. Every genis player will gawk at the skill this guy displays.

Presea vs Kratos, Yuan, and Mithos solo victory. Its not that hard, because that person's presea has maxed out defense, making Kratos and Yuan do 1 damage to her. But it builds respect for Presea's power.


last but not least...Lloyd, Zelos, and Raine vs the Tales Trio in the Party Colusseum advanced.

They equip weapons that make them do 1 damage to the trio.
(Its a VERY long video but if you fast forward to the middle, you get to see the mage's pathetic behavior involving trying to get her mp back by sticking her hand out and missing due to short range)
*don't watch this one for too long, because after a while, Garr's outcries of "DAYMN!" start getting on your nerves, and lloyd's sword rain + raining tiger blade combos start looking very repetitive*

Yes...true the japanese PS2 version HAS more than the GC version, I've heard rumours that they're planning on releasing the PS2 version in english version...with the new Special Attacks and everything.

a few info here if you don't mind
-it isn't called Divine Judgement it is called Falcon's Crest.
-Genis is called Genius in the japanese version.
-You can tell if it's Collete's Holy Judgement when you can Holy Song and there isn't a P1 target on your character.
-The special attacks are called Hi-Ougi
-In the japanese version...there are more costumes you can receive.
-In the japanese version...Sheena's summoning abilities are now turned into Hi-Ougi skills
-Most of the Tales Series games has a villian who wants to do good, but he intends to do bad things to get there. (ie Yggdrasill's "no more discrimination plan" is to turn everyone into ExSpheres...stones that increase the ability of people when worn...ExSpheres are actually made from humans...hence the Desian Human Ranch) also the humans in Exspheres are turned into parasites that increases a person's ability. So Yggdrasill's plan is to turn everyone into parasites so that there will be no more discrimination.

I don't nkow much about TotW, but I've seen teh sprites. The first time I heard of it, it was on the videos link. I saw the gameboy-grahpics version of Lloyd's falcon crest. A few days later, one of my friends gave me links to all the character sprites in TotW

I read somewhere about Falcon Crest, but he shouts out "Divine Justice", and somehow Divine Justice goes into my memory more. dunno.

currently, lloyd's rising falcon = 15,000.
With Presea's power charge ex skill + Beast, she can do 35,000.

give him "Flash" ex level 4, Sky Combo level...3 i think?...Well Guard level 3 i think, and Dash level 2. Equip him with jet boots and elven boots for super-speed.

ok. go have fun. he will jump, then jump again in the air (super smash bros style). After your double jump, you'll be way high into the air, off the screen. Right after your 2nd jump, start kicking 3 times, boosting him really far. Then, use triple rage kick.

The result? Regal's flying across the screen covers nearly 8-10 times the distance that other party members can jump, and about 3-4 times higher.

All this combined with dash, jet boots, and elven boots gives impressive results. what I use normally is jump, jump, kick kick kick-(this takes him across the screen to some high point directly above the monster)-Eagle rage, wolverine, crescent moon.

with this double jump + kicks technique, i can even jump over or on top of huge things like the earth temple dragon.

to add to his Super Smash bros imitation, use Mirage in the place of shield roll. ^___^

My sister is obsessed over this game. She knows EVERYTHING about it! Even the smallest details!

Did you get a lot of clicking from the Gamecube and then there was a black screen? Sometimes it would tell you to start over? I seem to get that quite a bit so I don't know if there's something wrong with my GCN. It's happened so many times whenever I played TOS. Probably because it has like the most scene shifts of all my games, since that's when my GCN goes nuts. So I save whenever I can.

I like Llyod regardless dat he is the main character. Even tho he isnt dat smart xD The game is pretty cool and kinda long but i dun like the single camera focus o wellz. YO i want 'Skies Of Arcadia Legends'.

Kratos Aurion - same as Ikari Gendou from evangelion (zomg now that it is mentioned, they're the same!)

Zelos Wilder - same as Vash from Trigun (similar)

Presea Combatir - same as Sango from Inuyasha and Kokubunji Minoru from Chobits (watched too much inuyasha..but they're skill kinda different)

Regal Bryan - same as Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2, and the narrator from Gundam Wing

Mitos - same as Edogawa Conan from Detective Conan (i can just see it...Mithos: gasp! could it be?...*thinks over the evidence*..And the suspect is...you! Yuan! you've been leaking information!)

The voice of Kratos is also the singing Simba from The Lion King 2. If you listen carefully, you could actually hear Kratos' voice in some of the words.

Omg... spent too many hours of my life on that game.

In my opinion, it was a really good game, nice long length, great gameplay, but I was kinda let down.

Firstly, the graphics. Even though the graphics are really pretty sometimes, when I bought the game I thought the graphics would be all animeish but its not at all. And after recently playing FFVIII, I thought it would be the same, with an movie-like cut scene every ten minutes. Instead, we get one at the end of each disc (of which there are two).

Secondly, the music. The music is "nice", but not great, and in comparison to many FF songs, bland. Not sure if this makes sense, but all the songs "taste" similar, and there are few songs that really stick in your mind, nor is there a really well defined theme song. Although I must admit that I did quite enjoy the ending theme and opening theme, before the start screen (does anyone know the name of that song?)

Thirdly, some characters seem "tacked on" to fill up eight characters.

And fourthly, the "detached" feeling of the game. The storyline of the game is REALLY good, and deep and complex and suprising and good. But I just wasn't moved. I think once again this comes back to graphics. There aren't enough closeup views of the characters, and most of the time they're just little ants running around on the screen. And although I liked the "kiddy" looking characters at first, it became annoying cos the monsters dont look scary and the bad dudes don't look evil and the femmes don't look as good as they should.

And for someone that reads fast like me, the speed of the skits was tooooooo slow.

But still.... a really good game. Just could be better, 8 out of 10.

hmm. i think i nkow enough about the music to know that the music IS flawed somewhat. However, it isn' the actual song that's flawed. it is the cheap selection of INSTRUMENTS!

yea i know what you mean when you say they "taste" the same. notice that throughout the game, they use the same non-orchestrated instruments while in final fantasies, you hear a great variety of instruments. REAL instruments, not just electric-sounding stuff.

yea..ToS music would be hella high quality if they just used orchestra instruments.

Graphics can't be helped. its been a tales tradition XD

and i know why the storyline dind't mov eyou. english version's voice acting is horrible!


i should SO take a video clip of Refill Sage (raine) in her "archeological mania" or wahtever you call it, mode. the japanese voice acting is INSANE.


oh. and the skits. in the japanese version, the skits are actually WORTh watching. they have nice voice acting in the skits too (yes..in eng, there aren't voices), and the character portraits do funny things like jump, sway, shake, etc to convey thoughts or emotions.

for people who like funny slapstick humor... that plus raine's superior voiceacting, is pure GOLD.


hmm. at first the characters do seem tacked on, but later the storyline very nicely makes up for it by linking all these characters to the storyline in smooth transitions.

personally, here are my ratings on that game.

Storyline: 9-10 / 10
Music: 7-8 / 10
Sound: 9/10 (for the most part, good sound effects, and nice voiceacting except for raine's in english ver. >.<)
Character/character development: 9-10/10 (if you bother to watch all the skits)
Battle system: 10/10 definitely (and you GOTTA love their battle quotes, esp zelos's)
Graphics: 8-9/10
Overall feeling: 7-10 / 10 (depends on whether you like to get addicted to it or not XDDD

I have a question though. How come sometimes When I go to the greedy guy in the gate I don't get the quest that when you finish it you get the ultimate wepon for raine?

I think you have to do something special for that....the only ultimate weapons I've received are:
-The Devil Arms
-Lloyd's Ultimate Weapon (The Kusanagi Blades, aquired from the Sword Dancer)
-Genis'
-Presea's
-Regal's

I don't know of any ultimate weapons for Raine...unless you're talking about the Devil Arms?

The only one of raine's weapons you get from Koton (old geezer at hakonesia peak) is Heart of Chaos, the devil's arms weapon, which IS Raine's ultimate weapon cuz it adds int + 50

i dont think just adding inteligence makes it the ultimate wepeon. it only realy becomes so IF rain has killed alot of monsters, as the devils arems are kill deependant

hmm. i think i nkow enough about the music to know that the music IS flawed somewhat. However, it isn' the actual song that's flawed. it is the cheap selection of INSTRUMENTS!

yea i know what you mean when you say they "taste" the same. notice that throughout the game, they use the same non-orchestrated instruments while in final fantasies, you hear a great variety of instruments. REAL instruments, not just electric-sounding stuff.

yea..ToS music would be hella high quality if they just used orchestra instruments.


Gotta agree with you there. The music totally sounds like midis. And especially that music in Fooji Mountain, I think. Actually not a bad song, but when the choir reaches the high notes..... it really does sound like its sung by ferrets on helium.

I like to compare TOS to Golden Sun. Being a GBA game, GS is also highly limited in graphics, giving the same detached feeling, and yet, GS is a waaaaay better game than TOS in terns of atmosphere. In my opinion, because of music. The temple music was a real let down. Listen to "Sol Sanctum" from Golden Sun. I really liked that piece. The feeling is ancient, mysterious, holy, the way a mysterious temple should be. And then when you compare it to TOS, Symphonia is really lacking. The dungeon and temple music sounds kinda dangerous, but no real sense of mystery or holiness and stuff. Judgement of Mana was OK but repetitive and got boring, and was let down again by the choir.

But whatever. You can't expect too much from a game.

I guess so...although my favourite theme song is Sheena's! I have to admit...it IS quite catchy!

Yeah, Heart of Chaos is Raine's Devil's Arm Weapon...

not sure the INT boost is that good, leaves you much more open to other attacks and ur screwed when u cant cast spells

for spell casters like Genis and Raine, INT/DEF is very important XD
oh yea...when I first got the game, Lloyd was introduced right? how he was really stupid and stuff?

well I tried maxing out his INT because I thought the storyline might change XD

they specail moves are wierd, not all of them are that acessable. i have actived grave blade which is an eath move for loyde(not sure) zelos and Kratos. some of them are easy, lik rising phoenix for loyed...orare we talking the random specail attacks like 'toss hammer' and genesis wierd indignation judgement....scary thing

I have been playing this for a while now and i seem to be stuck in a certain part buuuuttttt i guess ill figure it out pretty soon . My Favorite characters have got to be Genis and Presea My cousin is rather good with Lloyd and Zelos. I LOVE zelos he is so frickin cool!!!!:P

My favorite character is Sheena but my favorite fighting character is Presea. This game is cool but they could have done a few more things. The endings aren't really endings. They're the same but w/ different what ifs scenes towards the end. The hidden costumes shouldn't have been made titles since they offer no bonus towards leveling and it would be nice for costumes to change the character's status artwork(also way more costumes). The side quests should have made some impact to the story and the ring quest w/ Yuan should have made Kratos stay w/ Lloyd while Yuan takes his place as a promise to forever be by Martel's side or made his ending like that instead of the same like everyone else w/ him leaving the planet.

ToS was one of the best games ever my favorite character would be regal since he uses his legs :) and i do tae kwon do which is like 80% legs and 20% arms and he has such pimpin clothe :)

i want to get all the games like Tales of Legendia, Tales of Abyss *sp?*, all the tales games! I do have TOS. Wait, i said that. Oh well, Theres even a game called the Children of Mana, see the simularities?
