Is there a synthsizer connoisseur in the house? I was going to ask if anyone knows what these terms in synth lingo mean:

-arpeggiator
-6 note polyphonic
-DCO
-LFO
-HPF
-VCF
-ENV
-VCA
-oscillator
-analog
-pad

I've heard all of these terms while looking around for a synthesizer, and I have no clue how they apply to the synthesizer specifics in general, or what they mean.

I've been seriously thinking about buying a synthesizer lately, and I've got my eye on the Roland Juno-60, even though it's old and a bit hard to find. Anyone have some suggestions of synthesizers to buy for new age sounds? I'd mainly be looking for a synthesizer with superb string/pad FX (whatever pad stands for... but it sounds great on Finale), and also a nice e-piano sound to it. Any other FX would be great, but the above-mentioned instruments are the sounds I'd most want to sound perfect.

Lastly, what are some advantages/disadvantages of using/owning a synthesizer?
