I just wanted to ask and see if I'm somehow behind.. what grade are you in and how many years did you play the piano for?

There's no such thing as being "behind" (in my opinion anyway). You just go at your own pace. Some people don't even take grades. It's just that some people will learn faster than others; some people will find it easier than others; some people will just concentrate on grade exams only to say that they've "done that grade", even though they probably can't play anything else. As for me, I'm doing a Diploma in piano performance with ABRSM, and I've been playing for 10 years now.

All I know is that I've been playing for 10 years, so I better be good.

I don't do this grade stuff.

played since i was about 5/6...but am really not good at it....tried grade 8 ABRSM....did really bad....though i did just pass it.....still not really good (_ _)

Listen, grades are worth nothing compared to actual ability. Someone who hasn't even done a grade could be better than you still. Did grade 8 ABRSM in 8 years but there are still people better than me at lower levels. I expect people will ask you what grade and then go wow play something and then perhaps you cant play anything....unless you actually do practise enough to remember your pieces?

In brief, don't try to think that how many grades you do in a certain amount of time proves you are good. Just concentrate more on being good. -_- You could be well ahead of anyone without having grades...

6 months...my brother for four years, what does that have to do with how long I've played? I started out with the violin the same age he started piano.

I've been playing for four years, and am working towards ABRSM diploma in performance.

5 yrs, grade 8. neway, just read in the local newspaper that there is this 9 year-old girl who passed her trinity grade 8 exam.

lol 2 years haha im one of the least expiereinced players here :D . But im in grade 3 wit royal conservatory. In 2 months im in grade 4 after i take my exam during this month.
