do ppl feel right about rewriting music.....well i think its ok as long if you give credit to the composer and stay true to the real melody...do you?

I think it's completely fine even if you don't stay true to the melody. Handel would flagrantly rip off some of the themes from his contemporaries and when questioned about it, he would say, "It was too good for him. He didn't know what to do with it."
But yeah, I think you should give credit.

Some composers pay homage to works by other composers by using the same melody and stuff . . for example, Libby Larson wrote a new version of Handel's Water Music (or was it Fireworks?).
