It seems like everyone really liked the longer prep time of the Christmas Competition. So why not have a CMA that lasts for two months as well?
I've been talking to different people on AIM, getting E-mails, PMs, etc. about this competition's theme. I've been trying to figure out which one would catch the most interest and the most amount of submissions. I also thought about what kind of compositions people have submitted and their styles.
This competition's theme will be this:
Choices
(don't panic, let me explain) :D
This is a huge theme. Choices is what makes life. The paths you chose in life brought you to where you are today, regardless if they were good or bad choices. So in essence, the music behind all of this can be almost anything that emphasizes the choices people have to, want to, or are forced to make.
However, this competition will be slightly different. There will be two unknown judges that could be anyone on these forums. They will make up 50% of the vote. The other 50% will go into the people's hands (poll will made at the end).
The judges will have this criteria:
10% Presentation
- Relation of title to composition.
- Relation of key parts of the composition (Introuction, Ending, etc.).
15% Orchestration
- Use of varied instruments and how they worked together.
20% Originality/Style
- Relation of composition to other compositions with the same theme.
35% Theme
- Based on how much the composition brought out the most of the theme.
20% Overall
- Based on the composition as a whole.
Judges also have the opportunity to participate. They will judge every composition but their own, and I will judge theirs. Also, to keep the competition simple, no one shall know who the judges are, and each judge will not know the other judge.
^.^
You have until May 31st to submit your composition. If you have any questions at all, please post them or PM me. Also, please don't ask to be a judge. I will come to you.
Good luck!
