this may help others when they're down but im sure evryone knows that ive been dumped as of late and have become ill due to it. but today im in the happiest of moods.
Ive been playing elton johns im still standing and the classic disco song by the whispers: and the beat goes on. the lyrics in that song cheered me up so much

so share what you do to take your mind off things and be happy

i eat a lot....though i cant contain a lot at most times..... but yea eat a lot,, watch lotsa TV, sing on top of my voice (though out of tune all the time....but *meh*)...also, by playing games that requires a lot of concentration or voilence in it....helps sooooooooooooooo much! (though i really dont encourage the violent bit...but still!!! XD )

singing is apparently scientifically proven to make you feel happier. I'd just think positively. Hang out with your mates is a good way especially anyone who exudes happiness ^_^ . Take up a new sport like boxing. The concentration needed to play is draining and it might get you fitter. But my personal method is just thinking happy and positively.

playing violent games is actually proven to help some people- especially those who are able to transport themselves inside the game and pretend that it's really them that's doing the violent behaviour.

from a personal angle, it also helps to play those kind of games- and imagine the people you are 'hurting' are those who piss you off :death:

I dont know how I cheer myself up o.O;; i guess i just let my little sad depressed time go through since im not always a depressed. Somehow my body usually just cheers myself up , probably from good thoughts about myself and what ive done. So , I guess that my answer.

A ton of whisky and hard alcohols. Come the next morning, my head is in such a feverish state that I forget whatever the heck happened the night before or whatever. Thats in the most extreme of cases.

Usually I just hang out with friends and they do something do cheer me up. I'm rarely unhappy though.

I go for a drive through the mountains or canyons. The scenery, the exitement, the clean air, the curves... usually clears my mind of what ails me ^_^

Go out with friends or think about things which have happened which were happy. But sometimes, trying to think of happy memories brings up bad ones, so that sometimes does the opposite. So, yeah, go out with friends or something.

I actually embrace my sadness. By letting it overwhelm me, it eventually runs its course, and then sooner or later I get over it. Either that or I sleep, watch movies, do stuff, etc.

Read, watch a movie (Animated movies can do wonders for my mood...), work on a model airplane, listen to some music, take a nap -- basically take my mind off of whatever is troubling me fo a while so that I can calm down enough to think things through in a rational/logical manner.

Running or doing some kind of physical activity, playing a video game, or food(be warned though you don't want to take all your problems away with food. May lead to binging). Just anything to take my mind off the hurt will help.

Eating, watching television, reading manga or playing a game.. or the most effective of all, talking to somebody. I almost always turn to Angelic whenever I'm feeling down, and he always manages to cheer me up. ^_^

I either......play videogames, eat fruit, listen to music, eat (strawberries), listen to music (particularly Japanese, or by the Beatles, and mostly: videogame music, whether it's ), eat, play my keyboard (One Winged Angel), talking to people on MSN, talking to people on Ichigo's, writing more on a random over-100,000 character story for the RP, write random RP things, write poetry, reading, etc.

...I can go on...and every one of thesse can be used to calm me down when I'm angry, even One Winged Angel and Liberi Fatali could calm me down.

I don't feel the need to cheer up often, since I'm very rarely down. And if I'm really down, I listen to some melancholy Dark Rock/Metal pieces to cheer me up. Melancholy pieces have that funny effect on me, I can't help it.
Watching anime or reading manga wouldn't help with me, because all fanatic manga-readers I know except one are assholes and the thinking about them would make me angry, but won't cheer me up.

The thing that cheers me up most is when people give me random complements or if I draw something really nice that people like. I hate it when I get advice though. I want to kill the advice giver, no matter what kind of advice it is. I always feel that if someone is giving advice then they feel higher than me and my situation, and that they know so much more than me. I can't even go to psychiatrists. They don't understand what to do with me because I always feel shitty, but then I can't say that to them, and make myself out to be normal. I hatehatehatehateHATE advice.

That's rather narcissistic, I suppose, but the reason I'm usually down is because I feel unloved or worthless, and having people feel that I'm above par perks me up. :/

Igneus Descent
June 8th, 2005, 07:27 am
*cough* Well normally I'm an advice giver, because I'm mostly asked for it, but that doesn't really make me feel better than anyone, seriously, only the smartest person in the world has any right to feel superior to others (an even then, they should be smart enough to know they shouldn't) ^_^

I like singing to cheer myself up or just reading/smiling. I don't know why, but if I smile, even when I feel crap, I can't get the smile to go away. I must look so random...walking down a corridor with a smile (that's not directed at anything) plastered across my face.

Reading, is for when I feel really sad or depressed. I find it really easy to get lost in a story, so if I read something, for a little while the sadness goes away (I also forget things easily too)..

Singing, is for when I REALLY need an outlet for emotion. I can't really explain it, but when I sing, the emotions come out too...and afterwards I feel relieved and peaceful >_<

No. Im sure you'd be a fine advice giver. But I hate it when people go 'Everybody goes through that stage,' or 'I know exactly how that feels.

And I tend to smile too much as well. Well, you know. A lot. Its good to do. And readings a good pick me up too.

Majors are ones to advise,
while soldiers support each other.

I personally dislike the word "advice" used in the context you (and most people) used,
I'd rather call it support. ^_^

I find it much more comforting and warm than to advise or receive advice.

Agreed. Comfort is good. That I enjoy. Support is nice too. But when people say things like 'Its easy to completely change your life. You just have to be positive!' Then you kind of get bitter about it. People telling you it'll be alright and stuff. That makes one feel better.

To cheer myself up.... I talk to people I know will say nice comforting things to, like SA and Kitty-chan *hugs SA and Kitty-chan* I also listen to music that makes me feel better, like Wake Up Angel, or sometimes I listen to music I know that will depress me, but I want to listen to it. I always listen to Hold On (Good Charlotte) even though I know it will only make tears spill, but it somehow feels good.......

I'm a singer with a lot of vocal problems, and I can barely practise on my own right now, which has made me pretty low. I used to listen to music (or sing, haha) whenever I felt sad but now it only makes me jealous (because, yeah, I'm not bitter at all <_< ) I've discovered the one thing that really cheers me up is writing music, instrumental music. Being able to create something, even though it's not quite the same, still makes me feel happier.

Reading, definitely. Most of the time I storm off to my room and then am reeeally bored. So I just read. After that things don't seem so bad. :D

Sometimes I do stuff that I hate doing, but would have to do anyway, like homework or something. Some people will say "But that just makes your mood worse." But I figure, hey, I'm already in a bad mood, I might as well get all this stuff over with. Why be in a bad mood more times then you have too? Am I making sense at all? :sweatdrop: *shrug* Oh well.

Yeah when people say that, it's not very realistic. The people who give advice though have been through a lot though usually so they speak from experience. People aren't expected to know everything. I think advice givers just give their opinions really so don't be too annoyed with being given advice.

Yeah! Seeing someone smile is great. Brightens up my day anyway.

when I'm down, I doom and gloom about it, lol not only my mood but my entire appearance changes from really happy/cheerful, to come-near-me-and-I'll-eat-your-soul.

best ways to cheer me up is letting me just talk about it... until I can't,

then along with it I burn a cd, put it in the stereo system, and I sing/dance to it while I spend a day in the kitchen baking

I usually draw a lot, watch anime, read manga, read my slayers novels, play my flute, since I'm not that good on the piano I use it for voice training.

I'm normally a very happy person, and I'm always the one that helps others feel better when they are down, but when I'm upset/down I have no idea what to do with myself really, which is where the baking comes in lol :heh:

i used to daydream if that certain situation didnt happen, what would and play it out in my head. but when it was done it didnt change anything so it didnt help much and it wasted some time. hehe i kinda did it alot >_< but yeah over time i would get cheerful just cuz i would get over it. but in the mean time i would write in my diary. write poetry, vent to my closet friends that i trusted and would actually give me advice when i needed and just listened or be there when i needed a shoulder to cry on. another thing that i used to cheer myself that i used but i do not advise it is lying. the reason it made me feel better is because i would lie about the person who made me sad. or i would lie to just cover up my true feelings or emotions i dont really know how it made me happy it just because i wanted to keep my image infront of them so it made me happy that they didnt know my dark side, its not really lying or acting fake because i wouldnt act all gloomy infront of friends if im not gloomy or whatever. but if its really serious i would like to keep it to myself. i listen to music and think about how i can avoid that situation again. and in the end learn that you got through that experience so if anything happens like it again your more prepared and know what to do.

Several things.

I used to cut myself but that's not healthy so I stopped. Now I draw realistic pictures of cut up animals with knives in them.

When I can, I also listen to classical music or compose a sad song and that makes me happy cause I made a new song.XD

But most of the time I make myself forget I'm in a bad or depressed mood. I think I'm screwing up my memory though.
