Hey!!! Just wanted to see if anyone knows any pop singers like Ayumi Hamasaki, excluding Utada Hikaru, who I hate for a reason...

With most of today's pop "artists" that's not so hard either ;) Although I also like certain Western groups/ singers.

BoA is cool and i love Crystal Kay!

Anyways, Utada Hikaru is my favorite J-Pop artist, Deep River is freaking awesome. Ayumi Hamasaki and BoA (super kawaii ^^) are great too.

BoA IS Korean but she sings in both Korean and Japanese. She's not a mix. Pure Korean ... ^^

I'm not a HUGE fan of JPop, pop not being one of my favorite genres of music. However, Utada Hikaru's songs are godly. I also love Ayu's voice. :)

asian kung-fu generation is sorta like a rock band and they play those kind of music, but i haven't listen to many of their songs so i don't know what other type of songs they sing, but the ones i heard are all rock band type of music

I like Ayumi Hamasaki, her carols and STEP you song are pretty catchy^^

I agree. J-Rock is more my style (AKFG, Orange Range etc) but I&#39;m a much bigger fan of western music. But that doesn&#39;t mean I constrict myself :)

Nana Kitade is a rather unique J-Pop singer with a unique voice. Rie Fu is also pretty good too ^_^

I don&#39;t get why Utada Hikaru is so popular...

I like Maaya Sakamoto, Ayumi Hamasaki, Arai Akino, and some others...but I&#39;m starting to get into more J-Rock,- Asian Kung-Fu Generation, a few songs from Orange Range...

Wasnt "Rewrite" the OP?...not the ED? anyway they also did one of the OP for Naruto -"Haruka Kanata"...I also like Sambomaster, he did the second to last OP for Naruto "Seishun Kyosokyoku" during the time Sasuke was being.....you know ;) (I dont like to spoil...)

It was an easy mistake....it took me a while to think over what you said and realize the mistake :P

I listen to Ayumi Hamasaki and Hikaru Utada sometimes, but I really like globe. (Keiko, the lead vocalist, is my avatar. B)) But everybody I know hasn&#39;t even heard of them before I told them.

Heard of them ^_^ Never heard their songs though. Read that they&#39;re quite popular in a manga comic&#33; ^_^

yeah l&#39;arc&#39;s rock.. TMR&#39;s more metal, and actually most of those on my list isn&#39;t jpop XD but then i just tend to call all modern j-music jpop, lazyness i guess..

My Favorite group is L&#39;Arc~En~Ciel its a rock group they did the opening to full metal alchemist "Ready Stedy Go"

Hmm, I don&#39;t know too many, but I like Kiroro because they have pretty songs and Shonen Knife because they&#39;re random and strange. Ayumi Hamasaki has an annoying voice which sounds too forced but she&#39;s not too bad, I guess.

ketsumeishi is cool.. i only have a few songs, but i like what they do

Shimokawa Mikuni has sing a song called "alone" from "gensoumaden saiyuki". and it is sooooo good ^^ and has she also sing some songs from Full metal panic :\ ? i'm not sure...

Ayumi Hamasaki is my favourite J-Pop artist with Utada Hikaru coming in second. Mai Kuraki is good too. I recommend Rina Chinen and Tamaki Nami.

Speaking of which.... L'arc en ciel and The Pillows are quite popular to western ears.


I've listened to Luna Sea, didn't really do anything to me.Try "Feel", "Dejavu", "Rosier", "Slave", "Mother", "Loveless" and "Believe".... or anything from their first few albums. Their sound changed drastically through their years so you might have caught a bunch of songs that didn't quite appeal to you. Most of their stuff after Mother (album) came out pretty shitty imo -- I mean, most of their final concerts songs were their earlier stuff. Anyway if those songs doesn't do it for you... that's too bad. ;)

Maaya Sakamoto's good, and so is Toshi.. who I just discovered today.
