for some that dont know, the if you fold an origami crane its good luck. if you fold 1000 origami crane, you can make a wish. lets all fold as many cranes as we can and see if we can get 1000 cranes. when we do, lets decide on a wish and wish with all our might.

lol. no. it could be a group project too. you only need 1000 for one wish. i got the idea from a story that i read about a girl dieing from radiation exposire durring WW2(the nukes) and she tried to make 100 cranes so she could wish that she wouldnt die. she got to like 300 when she died...i cried reading the story because its a real story. after she died people in japan started to make tons of cranes and wished for her to be happy in the after life. :cry: :cry: :cry:

so i thought "lets make 1000 cranes(tradishional ones, not the ones that flap the wings when you pull the tail) and make a meaningful wish, like every one will live a happy life forever or somthing like that" theres no proof the Senbazuru will work, but it gives you a good feeling after words.

oh, and it wont take a year to make 1000 cranes. i make 41 in less then 2 hours. i have 41 right now. i can make 1000 in a month if i really tried (and i am) and if its a group thing, it would take a day or two if we work on it an hour or to each. but we need like 10-20 people helping. after we gat 1000 cranes we can decide on a wish and then wish with all our hearts.

P.S if you dont want to use like 100 sheet of paper, just make then like 3-4 inch square. you can get like 10 cranes in one sheet if you do it this way. im using 1-2 inch sheets (im cutting them). this way i can get like 20 in one peice of paper!

well, for me, i use me scrap paper or i go to me friend and as for paper XD
i ussualy just cut A4 size paper in half and make one out of that... so they are kinda big.. lol

I have got a good way to keep track of how many we have. I will start with the total
[1+1+62] 64. we have 64 all together. so what you do is type the total including the ones you just made at the bottem in bold. then you type how many are left in underline

I see only two people (me ans shui_hu) are participating. the more we get the better.
1000 cranes = one wish!!! come one people. who knows, we could get one wish per a person if alot of people tried.

We've made almost 1000 at school in two days in memory of somebody who died recently, and another person who is in hospital. We've hung them from the ceiling, it looks really nice ~ *will make pictures*

all the students from our music program made cranes in memory of our band teacher's death, and i think we made well over 1000 cranes, i think it was 4389 cranes overall

um...i ain't doing that again...good luck people

life is to short to think that way. but at least people are working together! Ive made none so far, but most of these are mine...lol we all share these! and it dosent just have to be one person. in japan, multiple monks work non-stop to make a wish. one person will take a really long time.

I heard that 1,000 paper crane thing before...in elementary school, in a text book, in an excerpt from a book. It was a nice story. (The golden paper crane...the first that was made...to have a wish to cure a sickness of a girl who was on Track and Field. I think that's right. :think: )

badgerglue: About every single one of my paper cranes were made from non-oragami paper. I make a square out of the paper I have, even when the paper crane won't even be one inch high! That's fun!

And yup I folded allllllllllll of them by myself (in just 25 days). XD

25 days?? You must have been folding constantly! We had loads of people folding them. It took us 3-4 days to finish folding them all (although we ended up with about 1300). But it did take a week to thread them all and hang them up on the ceiling. There was only one person in the whole school who was tall enough to put them up. XD Poor him, his arm and neck must have been dead by the end of it.

Haha yeah. ^^;; I tried to get 50 cranes a day. Anyways.. sigh. I would hang my cranes on the ceiling.. but our ceiling isn't smooth and flat likes yours.. T_T

I did think about making loads of cranes for my ceiling, after we did the thousand cranes at school ~ But my bedroom ceiling is all gloopy and such. And I won't be bothered to clean them when they collect dust on their wings. XD

Ah.. that's right.. dust.. Hum.. but knowing me, I don't think I would mind cleaning the dust off the cranes once in a while.. hehe. XD;

uhm...i have cranes hainging from my room as well...but there's only about 60 of them haning...the rest of the ceiling is covered in these little origami stars i folded...with the help of Uchiha itachi...

maybe you should post a pic of them in the post pics of your room thread. It'll be interesting to see it as I've never seen a whole room full of origami hanging from the ceiling.

I was looking at some images, and people make huge cranes! I make mine out of a 2X2 inch paper MAX..Thats small, but I can fit aton in a small box, and it looks cuiter too!

I saw a senbazuru on Flame of Recca (the character brought all the cranes to life and attacked the main character)
