No, never stop composing! You just have to keep on practicing and hone your skills! Anyways, I can hear the longing in your piece . .

If you say "I can't compose so I'll quit it", you won't get anywhere. Besides that, the piece is great, I can't tell the time signature at once, which is interesting and the harmonies are great. Good RPG background music. Carry on, will ya?

I wouldn't say repetitive. I'd say you're a consistant composer because you have many ideas based on the same sort of theme/structure. You don't have to be good to be a composer. I don't think you're bad at all. I've heard people who really can't compose at all. You seem to know what you're doing and I think you should continue doing to do what you do. Never give up something because you're bound to regret it later in life.
Each composition should be a part of you no matter how good or bad you think it is. It tells something about yourself to other people in a way which very few people in this world can. Composing is an expression and arrangement of ideas and emotions/thoughts. I can see that in your work.
I think this piece is very nostalgic and I quite like it. I hope you take my advice and carry on...

In Your Arms
The beginning is enrapturing, and the well-done pedaling at this point adds a sense of melancholy like no other song I've heard on this board, though the pedaling does seem to get just a little bit muddled together when the melody kicks in. I think that this piece is very well done, and the melody is very reminiscent of memories of love. I can easily picture lyrics going with this song. The octava passage 3/4 of the way through the piece is also a nice addition, and it really reinforces the theme well. Although the ending was appropriate with the key and tone of the piece, I would have liked it very much moreso if the piece had done either a rolled chord or a slow arpeggio/broken chord which goes up into the piano's higher notes. This is a nice piece, very memorable, and perhaps you can even orchestrate it into a version for a larger variety of instruments some day to really enlighten it. :) Good job, Selinity! Please do not give up your talent for composing. :)

Dont stop composing. In Your Arms is really good. I agree with Al, you can hear the longing in the piece. It must have taken you ages. It would take me about a year to compose something that good.

I'm not sure I can give you the sugar sweetness other members gave you, but yeah..
I've listened to your others songs aswell, and they are.. well, pretty much alike. Maybe not melody-wise, but musically the same. I noticed that you strive for a good melancholic feeling in your songs. The problem is that your melodies and harmonies aren't good enough to make these types of songs as enjoyable as they should be. You should learn more about chord sequences too, to make it sound good without getting too repetitive, although this song isn't =P
This song you posted, btw, should be played legato to make it sound more natural as a sad song, to give it a feeling of whatever you're feeling (which others seem to find... no clue how though <.<).
I also suggest you to play/compose songs in major keys. You tend to overcoat your compositions in sad sad sad sad sad chords, which eventually just makes them very, verrrry boring to listen to if you don't have great orchestration to back it up with.
And try not to think too much about being a lousy composer.. everyone's had the feeling, you know? Like the others said, keep practising and you'll evolve, even without you noticing it.

complaints? 0.0
sorry...well i've got no clue about piano >< i am thinking that i am just at lvl 1 ...
that also means i need practice...n hearing the right keys as well...it'd be helpful if I can get help from the others, i don't really understand some piano terms as well.
Well I did compose a new song...but I won't post it...it's basically blended with high and low notes, may be sad, but suppose to be peaceful ><
That's why I don't want t post it anyways...i think i need to work on it more..
thanks for the guidance Noir7, and support from all of you.

I hope both our problems are sorted out now.
Back on topic: - You can still post it selenity. It doesn't matter what level you are at, just the effort for trying is enough really that makes something a good composition for yourself no matter what it sounds like.
