So if you were to make a band, what would you call it? State the name and the style of music. I never dreamed of becoming a popular musician, I'm just curious to know what you people think.

An emerging band I know have some really good tunes.
Too bad their name is "The Paranoid Monkeys". Ugh, way too cliche.

EDIT - Oh, and of course, if you have a band, what's it called?

I have no idea what I would call it. The ice-cubes? Because we're cool! PUN! XD Sorry :heh:

I don't really like it when teenage girls go "yeah I'm gonna become a popstar! I'm gonna be the next britney!" when they are rubbish at singing and have no music understanding. Get a reality check people! It'll be nice to sell songs on that scale but I wouldn't like the pressure of being famous. Most stars aren't as good-looking as you'd expect in real-life. -_-

Lol This is really funny, my friends and I tried to start an all girls rock band at school once, and tried to teach ourselves to play drums and electric guitar (we all had backgrounds in acoustic, clarinet, singing and piano) but the teacher was really biased towards the male bands so we eventually were forced to give up ^_^ We didn't really have hopes of selling records or anything, it was just something fun.
Anyway, we called ourselves Murasaki (purple in japanese) coz we were too lazy to come up with anything too original (seeing we weren't really in it for the long haul) XD

Ooh! We did make a rock band, Des, two of our friends and I. We were called "Murasaki" and wanted to play rock, original songs (we even did some writing ;)) and J stuff, but the stupid lazy, sexist, biased teacher in charge of the bads and the roster for the "Room of Rock" hardly let us in. hmph.

edit: OMFG! that's so funny! des and i posted almost the EXACT same time and we didn't even realize XD

Okay that is so weird. Teachers are usually biased towards girls...but boys do generally sound better at rock with guitars.

Back in grade 9, I had to make up a band name for my geography culminating activity. Yeah... geography.... we had to make up a band and plan their tour and explain something about geography. I'm getting a little off topic... Anyways, my band's name was "Kink." In that class, everyone had to make up a name to be used when our marks were posted. I was Link17 and my friend was Kirby6. Thus, I combined our names to create my band name... Kink!

But if I were to actually create a band, I'd probably come up with the lamest name, like... "Band." Isn't it so creative? (lol) ^_^ Or maybe I'd name it... "Hikaru Tsuki," which was supposed to be the title of my manga; the title actually didn't make a lot of sense, so maybe it's better as a band name! Oh yeah, it'd be a rock band, or something like that.

Come on, don't kill each other. No one here deserves it...especially not An-Kun.

I'm actually in a band. We play crossover, but not that crossover from Rap and Metal, as Such A Surge or others do it. We plan to play every genre in Rock and Metal at least once. Right now, we have: a cheesy but very nice ballad, a Power Metal style piece, a reggae version of 'Basket Case' by Green Day, a new piece only known by our guitarist (who wrote it), and an utterly ridiculous Death Metal/Grindcore piece. We don't have a name, if you have any suggestions -> PM please.
Maybe we will record something soon.

We are 4 guys. A singer/guitarist, a bassist, winndich (maybe some people know him :D ) plays keyboard and I hit the drums. (cheers to Roy Mustang. Any mp3s of your band?)

He doesn't, but it really, we were/are upset about such a biased and sexist comment. I don't want to flame or anything, but.....no such comments agin please, 'kay? ^_^

How so? Yes, male guitarists are better known than female guitarists. Does that mean they are inherently better?

you've got to be kidding me..

I'm with Gand on that. There's this chick at my school and she's the best guitarist in the whole school.

If I made a band, which I'm planning on to in the future.
Our christian band is called mechanical pencils. and.. uh if I made a band with friends and such it'd be called "nothing" because it'd be hilarious when they're announcing us if we play live. Something like "Next band, here comes nothing!"
Oh btw, I'm new to the forums so, Hi.

 My band would consist of an octopus playing 4 synthesizers all at once. ;) And it could be called... 8 Arms Are Better Than Two.

Really, I don't know what my "band" would be. X_X Maybe I would make myself a one person band, sort of like Enya. I could just play synthesizer and my violin and re-layer the parts over each other until I got it just right. And I could use the stage name "Duke James". :P

Heh. Me and two of my friends formed a quartet at the beginning of the school year. We were called the "Quartet Minus One," since we didn't have a name anyway, and there were only three of us. A friend of mine thought of the name, and we love him for it. Later we gained another member. Our second violinist sort of knows viola, so we put her on viola, and the new member played second. However, we're in the process of firing her (she's in Thailand, so we can't reach her at the moment :/ ) and the original second violinist's sister will become our violist. The cellist and first violinist (me) will stay the same, and we've decided to become a serious quartet and start practicing really hard. Rar. (For those of you that understood all of that... congrats!)

Anyway, our name is now "Quixotic." I like it. We are all a little inexperienced at composing, but we've gotten a couple of jobs at elementary schools, and once for a "Tea with Belle" where little kids came to meet Belle and Gaston and all of them for a production of Beauty and the Beast. :D

My band was originally planned as a coverband, but we wanna start playing our own stuff now.
The style was until now variable, but mostly rock and metal. The style will from now will be Death Metal/Metalcore, very similar to my old band. Thus we are choosing a new bandname, the old one was harTcover, the new one will most likely be Prejudice Begone.

I don't know. Something about it sounds nice....I like astronomy-related words.

Well, since this thread is already revived, might as well share my little idea.

"Little Milk Stand"

Reasoning: Apparently my alias Milch Plätzchen ("Milk [and] Cookies") translates to "Little Milk Stool" when the umlaut on the "a" isn't present, as a friend told me. Obviously "stool" doesn't make much sense, therefore I replaced the word stool with "stand." I thought it was comical and a smidge witty.

What an old friend called me a long time ago. Might have to change the last word to something uncensorable though.

^ Yeah it was that death metal band Little Milk Stand that made me feel the name might've been a bit offensive and vile.

I could see that working, for a girl band, though I'm not sure what'll happen if some people jokingly call it "Thrusters"...

I'm massively classical, so it's not going to happen, but... I was speaking to a friend the other day, and we concluded with... The One Man Oligarchy.
Random... love it, though. Not sure why.
