1) Why does it have to have all those add ons? In the old days, it was all lego sized pixles and games. So what if it can play DVD's, Rip MP3's, Play CD's or do taxes!!??

2) What is with the poor and disappointing ads and E3 shows!?

"Wow ed, look at these graphics! It runs at 50000 frames per a second and looks more real then Michael Jackson!"

"Yes veronica, they are amazing"

...Dont show us FMV clips and claim the game will look like that!

3) Be creative! Start a new game genre or somthing. Stop stealing from Square or Nintendo! Stop putting crates and boxes every where just becuase its easier!

4) Wow, Each leaf can have its own control! I am really going to buy a game where you can make wind currents carry leaves all over the place! Or better yet, fill a tub with Rubber Duckies!

5) If I want somthing that can play music and movies on the go, Ill buy a dvd player and a mn3 player. I can get all that at COSTCO for less then $200.00!

6) Stop making The west jelous and release all games you release in Japan in the west!!!

7) If the plots the same and only the graphics, characters and so on has changed, dont bother on making a sequal.

Sorry, but that's the state the Industry is now. At least a lot of people voiced their opinions on this issue at the GDC 2005. Part of solving the problem is identifying it...

I agree with pretty much everything you've said, Dreams-Creation. It really does seem like so many games are all the same; pretty much everyone copies one another (or they're "inspired" by other games and such). I hardly ever play any games any more, since I've basically almost stopped caring about all these games... Sure, the graphics are fine and dandy, but almost nothing seems too original.

I don't know this is off topic, but even the great Shigeru Miyamoto says he doesn't really want to play a lot of games... He kind of said the same stuff you've already said in your post. Weird, isn't it? Anyway, the article can be found here (http://cube.ign.com/articles/622/622303p1.html).

Add-ons are easy money, can't disagree with them. Besides, add-ons excist for a long time, Doom 3 had one (Ultimate Doom) and I'm sure there are older games which have add-ons/ expansions. It's really nothing new.

You're obviously still playing your playstation because most games nowadays don't even have FMV and if they do it's usually taken from the game for no obvious reason.

3) Be creative! Start a new game genre or somthing. Stop stealing from Square or Nintendo! Stop putting crates and boxes every where just becuase its easier!
I agree but it's getting harder to find new ideas nowadays and the gamesbiz doesn't want to take big risks anymore. Go Nintendo for coming with new stuff.

4) Wow, Each leaf can have its own control! I am really going to buy a game where you can make wind currents carry leaves all over the place! Or better yet, fill a tub with Rubber Duckies!
First you complain about games not being original and now you complain about a game that sounds original. You're weird. And I have no idea what you're talking about either.

5) If I want somthing that can play music and movies on the go, Ill buy a dvd player and a mn3 player. I can get all that at COSTCO for less then $200.00!
Good for you, but some people like to put everything into one device. Saves space. If you don't like it, go for nintendo.

6) Stop making The west jelous and release all games you release in Japan in the west!!!
For the 5 or 6 people that might buy it?

7) If the plots the same and only the graphics, characters and so on has changed, dont bother on making a sequal.
Then why do people want a new Final Fantasy every time?

Convenience. Between buying a console without a dvd player and then buying a dvd player, or a console that also works as a dvd player, which would you choose?

2) What is with the poor and disappointing ads and E3 shows!?

"Wow ed, look at these graphics! It runs at 50000 frames per a second and looks more real then Michael Jackson!"

I don't understand your point. You seem to be complaining that they're showing stuff that looks good and runs fast.

3) Be creative! Start a new game genre or somthing. Stop stealing from Square or Nintendo! Stop putting crates and boxes every where just becuase its easier!

Familiar genres sell well and cost less to develop. And I'd like to see you come up with a good genre nobody's thought of before.

4) Wow, Each leaf can have its own control! I am really going to buy a game where you can make wind currents carry leaves all over the place! Or better yet, fill a tub with Rubber Duckies!

...What?

5) If I want somthing that can play music and movies on the go, Ill buy a dvd player and a mn3 player. I can get all that at COSTCO for less then $200.00!

Or you can spend $150 and get all that, /and/ a console to boot! What a deal!

[i]6) Stop making The west jelous and release all games you release in Japan in the west!!!

Export/localization costs money. Without a big enough market, there's no reason to port a game to the west besides satisfying some fanboy's selfish desires.

7) If the plots the same and only the graphics, characters and so on has changed, dont bother on making a sequal.

If a game sells well, then the sequel will also sell well because people like familiar things and liked the original game.

my point about #2 was that the companies show off the games by showing the movies and not telling people that it is a movie. Like that one football game for the XBOX360, it looks superb, but is the whole game going to look like that?

Also, Arnt all game movies called FMV's? (full motion videos) or what are they now? I dont know so sorry if im wrong.

ok, people are obviously having trouble with this...

the rubber ducky thingy: when PS2 came out, to show off its capabilities Sony had it render real time a bathtub with 1 rubber ducky. This year, when the showed off the capabilities of PS3, the had the same bathtub rendered only with more ducks (20?) and 1 toy battleship: basically the showed how the PS progressed

@Angelic: what's original with wind currents carrying leaves X_X

And about the DVD+console strategy: almost everyone already has a dvd, what's the point on including it into a gaming console?! what next - a refrigirator+dvd combo?

So, what's wrong with that? NVidia's demo for its newest and hottest video card is a fairy walking around, and ATI's is a chimp sitting around. The point isn't to show off a good game people will buy, it's to show off the graphic capabilities.

i don't like the strategy that if the graphics can be made better, a sequel is born X_X

35 times more powerfull?! Look at the screens for PSU - im perfectly content with that, and even 5 times better than that graphics will be enough for me. People seem to forget that the story is more important than anything else...

@Japanese games: it's not just a few geeks. Sure, there really is no need to release a derby sim. here, but a couple of rpgs would be nice; racing games; im against porting anime based games, but if they're really good - i don't see why not...

I don't know, some games are already so good that they don't really need new functions or whatever. Of course, new weapons are always nice but look at the Quake series. Did the idea change anywhere? There are some small changes but mainly new games give new levels and new weapons, and better sound and graphics on top of that. If you change too much in a game it kind of becomes a different game, while a sequel is targeted at the audience that liked the old game.

If you look at the original Doom games, the graphics didn't improve at all. Doom 2 had some new monsters and 1 new weapon, the levels were new and there were some new songs, but the graphics and the gameplay were exactly the same as Doom 1.

Unreal Tournament for XBox - see? even FPS can improve/change genre's! Some games are ok, but most are just milking

there's ok milking and not ok milking - regular FF games are ok, they're all different. But the new SE strategy about 4 FF7 based games (2 prequels and 2 sequels) really bugs me...

I bet the people who make games are actually a buncha drunkin smoking monkeys locked in a room pressing random buttons; some times they'll get lucky ither times they make just plain horrable games. You see those games out there and you can't imagine how somebody could make such a bad game then sell it. It's like there complete idiots and anyone else could make a better game. How they can make such a good game and then a horrable sequel! Cough!HaloCough! And they make really dumb levels like escort missions and you think how on earth did the designers actually think that mission would be fun...

I'd be happy if they released a classic FF game with the FF7 setting (which was great) on Gamecube!
