So...this is my first orchestral piece, "Becoming" (although I'll probably change the title...) I haven't been composing long, only since last year (when it was a necessity for school) and this is the first thing I've worked on really seriously.

I was so excited to find this forum *grins*. I've been getting so much enjoyment out of the little composing I've done.

Any constructive criticism is very welcome (I already know the dynamics could do with a little work, lol), and I'd love to know what you think! ^_^

Hmm. It's lovely. ^_^ I love the optimism, and I especially love how it gets increasingly softer and mellow in the end. It reminds me of the Legend of Zelda, in a beautiful village or when Link first wakes up or whatever. It could even be the world theme if you made it a bit more heroic-sounding.

The dynamics seemed fine to me. If anything, maybe everything in general was too loud, but maybe that's just me.

Becoming

Lovely chord progression, but dissonance in reed instruments (the last chord before it resolves in the beginning chord progression) never takes too kindly to my ears. :P I like it, though, nonetheless. :) The minor passages immediately after the introduced theme are wonderful, and the background strings are the perfect backdrop to the dramatic woodwind parts. Good cadences, as well. Uplifting piece with a very good theme to it. :) I like all the inner harmonies going on behind the spotlight-stealing flute part. I also like how unique you've managed to make the ending, creating a drawn-out cadence rather than just the expected V-I in two measures. :P Overall, a light-hearted piece that I can't help but smile when I listen to it. :) Great composing.

Ah, such a cute song ^^ So uplifting, and makes me smile, just like Gnomish, hehe . . yup, it's not that easy to make a nice and simple melody that's catchy.

Becoming

This song is SO beautiful. Like Al said, it brought a smile to my face. I really like it, and its melody is so simple and sweet.

I don't know what to say... ^_^ It's so beautiful...
