Hey, just wanted to see which game had THE best music of them all, but I already know which one I like.... :rolleyes: *hint, hint: Aeris' Theme, Interrupted By Fireworks, etc*
Although, Final Fantasy IX and Final Fantasy X came pretty close! ^_^ O well, I just wanted to see what everyone else would think!

Baah, no FF6!! So what, I picked FF8, "Fithos Lusec Vecos Winosec" and "Liberi Fatali" own every other Uematsu music except for FF6's music and "One Winged Angel".

I like Final Fantasy Tactics music. Rox. But still. I wish FF6 coulda been there...

FF5 music is great, and etc.

I only have two songs I like from FF, and that's Liberi Fatali and Hymn of the Fayth.

7! Its only like 16 bit music, but they re-did it for Advent Children with a real orchistra!

Bah. Anyone old enough to remember (or has an emulator) knows the answer is FF6 (especially the epic ending piece). FF7 is a close second though. After that the series really went downhill (and not just music-wise :bleh: )

I think square completely lost their ability to have consistantly great music in their games at the start of the PS2 era. The last games they did with great music were Chrono Cross and Xenogears (too bad those didn't have great GAMES to go with the great music). X and X-2 had maybe one or two noteworthy songs, the rest I've completely forgotten, yet I still remember almost every one of 6&7.

nah, 6 did have the opening song that is now the FF series Theme song, but 7 had ONE WINGED ANGEL, jenova, midgar and alot more. I actualy think Square can turn themselves around once more. They did with FF9 after the horrible 8, and FF11 wasnt that big of a flop, and They said 12 will be like the old ones in manny ways, but not in graphics and the music, I hope is a real orchistra...

There was a LOT more to 6 than just the opening song. The 15+ minute ending song is probably one of the single best pieces of video game music ever. As far as One Winged Angel goes, it's pretty hard to screw up an epic latin choir. Any edges FF7 has are mostly due to hardware issues rather than the actual quality of the music. If they redid FF6's music today (didn't they already?) it'd definately rock. But 7 is still a CLOSE second place.


What the heck happened to them though? FF8 had the opening Liberate whatever song (again, it's almost impossible to screw up a booming latin choir song), beyond that the rest of the soundtrack was completely forgettable. I can't remember a single track of FF9. FFX had that opening piano piece I sort of remember, then maybe one decent boss battle song. FFX-2 had.....Pop idol songs???? 0_O I still think it's a crime that great music was wasted on bleh games like Xenogears and Chrono Cross.

Eh, 9 was definately better than watching Squall mope and whine for 40 hours, but it suffered the usual fate of later FF games where sometime between the middle and end it just fell apart into a directionless mess.

Shame on kurai-okami for not putting FFVI on that list.

What's so rawr about One Winged Angel--I was a fan myself...until I got completely annoyed with this...--is that the singers aren't seriously singing. They're sound clips. If you listen closely, you can hear breaks in their voice.

I say VI myself...The Decisive Battle...ish just an awesome song. *laughs* Plus, classic gaming always had the upper hand with me...so...myuh. XDD

I actually dislike one winged angel. its not that great, until they did the reunion tour and orchestrated it. Then it was REALLY COOL!!! :DD but its not why i like the soundtrack. It just has the best overall music. I have the FF8 and FF10 OSTs, and 8's music is ok, 10's sounds alot worse then it used to, but 7 sounds good, even now

Noir7, and anyone else who happens to love (or be obessed with) FFVI, I AM SO SORRY FOR NOT PUTTING IT ON THE LIST. My mind was kinda pre-occupied with FFVIII, so I didn't even think of going backwards. :heh: (......)

FF7 still kicks butt over the rest of those FF games even though the characters look like LEGO people!
I think I should defend FFVIII, even though I absolutely HATE that game. Squall complaining every 5 seconds and the boring plot...but the "Landing" music was pretty sick.
I have to agree with "mystery_editor", I didn&#39;t like one winged angel, but Aeris&#39; Theme, whoa&#33; Every time i hear the orchestrated version I think back to when Aeris got Sephiroth Masume shove right through her&#33; :cry: :crybaby: But then I get rly mad at Sephy, <_< he&#39;s a jerk. A very cool, dangerous, powerful jerk.

I think it is a close one between FFX and FFIX, in my opinion. FFX had beautiful songs like To Zanarkand-my favorite, Suteki Da Ne, and a few others. But FFIX had it`s good ones as well. But overall, since FFX`s music was the most appealing to me, I picked FFX.

I&#39;m currently playing FFX and I have to say, the music really annoys me. There are some really great battle themes, but all that acoustic guitar pling-plong :angry:&#33;&#33;&#33; I like acoustic guitars but not in like 80% of the game.

I voted VII. Its music just has such a special place in my memory. :) And when Aeris is impaled by Sephiroth up above and that first chord of her theme song is struck, it left such a lasting impression on me.

I picked VIII, but for me it&#39;s really a tie with VI and VIII. I am completely infatuated with "Celes" and "Kefka" (the songs, not the characters&#33; :lol: ), And I love how "Liberi Fatali" implements the use of the orchestra. I own the "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" CD (themes from VIII arranged for orchestra), and it gave me a new found love for "Fisherman&#39;s Horizon", "Balamb GARDEN", and "Ami".

The fact that the PS is 32-bits doesn&#39;t mean its sound is you know? It&#39;s probably just 16-bit or something.

umm, all of the music from about 7 onwards is all propely synthed, and before was bleepy (i really don&#39;t know how to describe it properly). the synth instruments seem the same too me from 8 onwards, 7 was very heavily focused on electronic instruments, and 8, 9, 10 were focused on sythesized orchestral and other instruments. (man, i focus on the music too much...)

Personally, I love Final Fantasy 8&#39;s music. Especially &#39;Liberli Fatali&#39; (it&#39;s beautiful) I really love the ending song too&#33; After the singing it&#39;s just very beautiful and then it turns very fierce...I really really love final fantasy 8&#39;s music. I really enjoy it :3 I also like the medly, &#39;A Journey Through Final Fantasy 8&#39; it&#39;s really beautiful especially when i listened to the live version. Then next would be final fantasy 7 i LOVE &#39;One Winged Angel&#39;&#33;&#33; Then next would be final fantasy 9, I love eternal harvest it&#39;s a very interesting song (but i like the piano version more then the other) I also love &#39;breaking through the south gate&#39;, &#39;A place i&#39;ll return to some day&#39; and one of my most favorite songs of all time, "vamo &#39;alla flamenco&#39; the live version to be exact---sounded alot like it could be from the baroque period of music in my opinion...or was it classical :sweat: lol I love nobuo&#39;s works in any case ^^ in my opinion he&#39;s one of the best modern composers there is&#33;

Second Chrono Trigger again by Square
4th was FF8 edging out FF7

7 Xenogears by Square
and there was another square game somewhere there as well.

i like ff1's music best especialy the castle theme... is it cornellia castle theme only or is it in other castles?

i loved ff9 music. especially the "you're not alone" piece. and of course, melodies of life.

FF1-6 Has the best music. FF3(Not us3) was one of the best for an 8 bit soundtrack.

my first "anime" song was ffx - to zanarkand. it was so good that i had to find notes from that. so in my opinion the best ff song is absolutely to zanarkand.

never heard any songs from ff10 and above cuz i dont have ps2 :(

Dude, maybe people just like FF VII. Just because some site says that other games have better music doesn't mean that anyone else's opinion doesn't count. <_< I didn't think there was anything special about FF VII myself... but that is simply my opinion.


Personally... I like FF VI the best. It's got great music. I'm actually almost done transcribing Terra's theme for string quartet. (Actually... I've got cello and violin. And only a couple measures of second violin and viola because they're harder to hear. :heh: ) Next... The Veldt theme! :P Of course, FF IV has great music too, as well as all the other early Final Fantasy games. But my favorite has to be FF VI.
