I'm gonna get into trouble for this, but...

I'd like to see them take on some of the so-called "miraculous" events in the Bible. (Moses parting the Red Sea, the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Jesus turning water into wine, The Resurrection, etc. -- although they might have some trouble with The Creation, The Flood and the Apocalypse...) *Those* are some Myths that could use busting... <_<

=P *coughs* I think they prefer to concentrate on busting urban legends :heh:

Ah, the show's okay, I'll watch it once in a while . . um, last show I saw, they tested out if the impact from throwing cards could kill a person, funny, haha . .

this busts the myth of "if u bash th sword on a block of concrete, ur sword is doomed" thing. just dont forget that it is an L6 bainine Katana priced in the many thousands of dollas, so even if it resists BENDING TO 60 DEGREES WITHOUT ANY CHANGE, CRACKING OR CHIPPING, in almost any situations, i dont recommmend u buy one just tu bash up brick. i wouldnt do that to save my life. i would love to cut wet straw mats tho XD XD XD here is the full article. u have to scroll down a bit until u reach the L-6 Bainite-Martensite Blades - HARD TESTING MUHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! ( the guy wanted to know just how much the blade could handle, he got a run for his money, that he did)
read the whole thing carefully to be amazed!

That was hilarious! XD Helmets with feet! I liked the Bug Bomb House Explosion Myth testing (with a shockwave of flame :shifty: ), the exploding wooden cannon myth (in which they purposely caused it to explode after they broke the myth two times), and how hard finding needles in a haystack actually is! XD They looked through a haystack using different things (two teams), and they still had trouble with bone needles, metal needles, etc. I love the Mythbusters!

Edwin: That's very true, but how exactly would a person 'test' the myth? I completely agree to what you're saying, but just not with the Mythbusters. Who knows what riots of religious people would sprout if they question that?

i remember the one where they tested bacteria in the bathroom. and found results that there are small molecules of shit in your toothbrush

and the one where they were testing the orchestra with the dummy holding a trumpet with an explosive in it was great

I watch this show all the time.
I love it! ^_^

I loved the Escape from Alcatraz episode.
They actually did it!

And, I must say, I love any episode where Buster gets messed.
hehehehe

I love Buster. :)

I'd like to see them do the exploding microwave water myth.
You know, there's that email that's been going around for ages about how this woman's son was microwaving a cup of water for tea or something, and when he pulled the cup out the water exploded and burnt his face.

Hiei
June 24th, 2005, 01:10 am
okay now that is impossible.

How can water explode when a person PULLS the cup OUT of the microwave. That would be bending time or something.

i got a few myths id like to be busted.

first myth or waterver it is. sanosuke's double punch, in rouruni kenshin. its a technique in witch you punch twice so fast the impact obliterates anything. i know its not HUMANLY possible, but id like to see the mythbusters make a machine or something to simulate two impacts, to emulate sanosuke's technique.

second myth. i heard the M82 A1 special aplications rifle can shoot through pretty much anything, but there was a statement that a soldier shot an other one in the chest at a range of one full mile, and the bullet ripped the guy apart. the biggest parts of the shot soldier were the arms ans legs. now how can that be?

third myth. you know in the movies when the hero slashe's the bad guy with his sword, and they are both standing, and like a minit later, the bad guy falls in two halves? its would be fun to see the mythbuster rig up a full body ballistics gel, and put bones and stuff in it, then rig up a machine so swing a sword the right way, to see if its possible to cut through bone and gel, and seeing the gel staing there, until somting happens and it falls apart or something.

lol althoug those myths would be the most goryest thisgs mythbusters would have ever done. rip a guy apart wits a fifty cal? ewwww! (a guy made os ballistic gel and pig stuff probably, but still, its goryer than all of theyr other gory myths put together)

AD ANOTHER MYHT!!!!

you know in the UNDERWORLD movie? the part where the werewolf kinda "flips" over the car that trying to run over him? im just saying, if you were about to get run over, would it be possible to have to reflexe to do that, or would the windsheild just break or something? i dont think you could land on ur feet tho, but at least it would be better that getting hit by a car. it would kida resemble to the elevator myth, exep i think this one has a chance. well if i ever see a car coming to hit me and its too late, thats what ill try to do!

A .50 cal BMG rifle like say a Barret, or Grizzly has leathal range of around 3-4 miles but an accurate range of only 1-2,000 Yards (So yes an experienced shooter could hit you at a max range of 1-11/2 miles), It would not blow you to pieces, just put a huge hole in you. Though it would easilly take a head, arm, or leg off, if you were hit there.

Just remember it was made to take out tanks in WWI, so it is pretty much obsolite as an armor piercing gun today.

shade
August 21st, 2005, 07:07 pm
it was used to take down stationnairy planes, fuel contaners, personel carriers, cars, trucs, radars ect. A Raufoss multi-purpose explosive incindiairy armor-percing round will rip through an inch and a half of armor steel form a mile away. so a good sniper could wreak havok on a small base and leave, and no one would know what the hell whould be going on."destroy a few millon dollars of air planes, with only a few dollars worth of cartridge" so no its not obsolite.

That's a complete Myth, 35 yards was the max distance it could fire from to pierce 1" of steel. After it was first used, the tank hulls were upgraded to stop a .50 BMG, no modern tank hull can be penatrated by this gun. As for bunkers and bases, those are 2 meters thick or better of solid concrete, and it takes appox 300 rounds to penetrate just 2 meters with a .50 BMG, so it's not gonna happen. This gun and Ammo, was invented just after WWI, and is rarely used by the military today.

I did my research.

Hey no prob, a lot of what we take for granted is in some way exaggerated.
I'm not right all the time either.
A good myth to bust, is that of a charged laser, that can supposedly blow things up on contact.

shade
August 24th, 2005, 02:35 am
what do u exactly mean by charged laser?

in my mind the definition of "laser" is just the simpme beam of intence monnochromatic photons. i dont exactly know what u mean by "charged" but there is no way it can make stuff explode. exept if it hits something like dynamite, or is very powerful and hit water in a contaner. the water would heat making the contaner "explode" but even then the container would have a hole in it, to it would look like the time Jamie shot a bullet at a air tank (for breathing underwater i dont know the exact term lol) so there is very little cance of stuff exploding when hit by a laser.

the actual damage caused by lasers is when the beam of light superheats matter at the melting point. lasers dont actually do much other than HEAT stuff. surgeons use it sometimes because the cut doesnt bleed. the flesh just burns, so no blood can escape.

Anime_Girl_Jenni
August 24th, 2005, 04:39 am
Exactally!, but there is a common myth that certain lasers can blow objects up, like say the blast from the Death Star from Star Wars. It would just put a hole in the planet or whatever it hit.

shade
August 24th, 2005, 04:05 pm
but the lasers in strar wars arent actual lasers, since 1. you can se then whyle thy trafel in empty space ( you can only see a laser if it hits something and the ligh from the refraction goes into ur eyes. in empty space a lasers is invisible) 2. they go slower than ligh speed.

so mabe its not actually a laser and something else we havent invented, that closely resembles, but is identicle to a true laser, and can really blow stuff up.

Heck phaser's from Star Trek shouldn't be able to be seen but they're still visible because it makes better television, and yes Mythbuster is an awesome show.

Anime_Girl_Jenni
August 29th, 2005, 03:32 pm
The Record for a .50 BMG sniper shot was just under 2 miles appox 1,500-1,600 Meters. 1,800 meters is 2 miles

shade
August 30th, 2005, 01:48 am
isnt 1600 meters one mile? and exactly what model of BMG rifle?

Anime_Girl_Jenni
August 30th, 2005, 06:12 pm
.50 Cal. They all have the same range, 20 miles is appox. 1,800 meters from what I remember. could be wrong though.

shade
August 30th, 2005, 07:03 pm
20 miles is 1800 meters? i though 1 mile was 1600 meters!

lemme check...

http://convert.french-property.co.uk/

AHA!! ONE mile is 1.6093 km, and since 1000 meters is 1 km, 1609,3 meters is one mile!

@anime girl jenni - update, the longest confirmed kill was on the THIRD shot, at 1650m, by a Canadian (i am Canadian woot) sniper using the .50 BMG. the best sniper rifle right now is the m99 chambered in .416 caliber. its still developing and i haven't heard of any kills but it can on the first shot, consistently hit a target the size of a dinner plate at easily 2100 meters, with a proper ballistic computer.
