Techno (http://www.geocities.com/musiceraoftom/untitled7.mp3)

Fun techno version of my first composition ever. I have secret, quick way of turning about any midi into a genuine techno/dance song.

 Are you being truthful when you say you've never composed before? :P Because these are pretty good. ^_^

lenna: it's nice
3 am: I like the harmonies and the duet, but it reminds me of the James Bond song
drums: haha, I didn't expect a classical element in a song with drums
second drum: the trills don't seem to fit here, even though the style is classical
downhill: pretty nice, the descending chromatic parts are indeed "downhill", hehe
first: wow, your first one? it sounds exciting and nice but it's a bit repetitious
theme: very nice, dramatic, and "authentic"
song: good but similar to the style of the theme above

Try to make your songs a lot longer. Once they're longer, then you can worry about the form. And if you have form, your songs will be able to tell a story. And that's what they're lacking right now.

Then how, I pray thee, do you go about composing?

Why simple, I first "compose" song in my head, out of blue. Then put it down in finale and such, sometimes I do it as i go.

Don't have to. I feel the music.

That was pretty much what I used to do. But it really doesn't work in the end.

That sounds like trying to get through calculus while only relying on the "guess and check" method.

You gotta be kidding me. It's much simplier than that. >_<. First, you have to do it in a trial and error method, after couple compositions, your subconsciousness takes over, so your hand predicts where the note goes, and how it will sound+complex chord mixtures.

Those are some pretty good songs!
Lenna, 6/10 I really loved the beggining, but then you changed it and added some other part in that made it sound.....clashing.

As for your second drum song, 8/10. It was good, but then at around 30 or something, the instruments broke a part and it started clashing.

I seriously reccomend you learn how to read music, then learn about chords. It will help you TREMENDOUSLY. You're a good composer, and you have great potentional, now just help yourself and learn about chords and how to read music. Keep up the good work!

How can you write a song and not read music? that seems quite hard to do in my opinion, but anything can happen.

Um, I think Saint Savage has left us. He and Noir7 had a bit of a speal, and most of the Composition posters got in on it. I mean, you can still post here, but I doubt he'll read or respond.

Meh, I don't care what he believes is right, and I really think we should put this behind us. He snapped, he fought and now he is gone.
