Hmmm, I'm kind of interested in transcribing and tabbing this song.
edit - I'm not kind of interested anymore.
I might transcribe/tab it. First, I'll learn how to play the song. . . if i can.

The thing is I believe that tab is incorrect. First of all there is a no capo used in that song at all because on the 0:03-0:04 mark the guitarist plays a low C# (lower than the E String) and plays it a lot throughout the song. I am having trouble figuring out exactly how the guitarist detuned the guitar because I believe he/she detuned all the strings. If you detuned to this C# A D G B Eb and played this chord
7
7
8
9
9
7
It just so happens thats the first chord played in the song. The problem is, if you stick to detuning just 2 strings, the song gets kind of hard to play later on. So, I'm trying to figure out all the combinations of detuning on the other 4 middle strings.

I don't play the guitar, but my wild guess is that all the strings were detuned by 3 semitones (C#/F#/B/E/G#/C#) so the guitarist could just pretend the piece was in A major and perform accordingly. But I may be wrong...

It's finally finished! Not only did I tab the guitar part, I also made a full conductor's score of the song!
So here it is; attatched is the following:
Samurai Champloo - Aruarian Dance
violin part for 1st violin
violin part for 2nd violin
bass part for standard bass
cello part for cello
percussion part for drum set
flute part for flute
guitar part for guitar
viola part for viola
Conductor's Score
Chord Progression
Oh yeah, I also added more parts to the flute because I felt it was too short.

just curious, but would you say that the brass part is french horn? sounded like it to me :shifty:
er nvm... thot that said brass
but anyhow, the guitar part sounds like a 7 string electric
it doesnt sound right on a 6 string acoustic

Then play a 6 string electric? You may be right that it could be a 7-string electric. Maybe you can do a 7-string version of the music sheet.

gedtag, i really like your arrangement nice work! i have one issue in the 6th measure though. are you sure that D7 is not supposed to be an E7? let me know what you think.

You may be right. But I know the bass note is D, so it's some kind of D chord. I think I hear D G# B, so the chord would be D7(flat 5). Thanks for pointing it out.
edit: Also I'm kind of iffy with the chords on measure 13-14, can you check if you think it's right?.

im not sure if we have the same version of the song but my version is 3 semitones lower than your transcription. and i think your measures 13 and 14 are correct. im going to try to play it tuned down so i can play your tabs the way my version of the song sounds.

EADGBE ,but for some reason the High E I couldn't tune it to C# only a C chord, my question to you is detuning to C# F# B E G# C#
Do I loosen the strings or make it tighter thanks a lot I need, I need help..

You detune by loosening the strings. You detune each string by 3 half steps down.

I have a question. When you have to play bottom e and top e at the same time, which string do you use your pick for and which do you play with your finger? WHen i play them both with my fingers the sound isn't as rich.
thanks

I'm not sure which measure you're talking about so, here's a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAuQ321ESFc) of me trying to play the piece. You tell me if it doesn't sound rich. Then again, I'm not using an electric guitar.

So can someone tab the bass guitar part?
I love the sound of it, but I'm not good at reading sheet music.
(only experience with sheet music was 5th grade trumpet class lol)

nice video gedtag, but it's different sounding on an electric and i'm not as good as you. When i fingerpick on my guitar even with my amp it will never sound as good as using a pick. And as for which part even on the first line when you have to play the 9th fret on the e string and the 7t fret on the bottom e string, playing them with my fingers doesnt sound as good and i dont really know which one to pick.
thanks for the tab!

Maybe you can post a video, and we can be the judge if it sounds the same as the original or not,
As a transcriber, I don't think I'm responsible in telling you how to make the quality of the note "sound rich." I'm just responsible on telling you what note to play. Do you agree that the music sheet that I transcribed is pretty much what the guitar player played?
Anyway I think these factors will effect the quality of the sound (but not limited to these):
- the guitar, pickups, strings, guitar effects, etc
- the amp
- the player's technique
- tweaking the recording
Maybe I can try to get an electric guitar myself and try to make it sound exactly like the original.

I apologize if it seems that i have insulted your tab, for that was not my original intention. I am still learning how to play guitar and it is obvious [to me] that you are a much more gifted player than I and I wanted your advice because I am in the dark as to what to do when it comes to certain parts. So again, I apologize if it appears as if I am attacking your tab, which I am not, for i feel only gratitude to you. Where the video is concerned, I am afraid that I do not own a video camera, which would make it impossible for me to show you my technique.
Sorry again for the misunderstanding, if there was one, and lots of luck to you on your quest to obtain an electric guitar. thanks again for the tab

What is a good Homecoming Dance theme to attract both boys and girls?
At my school the homecoming dance is planned by seniors and this is where most of the money for prom comes from. I need a good theme that everybody will like. The theme should be easy to make an assembly script out of. I really need a unique idea and that aren't to cliche.

I just finished re-tabbing Aruarian Dance for guitar because they were off at Ultimate-Guitar.com.
It's tabbed at standard tuning, although you can tune all the strings down a minor 3rd to match the original recording.
