It's been a while since I posted, and I return with the compostion I submitted for my GCSE examination, now that there is NO way I can modify it. I wanted to show it off a lot sooner, because it was another composition that was the result of much panic (I put it together the week before the submission date). *thumbs up* Hope you all like - I do very much! The task I eventually picked was to compose a piece based on the Moonlight theme - suggesting to me a tune that wasn't obviously major... and I chose mostly a string arrangement (plus piano because... how could I not ^_^ ) because I thought they were more natural instruments...
Yes, that makes NO sense whatsoever. I'll shut up now and leave you with the piece... please let me know what you think - at least that way I can have some idea of what the examiners will have thought about it!
Thank you all!

(As for the name... I wanted something more individual. My Japanese is very, very bad, so I'm not entirely sure I got it right... I just wanted a better name than one that involved 'Moonlight' :sweatdrop: so I just tried to translate straight from English to Japanese; having found the words for Queen and Moonlight, and knowing some very basic grammar...)

I like the simplicity in this one. I'm sorry, I have no more to say, lol. Although I got irritated the way you used the violin in the middle parts of the song.

Good pizzicato ostinato parts. :) I like the part about 1/3 of the way through a lot, but sometimes the ostinato sustained violin part (non-pizzicato) does get a little disorienting. I also like how the cello (?) part slipped into the framework of the song without taking away from the melody's limelight. I think the various instruments work together very well, and it'd sound even better if you could get this song into an MP3. Piano near the end?! What a surprise! Nice use of dotted rhythms. Unique piece. :D

I like it. Don't see how it has anything to do with moonlight, but its still a good song.

The theme didn't scream out moonlight, but it did say night time to me. Overall great compostion, instrument choice (minus violin), and chord progression.

I liked the first 30 sec of the song. It felt like it was an intro to a Bigger part. But the "bigger" part never came. I sorry but I have too say that this song was, no good. Maybe should change the left hand more. And for the end , that was really bad. You just cannot end the song in 2 sec. Try to fade it out a little maybe.
Or even slow down the tempo a bit. 5-10 sec or even more, towards the end.

Yeh, I've noticed that too - it's probably because she's using velocity for all of her dynamics, which means that the sustained notes aren't crescendoing/decrescendoing smoothly into the next note. So if you can, try to use continuous controllers like expression and volume (and maybe some modulation, if you want) to smooth out the jumpy dynamics. Nice piece, though - I quite like the rather minimalistic development, especially the with rhymthic shifts. I thought the ending is kind of abrupt though; it sounded like it was going to progress into another different but similar phrase. Anyways, keep up the good work.

Mhm very nice background-type of song. I always imagined it being played by an orchestra ^^
I like this song though as Bloombrink said, I feel too, that something was missing. Like it seemed as if it was building up but then it just stayed on one level and then *poof* nothing happens.
Maybe an instrument that can appear here and there as a melodic voice to round it up?
