Hello to all ^^

The compositions I will post here are all unfinished, and they're more like riffs or ideas that I had, and that I thought were good. I'm a guitar player, so most of them include guitar (except for one which is only piano). Nevertheless, I often include other instruments such as drums, bass, keyboards ("fake-string ensemble", y'know ?) and even trumpet ! ^^

Also, I wish to say that even if those are only ideas or riffs, they are not to be stolen by anyone. But you guys wouldn't dare to do that, I trust you all ^^

Oh, by the way, good comments or bad comments are welcomed, but the most welcomed will be constructive and encouraging ones. :P

Oh, and for those who thinks some instruments sound weird, like, especially the flute, it's because it's actually doing the vocal part, not a flute part. ^^;

Alright, so here goes ! A progressive one, I guess... O-o;

This one was sorta inspired by Guns N' Roses's "Paradise City," especially the drum beat. Still rock. (don't worry, if you don't like the rock, the other compositions are more calm... I suppose.)

This one's more relaxing, with waves in the background and a nice twelve-strings acoustic guitar. Trumpet and ocarina as well.

A short piano riff that was originally guitar. But piano sounded better. ^^

This is something I composed while listening to Metallica's "...and justice for all," though it doesn't sound the same at all.

A variant of that last composition, with a guitar solo and overdub. Shorter, but more work put in it.

This is a tune made for an RPG, so it is loopable and very simple. Probably the one I like less, but meh. :doh:

I like them, good rhythm, nice melodies (though some of the melodies could use a few rests; trumpet players or singers need to breathe on occasion).

What struck me most about them is how excellently you handle midis. Great effects and pitchband use!

I'm afraid you've left the area of my expertise, but 5a was my favorite. 6 was ok, but I thought the melody on the violin was just not quite memorable enough. In a RPG, the huge thing you want to do is make it memorable.

Composition1

Cool beat and supporting parts. Nice guitar in the background. Nice use of harmonic support with a touch of minimalism. Really cool guitar riffs -- not my field of musical taste at all, but I can tell it's very well-done. The ending is quite unexpected, though! :unsure:

Composition2

Ugh. I can't stand it when people use "count-off" clicks in a midi, but I'll overlook it. :P Cool chords. Very blocky harmony, which is a good thing in this type of music. Really nifty guitar slides and cadenza-like passages! Neat supporting parts for the guitar. I'm beginning to think you have a future for this type of composition!

Composition3

Nice little fade-in. Dream-like state set up by the subtle little ocarina (?). Fitting percussion and very nice use of melodic baton-tossing (from one instrument to the next). :)

Composition4

Nice to hear a piano piece after all that guitar. :) Neat little ornament near the beginning, topped off with a nice ending and arpeggiation. :)

Composition5

Very catchy rhythm! Extend this song a bit more and add some lyrics and you have a really nice single! :)

Composition5b

Cool part(s) added in. This type of guitar choice is much more pleasing to the ear. :P

Composition6

Quite a nice melody set up. Repetitive but pleasant. I like the backing part(s) and the nice orchestration of the broken chords. :) Catchy little piece! The little vibraphone (?) part near the is quite a surprise and attention-grabber. Good choice in implementing it. I like the end a lot, but it feels like it could've benefitted from a measure or two more before finishing it up.

You've a rather distinct style on this board. You can do anything from peaceful little RPG pieces to amazing, virtuous guitar cadenzas! :) As Marge Simspon once said, "Keep on truckin'!"

Thanks to everyone who gave comments up to now, I appreciate them all a lot ! They are all very constructive and will without a doubt help me in future composition. ^_^

謝謝您們。

The main theme of Composition 6 sounds kinda like the Bacarell(sp) from "Tales of Hoffman"... but I'm sure that's purely coincidental(right?) Nice use of the guitar for harmony, though it wouldn't hurt to give it some more melodic parts as well (and the violin part some double/triple stops for harmony). Overall, the piece's a bit repetitive, but solid. Good job.

I enjoyed all the compositions. You copied "Paradise City" a little TOO much, if you ask me, but I liked them (I compose rock, too). :D

They're all very good, but I think you should make a full song one of these days; it would help you in combining the different parts of a song (intro, verses, chorus, solo, outro, etc.).
