This is sorta a video-gameish thingamajig.
One of those sad themes played when the world is half destroyed or something like that.
I did most of this in 2 days, though it took me 2 more weeks to stop being lazy and actually finish it >_>

Edit: Listen to the MP3 if you can, the volumes and whatnot were optimized for my keyboard, so some parts are too loud in the MIDI.

*tear & sniffle* It'd better not be the pretty flower-covered half of the world!!! XD

Anyway, I thought it was really good! :D It did sound kinda video game-ish. At the beginning I was like, "Oh greeeat, another one of these piano songs. " But then during the middle I really liked it and thought it was pretty original!

Wow! What more can I say about this song? It was great! I kinda agree with Sam-Chan about the begining, but it really set the mood for the rest of the peice. The echoey things at the begining and end sounded great, and good job with the instrument selection they really meshed together well. There was a part (between 1:50 and 1:55 I think) that sounded a little off but it doesn't really matter compared to the rest. Good job it sounds exactly like you described it! I hope we can hear more peices like this very soon! :D

Yeah, I've been thinking of re-doing the melody on that little section for a while.

Here's another little piece I made recently.
It would probably be a village theme (the main character's home town perhaps).

Listened to the midi (have to watch my download volume). But, don't worry, it sounded quite alright.

I really liked it. The piano was well done, LH & RH playing into each others silences. Then the strings come in to give substance. What's that little "plink" sound on the flute track? It's a nice addition, too.

Also, it's exactly the kind of harmony I like. Nice mix of major/minor.

Can you tell that I like it? ^_^

Plink sound?
You mean the echoing bit that plays during 2 of the main choruses?
That would be the "Atmosphere" synth pad effect, it's patch 99 on General MIDI.

That's a nice song, very pleasent to listen too. I really liked the harp harmony, though maybe a little variation would be nice but it doesn't really need it. I'm not sure if this would be a good village theme, maybe it could be an introduction theme, or play at the title screen. Not as good as your first one but still good. Keep it up!

By the way what does the "NCEA" part stand for?

Weird, I came here and nobody posted in half a day, then just as I was about to leave you posted O_o

The NCEA thing is my country's high school qualification system.
I was planning on making 2 seperate versions of this song, one for myself and one for passing the composition segment of music.

Itīs a harmonic piece. I liked it. But the one thing I didnīt like was the ending. Itīs way to fast. Maybe end it with the tempo slowing down?, Or fading it out.

The song was good. I liked the beginnig when the melody keept rising in volume. And the ending was actually good on this one.

One the next song, you maybe wanna want to be more flexible with youīre left-hand. Not the same movement all the time. Or it will be boring to listen to.

Good use of progression and broken chords. Sounds a little bit like my style. :) I like how the string line is so clear and precise about where it's going and how it expects the harp to back it up. I like the quick little flourish in the treble harp range near the midpoint. :) If you wanted to jazz up this song's harmony a bit, I'd suggest adding a synth pad ("warm" pad on the General Midi) to re-inforce the chord progression, at least in the bass part. The ending was well-rounded, in my opinion, and not unexpected at all to me. :) Keep on going!

I really, really liked the first song. It was very catchy! ^_^ The only thing I didn't like was the end (I expected something softer).

The second was pretty good, but it wasn't one of those songs that keep rewinding and playing in your head. I thought you coud maybe make another variation for the harp and put it in every other measure. Maybe it would add some interest in the song. ^_^
