Damn, that is the really good thing about digital, you don't have to worry about over-exposure as much - the glare from those sunsets and sunrises is really nicely captured and you juxtaposed it nicely with the silhouettes to add a focal point. Your coastline pictures are very good too - the jagged coastline really lends itself to photography! :D

Au contraire, the problems with overexposure and blown out pics still exist in digital... but I took enough exposures that I could delete the bad ones! XD Thanks for the complements! Because it's so damn easy to take awesome shots in Hawaii, it's that much more difficult to make really "unique" shots that 3 million other people haven't taken already. Someone said if you put a camera on timer and throw it randomly in the air in Hawaii, you'll get an awesome shot. XD So I tried to create shots that were from more inaccessable places, or tried to set up the shot in some other unique way.

Oh I seeee XD But at least with digital you don't have to pay the developing costs to get a roll full of crappy shots! ;) And I like that proverb *throws camera up into the air* Damn, ground shot! You must've been an early bird to get those sunrise shots - at least you didn't fall victim to the classic "fisherman standing in the waves with a fishing rod at 4am backdropped by a burning sunset" thing ;)

yup XD jumping from the rock... they had to time it so they hit the top of the wave otherwise they'd break their neck on the bottom of the ocean

Man, I love looking at pictures of Hawaii. It's like "wait, I live there?!"

Actually, I'm not from that island. The big island has the best sunsets because of the vog from the volcano (the stuff in the air make for a deeper red). Also, there are a bunch of gorgeous water falls on the big island. If you ever come to Hawaii again for a photo excursion, either come to the big island or Kauai. Maui is good if you want to see red dirt and pineapple fields, and Lanai and Molokai are good if you want to see... red dirt.

Edit: It's Byodo-In Temple, not Byoin Temple ;) The compositions in your pictures of Byodo-in temple are amazing, though.

It's Bhuddist. There's a huge East Asian influence here (as well as many Asian-Americans) because... well, it's close to East Asia, and there were many immigrants who came here because of sugar planting etc...

yep I'm part of a Buddhist temple. Even though I'm atheist We do everything from tea ceremony to kendo. I can't get the hang of Aikido though. was that the place with the peacocks? I got attacked by them... You don't really appreciate the beauty of a place when you live there most of your life right Pyramus. Oahu is fun you just have to know where to go. Blowhole, Sandys, china town ^_^, waikiki, and the weekly fireworks in ala moana.
