I can't read music, sorry about simplistic notation.

You like strong drumbeats, dontcha? :P When I listen to it, I can picture "the bad guy" bursting his way into a peaceful village and sending his troops to attack the villagers... :P I'm crazy, though, I guess... :) Lol. What's the "watery" sounding effect you used? Was it the "seashore" FX?

not my cup of tea really but to me sounded like a zelda seaside or something along that lines, but nice in the soft sence.

I dont mean to be rude Gnomish but i did not really hear a drum beat as such, i am a drumer myself and did not really hear a beat of that extent.

ow yer rate it well i would say about 7/ 10

I didn't mean to say it was loud, I just meant that it was consistent and very deliberate. :) Btw, I forgot to rate it... I've give it 6/10.

I like how the song starts, and goes on for like 10 seconds, but then it just lost its sense. It has some elements...but it seems like the more I listen to it, the more I want to turn it off. And yeah, I know how it is when you can't read notes ( I can't do that either ), but you don't really have to. I've used Finale for a long time now, and I've never known how to read notes, but that's no excuse for simple notation, just lack of skill. ( As for me aswell )

5/10 - Okay

I started composing/ using finale 2 months ago. Give me a break. NO musical background.

I'm sorry, but take a look at your posts for a change. You name something "Battle Theme, rate please" And then type "I can't read music, sorry about simplistic notation."

I mean, what do you expect people to say? If you don't clarify what comments you want, don't get me that "Give me a break" shit, if I say what I truly think of your song. So let me put this your way then.

Your song rocks, you're going to be a millionare, especially since you have NO musical background! This piece is beyond words!!!1

There, now I've given you the most constructive criticism there is, right?

It's about as "intense" and "x-treme" as an afternoon nap... on tranquilizers.

mm..I think it's ok for an intense battle, I don't agree on your "afternoon nap" thing, but I see what you mean. But you know, calm-ish battle themes are actually quite good at times. You can make sad battle themes as well, just look at Lulu's Theme (which is played during a battle). With that said, the big issue is to make the battle theme better, SaintSavage.

Yeah, but calm is not equivelant to N-Tense. I think the name or the style needs to change.

This composition seems a tad laid-back for a battle theme, but that could work to your advantage, no? Here's how I picture it (if you were to make it background music for a 'battle scene')...it's like the lull in the battle...the part where there is alot more dialouge between characters. That's the impression that I got from it.

But there is one thing that I would change, and that would be to add a bit more melody in the foreground to balance it out. This piece is also somewhat monotonous, so a change of key from time to time would improve it considerably.

Overall rating: 6/10. Very good, and even better with a few changes.

This one is a lot better, 5/10. First off, I think of it in Zelda: Ocarina of Time where Link is climbing the stairs (last set) to reach Gandalf. Kind of a pre-battle song. Or in FF in various instances, where it will be all these creatures or whatever are invading, you have to get through to get to the boss. Like in Luca(if that's where Tidus played the blitzball game),where you have to go through all those machines, finally, until you reach the boss. Anyways, I think you should add a bit melody, do a bit more with the dynamics, and make better use of chords. It would appear that some of them kind of clash together, which in most cases you want to avoid. I see what your trying to do, but....the clashing I don't like much. Good job, and keep up the good work!

same thoughts here, pre-battle or aftermath kind of music.. its too quiet to be "intense", it needs to be more "upbeat" imo

i'll give it a 4/10.. i've heard many pieces similar to this

btw, Gandalf is the wizard from LOTR :P forgot whatsahisname.. too used to calling him "garden dwarf" XD

I agree with Kou. I've heard too many peices like this. It's not that bad of a song, but you need to make some changes. I think the waves are a tad too loud, because they sometimes cover parts in the music that we're supposed to hear
I give it 6/10- it's ok, but make changes, and it'll be better ^_^

I like the beginning, alot actually. But the song does get a lil mixed up. it definatly is a soft battle theme. All i have to say is make up songs for practice. thats what i did/do. That helps you learn more and all that java.
Ah heck, i will give it a 6/10.

Hhmmm ... I do home he'll take a stop here and read our comments. ^_^

As for me, I just like the rest, I think the beginning is a great start. Well, as if moves on, the effect of the 'ocean' is not that suitable there. However, I find the melody still have the mood of battle therefore, it's not very bad after all. Well, maybe a little modification and edition would make it sounds nicer.

"Intense Battle" has a very interesting introduction which seems like it is going to build into something more extravagant, but it never seems to reach the climactic point it suggests. I suggest to keep the fast pace of the introduction flowing throughout the song, because making it slow down depleted the intensity of the song. I also reccomend another part, perhaps an electric guitar.

VERDICT

+ ~ Good intro which suggests better things to come.
+ ~ The drums helped the song live up to it's name.
- ~ It never seems to reach the point that it has the ability to.

OVERALL GRADE ~ 4/10 Has potential, but it has a long way to go.

JAPPO, you don't need to bash other peoples opinions. He asked for ratings, so everyone is entitled to their own opinion in the ratings. Just because YOU think differently doesn't mean you are right by default, that just tells us that you are...

EDIT

I don't know whether the last sentence would have been considered a flame, so I edited my post to protect everyones eyes. Ain't I nice?

k, i felt a little final fantasy in the song... but this song has a looooooongg ways to go before you get what it needs. k, battle theme, not really, i agree with pre-battle theme. bad guy? not really.... i can see how you get that, but i think it needs more 'evil' to it. the ending is kinda abrupt..... the wave sounds may have to turn down more.... i think it's overpowering the melody..... you've done a very nice job since you have no music experience...... but its pretty good. keep working on it!

Rate
5.5/10

EDIT: k, my bad, wrote wrong. Rate-6.5/10
