Alot of those are really crippling if you think about it, like Agliophobia- Fear of pain. Somebody who is like that would probably avoid every situation in their life that could possibly lead to pain. They'd have to live in a bubble. They'd probably freak out everytime they got a headache or a cramp. That's such a horrible way to live.

"Urophobia- Fear of urine or urinating." can you imagine...?
Almost makes mine seem like it's not that bad...almost

July 28th, 2005, 12:35 pm
phobias are not "caught" <_< . they develop. And it's not a matter of being in the right mind seeing as the person probably doesn't choose to be so afraid...It sucks so much not to be able to control your own emotions and reactions..it's humiliating actually.

i have a phobia of lighters that are not being used to light cigarettes (it is not just a fear, i am truly petrified of getting burnt by a lighter)

Emetophobia- Fear of vomiting.

It might not sounds so bad but to me it's everything. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about it. There are days when I just wont eat...I know that the way I react to it and the things that I do because of it are stupid, and I guess that's a step up from not seeing anything wrong with it, but I can't really stop myself. I think about being this way for the rest of my life and I want to die it...for lack of a better word, sucks...but anyways...sorry if i sounded rude in that previous post. I just get really defensive about the whole phobia thing in general.

[edit]: I'm too lazy to actually make a reply...but (and i mean this is the nicest way possible...which, since you are dealing with me, is very nice :D) No pity, please. all i want is to get better and i'm currently working on it so no worries ^_^.

I got Hydrophobia, the fear of water. But not just WATER, like drinking, but like swimming.

The last place I want to die is in the ocean or in a pool because its all dark and stuff. But in a the ocean, you go deeper and deeper, and things swim pass you, like sharks, squids and things you dont know...And people may never find you, and worse of all, ITS TO DAMN WET!

The funniest one - Japanophobia- Fear of Japanese...guess no anime for that person

Liquid Feet
July 28th, 2005, 10:02 pm
Dextrophobia- Fear of objects at the right side of the body.
Sinistrophobia- Fear of things to the left or left-handed.
It would seriously suck if you had both of these! x_x

Melophobia- Fear or hatred of music.
I could never live that way!

Phobophobia- Fear of phobias.
Doesn't that contradict itself?

Zemmiphobia- Fear of the great mole rat.
I find this oddly humorous.

Venustraphobia- Fear of beautiful women.
What is this?!!?!?!!? Who in the right mind could catch this?!!! Hey i use to have that!!! I was scared of beautiful women because i was insecure of myself. I always thought that they were too good for me and would cast me away...Im not scared anymore but at times i might choke up in the middle of a conversation (It was kind of like i didnt think of them as humans...just beautiful women...until i realized that the were people just like me i was scared)

Phobia of not having a phobia...Phobianophobia?

Baltakatei

I guess I have something similar to Aphenphosmphobia (fear of being touched). I always have the urge to slap away my dad when he touches my forehead hair when he wonders if it should be trimmed (/me shudders). I can't stand my little brother touching my shoulder when we're chatting or playing video games(/me shudders again). :/

My favorite humorous phobia is "Antidaeophobia": Fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/-phobia ) :P

Needles- Aichmophobia or Belonephobia.

and

Doctor, going to the- Iatrophobia./Dentists- Dentophobia./Nosocomephobia - Fear of hospitals.

I am terrified of needles and doctors/dentists, I try and do everything in my power to avoid getting sick and/or injured or mess up my teeth ^^;. I start to have mild panic attacks waiting in the doctor's/dentist office and I always need someone to go with me or else I will try and leave the building. ^^;;

When I had to go get shots and an exam a year ago, my mother had to come with me and I wouldn't stop rocking back and forth and talking quite loudly to my mother to calm myself (laughing nervously the whole time as well X_x). and the moment the brought in the needles I broke down sobbing and pushed myself against the wall and wouldn't let them touch me ^^;;

My mom finally pulled me away from the wall long enough for them to give me the shots and draw blood. And when I was younger, I bit a doctor who was trying to give me a shot.

But since I don't really see the doctor that much, besides exams and such, I try not to worry too much, though it does bug me a lot X_x.

So yes ._.

I already told Seraph this but I've started to develop a fear (not quite a phobia yet...anot hopefully not ever) of myself.I'm and emetophobia (fear of vomiting) I used to blame becomming ill on things like what I wore that day or certain scenarios (like going to a certain movie theatre or hanging out with a certain person).

I thought, "Well If I avoid these pants or this person I'll be safe." (it's stupid I know -_-) So yeah as the recovery process began I began to realize that it was something that my body just does every so often and that it has nothing to do with clothes or movie theatres....So yeah I try (sometimes in vain) to keep it under control but now it's my body that scares me. In a way I'm afraid of myself...

But like I said it's not a phobia and I REALLY don't want it to develop into one. lol I call them "secondhand phobias". Fears that you develop while you're trying to cope with the main phobia.

Does anyone know if there is a name for this?

toki

...cool? Not especially. It's the farthest from cool I think anything can be. It's humiliating that I can't control myself anymore....

Atychiphobia- Fear of failure.

I've got Aphenphosmphobia (was actually diagnosed).

I don't know what caused it, but I cannot take any type of physical contact.

Luis
June 2nd, 2006, 03:36 pm
Are you being serious? Wow... must be tough going through everyday life.

M
June 2nd, 2006, 05:11 pm
Let's just say I keep my distance from people when talking to them. Like, a lot. And when people touch me, I move away rather quickly.

Ladies think it's funny and try to touch me just to watch me run. I find it to be the opposite.

Luis
June 2nd, 2006, 05:22 pm
That must suck... so what do you do when ladies wanna "touch" you?

M
June 2nd, 2006, 05:29 pm
I jog away, or entirely avoid the situation. In real life, I'm kind of respectible to others, so they usually listen to my wishes, and the problem doesn't happen too often; unless they want to watch me squirm.

Or do you mean THAT kind of touch. If that's what your talking about, I've never had that situation arrive, so yeah.... I sure as hell hope that the phobia will not apply in that situation.

Automatonophobia- Fear of ventriloquist's dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues - anything that falsly represents a sentient being.

I don't know why but I just get creeped out by ventriloquist's dummies.
