Lego look fun, never tried it or touched it, because it's pretty expensive here

RD
July 29th, 2005, 08:23 pm
they are? They are pritty cheep in the USA, I just buy a huge bucket of them [about 10-20 USD] and a few bigger special models to get some special fancy peices. so all together its about $50 total. But then some parts of the world things are more expensive...

Lego is cool unless it's wasted on Evangelion related stuff =P

You just hate eva because....Why do you hate eva? I think evangelion is okay, but theres better stuff out there LIKE GUNDAM!

Looks like somthing else to do to whittle away the hours

Dont try unless you have the instructions and 30,000+ legos. That guy had so buy so many diffrent sets just to get the right peices for one Mecha, it costed over $300 and days and days of work, I tried to make a lame-mans version, all I got were sticks for arms and legs and a lump for a head. I didnt even have a torso!...

Legos rocked my childhood! XD I'd get stuff, build it, then eventually tear it apart and put everything in a bin from which I made all sorts of other stuff. That's why specialized pieces (they seem to be pretty prevalant these days) suck!

mystery_editor
July 31st, 2005, 05:13 am
yeah, specialised peices suck, especially when its the only thing that you need, and teh ponly thing to make it work...

I make very elaberate space shuttles/craft. They resemble things from Gundam....

I use hinges, flat plates, pegs, sliders and bells/whistles to give it a lice look.

My claim to Lego fame was a model of Thunderbird 4 XD Took me FOREVER to find all the yellow bricks I needed! Ohhh, I remember working my arse off to pass Stage Four swimming - because Mum promised me if I did she'd buy me one of those Aquanaut sets :D I used to make little mazes for our mice too ~

We had sooo much Lego, it was practically all second-hand and when we emigrated I spent the whole bloody summer making up Lego sets from the instructions to make sure all the pieces were there for selling >.< The thing was we only had one brick separator and it kept getting lost - I had NO fingernails by the end of it!

Lego is cool unless it's wasted on Evangelion related stuff =P

Thats not true at all. Just because you hate Evangelion doesnt mean Evangelion is bad. After all, you used to love that anime. If you used to be able to love it, then perhaps you can understand that other people right now enjoy the anime. Its not a waste "just" because you dislike it. In fact, its not about what you like at all, its about what the person purchasing the legos enjoys. If the person enjoys making something related to Evangelion, then it is not a waste because he found enjoyment in what he bought.

But to further clarify, supppose I bought Doom 3, and disliked it. I believe this is your favorite game, or at least one of yours, due to the amount of posts you have talked about this game. By your logic, since I dislike this game, you have wasted your money on it, because I dislike the game. Furthermore, because I dislike this game, the game is a bad game. But in reality, you have made a good purchase, as you have found lots of enjoyment from this game, that was well worth your money. Also, it may be a bad game in my opinion, but that doesnt mean it is a bad game for everyone who plays it.

Going back on topic, I used to have tons of legos. I built everything from castles to spaceships, even to submarines. But now I have other things I enjoy doing, so...they really are just lieing around covered in dust.

Wondor if you can make passable Eva's in blockland? might have to fire it up again to see.

Bwahahaha, i only ever got lego because my parents got it me to make me stop stealing my brothers XD It didn't work....I just made him include my pink stuff with the stuff he made, then took all the cool creations away and played with them instead! I remember playing for AGES with my bro and lego :D I never was much good at building stuff, but we had the pirate ship and the castle and all sorts of random playsets that were fun. I liked the horses XD Although they sorta got stolen as miniture pony pets for my barbies...

Laeluu

XD OH MY GOD! The horses are so awesome! <3 Actual legos are okay, but I LOVE the plants and animals and stuff. 8D I used the polar bear alot. XP Like, I used it once in a little model of an igloo. 8D I used glass as the ice. <3 XD Then I glued it to a magnet and used it to hold up pictures in my locker. <3 e.e;; I wonder what happened to that magnet...I LUFFED IT! XP <3 The head even moved!

unluckily it don't have the diagrams  but , it have the crease pattern ^_^ , i still didn't try to do it yet , however, i think that with a good logic a expert one can do it , and you say that it was one of your talents so i guess it wont be a problem for you ;) , if you manage to do it please tell me later how you did it , because i want to do this origami so much but i'm only and average paperfolding  (the most i can do are only the High-intermediate ones :heh: ) oh , by the way, if you're wonder what are those red lines in one of the crease pattern, here is teh answer: http://www.bluegoo.net/~jason/2004/circleriver.html

LEGOS!!!!!!!!! I love Legos! My favorite "genre" is the Bionicle stuff. I have hundreds of those pieces, and I've made a couple of good models. One of my friends took every Bionicle piece he had and built a giant winged demon-thing with a monstrous staff. And it could stand on its own. Legos own!

I still have some left though, just for show.

Bionicles isn't real lego. Real lego is building amazing stuff with little bricks. Nowadays lego's becoming more like playmobile. Just put together three panels and tadaa, you built yourself a castle.

I used to have a lego fortress that I had to build one little brick at a time. Nowadays all the walls would be plug-and-play panels you just place in, instead of little lego stones. Old lego rules.

RD
August 27th, 2007, 06:53 pm
What does Bionicles have to do with Lego stoned fortresses? Seeing how neither are plug-and-play pannels.

Bionicles are fun. Not as near as fun as what Angelic describes though. Whoot for blocky space ships and battles with my brother!

You would love the Star Destroyer and Death Star sets. Those have so many pieces, my jaw drops when I look at them because I'd be looking at a few solid hours putting the darn things together.

Bionicles aren't real lego, just like a lot of stuff that Lego releases nowadays doesn't seem like real lego. It's too easy, it's designed to quickly put together and play. Where's the hours of building that once was part of the lego fun?

Cloud9
August 28th, 2007, 10:00 pm
You obviously haven't taken a look at the larger sets. Anyways, just try building the LEGO Death Star. That'll give you a couple hours, at least.

RD
August 29th, 2007, 02:46 am
Of course the death star would take a long time because as claimed by Angelic, traditional Lego blocks are superior because taking a long time to build, and building is where all the fun comes from.

Because the play factor was never important with Lego and little kids -__-

I can almost agree with you however, because Bionicles have a whole diffrent feel to them, its not the same [yes you are right, it isn't traditional Lego, but it is still Lego]. But Bionicles are still fun.

Lego > Bionicle, any day. I think most of us who have fond memories from when we were kids of building massive things, being immensly proud of figuring out how to do it, then having a hell of a lot of fun with them before chucking them at the floor to start the breaking-up process would agree XD Unless that was just me, of course... but I bet bionicles would be more likely to break - most things new nowadays seem to!

And considering how violent my brother was... it says something for the abilities of lego that it was one of very few toys that he never managed to break!

HanTony

I was able to break a few parts including blocks, but we would always walk over the pile of lego to get to the other side. I have a lot ot lego:)
