I have found out by some reaserch that the place where My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away are set in are the same exact place! There is no direct link or a phrase sawing so, but you must look close in..

In Spirited Away, in the very begining, You will notice that when Chihiro looks out of the car window, there is a large Camphor tree. I was happy when I noticed that when I saw the movie. But there is more. In Totoro, the Camphor tree plays a 'smi-large' role in the movie. It may not seem like it is a good explanation for the two to be connected, but this may be..

That is a rough sketch for My Neighbor Totoro, and yet it looks like the same area where Chihiro see's the Camphor tree!...

Sorry I took up all your time :)

coincidence?
i dunno.... but to be honest, if i was a film producer.. id always have somthing somwhere the same :heh:
maybe he likes the tree being there.. and had to put it somwhere in both movies..?
but just because they both have it does not mean its in the same place...

but hey, nice work finding it out though =D

its not that. Its where it was placed, the surroundings.

That watercolor is a rough sketch for the movie My Neighbor Totoro, yet it was clearly used in the Movie Spirited Away...weired.

lol, Miyazaki and is very smart ways of doing thing. Hes such a child in heart he adds things ionly children would notice, and parents would take 1000 rewatches to notice. Gota love that Miyazaki :D

I think this is just because it's of the same creators, they put a reference to one of their old films in.

well like all of studio ghibli's works are interlaced with eachother =P. i bet there could be a lot of other things that symbolize eachother in his other movies, besides totoro and spirited away.
