New Thread!

Hi! :) I'm one of those people who compose for fun. I'm also one of those people who can't name their songs properly. I'm a classical pianist by trade, but I keep dabbling into almost everything. :P

Oh, and I always have trouble finishing my stuff ._.

Compositions:

Piano:
Untitled no. 1 (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=336&stc=1)
Untitled no. 2 (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=337&stc=1)
Bob and Tony (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=338&stc=1)
Sonatina in C, mvt. 1 (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=343&stc=1)
Nocturne in D-Flat (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=344&stc=1) (mp3 here (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=280) )

Orchestra:
Pseudo-symphony in C (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=345&stc=1)
Main Theme from a Piano Concerto Never Made (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=346&stc=1)
Carolers on a December Night (http://forums.ichigos.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=347&stc=1)

Ha Every time I would hear your songs more and more would come :heh:
.Anyway There are all great and very classical.
Untitled no. 1 and 2 Reminded me of some anime theme They were great.
Bob and tony the ragtime was fun to listen to. The nocturne was really one of my favorates. Sonatina 1a was anther favorate. It reminded me of some kind of chase good job.
Your orchestras were nice as well. The loud dynamics nearly busted my speaker :heh:.
Great job on all of them.

Nocturne in D-Flat

The MP3 sure has an edge over the MIDI. Such a light-hearted melody. I feel as though the suspended ("add") chords in the RH really add a care-free feel to this piece. The LH follows the unofficial "Nocturne rule" set by Chopin very efficiently. By this, I mean that the constantly-arpeggiating LH works very well in displaying inner harmonies under the moving melody. The accelerando near halfway through is playful, delighting, and even dark at times. This, Stefan, is modern Romanticism in action. You've done a brilliant job at achieving the Nocturne ideal. The contrasting sections break the piece into many different atmospheres, and that is one thing that really kept my attention. Modulation is very pleasing and subtle. The dainty arpeggiations near the tail end of the piece do a dandy job at bringing it to a close.

Stefan, your Classical style is nearing immaculacy. :)

Bagatelle in G
Very short piece I just messed around with. Nothing too grand.

Nothing really grabbed my attention in that song, except for that slow part...

Whee. I really liked that last one - both in its form and its style :). Form, in that it actually has a consistant one, which is surprisingly rare from the composers on this site (myself included, as I liked to work with more abstract forms, though often its probably because I'm just lazy :P). I haven't listened to classical music lately (oh wait, actually I did go to that Shostakovich concert recently), but for the most part, this seems very consistent with a Romantic era piece (though it occasionally reminded me of of rag music) - excepting perhaps for those more daring chord progressions during the section before the reprise ;). Anyways, it's good to see you posting your stuff again - looking forward to more from you in the future!

This is good stuff. I have to be honest--I really didn't know you existed until just now. I dig your style. I like this last piece, but I really like the piano concerto movements you have posted further up. Keep it up!

Yay, that's a very yummy song. I think the fast parts sound really hard to play, though! (I suck though)
