As you might have noticed I changed some of the forums a bit.

General Discussion remains the same, but from now on we'll try to keep it a bit more serious. The forum is mostly intented for discussing general issues.

Private forum also remains, but it's only for personal issues now. If you have a personal problem you can ask for advise here, or just lighten your heart by telling people.

Light Hearted chat became everyday chat. Why? Because with the changes in the previous two forums the purpose of this forum became a bit bigger. As the new name says, it's for talking about things in everyday life. This could be school, relationships, anything really. The difference with General discussion is that it's more personal and it's also more light hearted. The difference with the private forum is that this stuff is more general and generally also more light hearted.

So what goes where?

You want to discuss things that relate to having a relationship. Things that you think are important about a relationship, things that are dangerous to do when you're in one and things that you should do. As long as you keep it all general it goes in General Discussion because you discuss aspects of having a relationship.

You just broke up with your boyfriend or girlfriend and are feeling really bad about it and want some advice from your fellow members. Or maybe you have a crush on someone and you're really in a pinch because you need advise on how to bring it. This goes in the private forum because it concerns a personal matter that you don't want every random guest to know about.

You are curious about whether people here have a boy- or girlfriend and decide to make a topic about it. This goes in Everyday chatter because it's a general topic but you're not actually discussing it, just talking (chatting) to your fellow members about it.

I hope these examples make it a bit clear where everything should go :heh: If you have any questions please feel free to ask them :)

I think you mean private forum is more personal, yarr? XD Also... the Mood thread - in my own opinion I think it should go back into the personal forum. Dunno how many other people agree with me, but just thought I'd broach the subject...

With personal I mean more in a way like friends would talk to eachother during a get together instead of discussing a subject.

Does everything have to be about relationships in the private forum?

Toki: read under Everyday Chatter in bold print "Note: Only for registered members." The forum's just like what you people made of the previous Private Forum minus advice/support threads.

As for Mood.... the thread's basically a livejournal thread. Read above.

To echo Angelic.. the original purpose of the Private forum was to discuss personal matters, give advice, and generally act as a support forum.

Nope, I just tried to find clear examples of the different kind of topics and where they should go.

Actually angelic told me that new members can see the everyday chat as well. Plus there are new members in there anyway.

Is it just me or is the font for "Sheet music request rules - READ THIS before posting!" getting bigger and bigger in the music sheet request forum? :heh:

it is, and it will continue to grow if people continue to ignore it

What about questions dealing with computer hardware/software, etc.? (i.e. MIDI, screencaps, audiocaps, etc.)

Everyday chatter, although maybe we should give it its own forum.

The match-up thread and the mood thread, well...Even if they don't match up perfectly, COME ON! We can't have some newbies lookin' at all our private stuff! D: It just ain't right!

I kind of agree on Mood... there's a lot of personal stuff in there. The match-up thread is more light-hearted though and I think it's in a good place.

I don't think of mood much more than a mostly depressed version of the general chat thread to be honest x_x personally I never saw the point of it anyway, it's just a shitload of posts saying either "I'm depressed" or "I'm hyper" and people hardly seem to reply to eachother.

I've replied to people by pm... I like the mood thing... It allows you to let out your feelings "with reason" because think about it... If your posting how you feel on GC most of the time you'll probably get the " Why are you telling me this again??" vibe from everyone else. And me personally... I am not either hyper or depressed most of the time (I am sometimes though) and so my posts are a little more various than others

Maybe I am being stupid, but the Private forum seems to be gone for me as well as other users, and I can't seem to find any announcement or reason for why it is gone. Could this be an error, or are you changing around the forums again?

Fob

It was merged with the Everyday Chatter forum. If you look in that forum you should find most of what was left of the private forum :)

Here's an explanation for the Private Forum:

We removed the Private Forum because it was unnecessary. Come on, a music forum with a forum for personal problems? If you have problems there are tons of other ways to go, not here. It was mostly used by underaged drama queens anyway.

I just see no reason why to keep it.

I would hardly consider this a music forum. Just because the forum is from a music oriented site, doesn't necessarily make it a music forum. In fact, it seems to me that the least amount of activity is in the music section of the forum. It's more of an RPG forum than anything, as that is where most of the activity lies.

Another thing is that a good number of people here in the community have been with each other for so long-it's pretty suprising for a forum of this age, as well as a good achievement. The way I view this forum, is a community forum. A community that works together to get things down, and helps out each other. I logged onto IRC once, and somehow made it appear I thought everyone at ichigos was an idiot, though I didn't mean it. Instantly, maz was on my case, as well as Alex. Before I knew it, I was banned temporarily from it by Gand. What I am trying to say, is that people will not put up with it, if you even come close to making them think you dislike the community, so that's how close this community is. That's what I see it trying to be. The private forum was only another forum to help out with problems in the community, but not necessarily regarding the community.

And the forum is meant for just that-community. So...the private forum was to become closer as a community, in my opinion. Closer by helping one another with problems, and resolving things. I'm sure Angelic, Sarah, and Gand care deeply about this community as well, which is why they do things the way they do. I'm not bothered by it, just...saying what I think.

But even so, I don't think we really needed it, as it could just as easily be done in the Chatter forum, or whatever the name is since it keeps changing. I don't support putting up a Private forum, just give reasons on why there could be one. Though still, I think an announcement would have been appropiate, to prevent confusion among members.

Everday Chatter ? ŽLight Hearted` was a better name. I think Everday chatter is to...old schoolish

The point is that I don't want it to be used for just light hearted stuff, I want it to be used for any general subject that doesn't really create a discussion.

Noir7
August 31st, 2005, 01:47 pm
Yup. Besides, all the topic you would expect to post in the old "Private Forum" now goes into the General Discussions. So we really didn't loose anything :/

Maestrosetti

Well, the point of the private forum was that outsiders couldn't see it, and members could discuss things they wouldn't want anyone but other members seeing. Now, if they do that in General Discussion, anyone can see them present their problems and such. So, as a result, we did lose something in my opinion.

Neko Koneko

Outsiders can't see the every chatter forum either.

Maestrosetti
August 31st, 2005, 02:46 pm
True. Although, Noir7 said things that would normally go in the Private forum would now go in General Discussion. I think those topics would be better suited for Everyday Chatter. Not that it really matters to say that. People are free to put those kinds of topics in either one, I suppose.

Alright, let's take the example love.

General discussion: A topic about love in general, for example: "what do you think is true love?"

Everyday chatter: Stuff you'd talk to friends about, like: "Do you love someone?"
