Actually Tales of Phantasia, for thr Super Famicom, has the best music period, not only was it the first game to utilize fully vocalized characters, but it also had the first fully vocal opening song.

The two games that you can abreviate as FF can you guess? Final Fantasy and Fatal Frame 1&2. Why? Final Fantasy's music is just great sounding and Fatal Frame's music is creepy as hell! Love them games!

If I were to say Super Smash Bros Melee, would it be cheating? :P Not necessarily the original music for the game, but the arrangements of the classic Nintendo theme, nicely orchestrated.

Has anybody here played Rez? This music is integrated into the game in such a nice manner, and becomes a vital part of the experience. The whole game is based on the music, now that I think about it.

Hell no! Yasunori Mitsuda beats everyone! Chrono Cross has the best music of any games, seeing how Yasunori Mitsuda and Nobuo Uematsu worked on it. Amasing duo!

Some of the music made me want to puke and made me dizzy. And it wasnt because it was horrible, just the sounds and just the song it self. The wonderland song was one of them. And the Ashitaka-San song from Mononoke Hime wanted to make me puke too. It reminds me of a 60's book or movie, the retro kind...

OMG! I highly recommend it! The music was great! The best grphics I have seen yet for a DS game, the story was so good I couldn't put it down, and when I did I always ran back to play more, you should get it, I love it. lol I love the story, and it uses the DS to its full capitbilitys! ^_^ Some parts are hard but its kind of a short game, not exactly short but not exactly long and I guess it has a medium gameplay, its just hard at some parts but you will figure it out, its part of the whole mystery to the game! ^_^

Again and again! I have replayed it about 5 times and have not got bored and it depends on what you do to get what ending you deserve, its cool to see all endings, and its such a great game, and once you play it the second time some things change and you get an extra puzzle at the end. ^_^ I just love the story! lol ^___^

No Final Fantasy, eh? That's all right. :D I wasn't going to mention it, since the music is rather bleh when compared to others.

I'm not much of an old-school gamer, so I'd either have to say Soul Calibur II, Onimusha II, or Arcanum. Sure, they don't have very catchy themes or anything, but the music is great. "Hubris" from Soul Calibur rocks. :) I also like the general feel to the songs on Arcanum. Most of them are string pieces that really compliment the game.

I haven't played this game before, but Shenmue has EXCELLENT music, especially "Sedge Tree." The orchestral album for that game is phenomenal. I blame my friend for poisoning my mind with that awesome music. ;)

I'm obviously a fan of orchestrated and piano pieces.

Kingdom Heart's Dearly Beloved, and Another Side really get me as the best, to bad we can't say FF, guess we all know that it DOES have the best music, eh?

Kingdom Hearts has a great soundtrack, and I love Utada Hikaru. Legend of Zelda has really beautiful music...I also like the soundtracks for Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, and I love Final Fantasy music of course!

Hm...anything with Koji Kondo, pretty much every Castlevania game (particularly the first three), Super Mario RPG, and Super Ghouls 'n' Ghosts. There are plenty of others that I won't bother mentioning, but I don't think I could pick a favorite, though.

Castlevania music was always good, if not a bit short. But I would also go with Kingdom Hearts OST's. The instrumental versions of Passion and Simple and Clean are beautiful. And Fantasia Alla Marcia. oo...don't get me started.

Oh yes. Definitely the Zelda games. Favorite songs would be from Ocarina of Time, and Majora's mask. That, and there's a particular song from an old ORIGINAL nintendo game, that was composed by John Petrucci of Dream Theater, that I absolutely love, and for the life of me, I can't remember the game or the name of the song... I wanna say Nemesis. >.o

Actually they worked on Chrono Trigger together, Chrono Cross was all Yasunori Mitsuda. I agree with you completely though, Yasunori is awesome and I cant wait for the arranged version of the chrono cross soundtrack to come out!

I haven't played too many games, but Kingdom Hearts II had pretty awesome songs. While I wasn't particularly fond of the DOOODEEDDAAADOO happy songs, I really did like the others.

Arcanum also had very nice, albeit "uneventful" music. Oh well. The songs are still nice and soothing. Better yet, the soundtrack was offered for free on Arcanum's official site ='D

While I haven't played Ar Tonelico, Beyond Good and Evil, or Warcraft, the few songs I've heard from said games were excellent, in my opinion.

Actually. Any game that you favour, you think have the best music in them. I think every game has it's own special music which makes it enjoyable to listen to. like Kingdom hearts, silent hill, fatal frame, siren, (sorry) the ff series, chrono trigger, and all these other video games. As long as you like it, you think it's better than everything else. hahahah But really every game has its own moments of music. well that's just my opinion. You really got to thank the composers and the creators of the game. Without them our video games would be meaningless. So Thank YOU!! :]

Songs from games by Squaresoft/Square-Enix are mostly good. The Touhou Series have the most fantastically, catchiest tunes I have ever heard. Particularly from the game, "Perfect Cherry Blossom."

Silent Hill is my favorite. It's the best I ever heard.

Donkey Kong Country has some really good music for its technology (along with quite a few SNES titles). The snow music is incredibly chilling. Then again, that may be because it debuts on the most unreasonable platforming stage I've ever seen...

oh yeah! I totally gorgot about guitar hero! Yep, your right. Guitar hero is the best (but anime wise, kingdom hearts is!)

Nothing beats Silent Hill. The game is the scariest thing ever mainly because of the music.
Final Fantasy 7 is the second best.

FF easily kicks DDR's arse since DDR doesn't even have music of its own.

Hmmmm....Final Fantasy X and VII has the best musics from the series.....and for other Persona 3 has a lot of good musics

And i don't know if you all know this MMO game , but this game has A LOT OF great musics

Ar Tonelico has some pretty good music. Too bad I couldn't stand the awful gameplay to beat it.

Okami has a wonderful style, and a really memorable soundtrack. The Tales games are amazing, as well.

But in my honest opinion, Kirby has my favorite music. xD

I think that Assassin's Creed has beautiful music. I'd say the Legend of Zelda has it down as well. I was extremely impressed with Super Mario Galaxy's music.

I'd have to agree with Fab on the Assassin's Creed soundtrack but it does get a little repetitive...

Good game though it only lasted 1 day =( that was very unimpressive and the ending..... grrrrrr they better hurry up with the next one ^_^

I have to agree with you and say Chrono Cross. Especially the opening theme, Scars of Time. It's the best!! Chrono Trigger was good, as well.

I would say the Halo series, and ETERNAL SONATA! omg wonderful music

I would have to say Bioshock has one of the best soundtracks, especially because of the timing when the music plays in the game.

Hmmm.... I'd definitely say Chrono Cross... you can't beat that lovely music, well then again, that's my opinion. Chrono Trigger, Legend of Zelda series and FFVII/VI/IV are also on my top lists of favorite music ^-^

i really like some of the songs from Kingdom Hearts, especially dearly beloved.

i have to go with Tales of Legendia and Tales of the Abyss. AWESOME music, i swear. i got the whole album for both games on my mp3 player. its not one of those games where u DREAD fight scenes cus the music sucks. no way! i love the Tales series!!!

It's teetering on a really weird scale between Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy VI and Super Mario RPG

there are some nice songs in both Kingdom Hearts
especially the ones by Utuda Hikaru

Katamari Damacy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgrnIBlxZCk) has music that is unique and good for when you are on drugs!

The Phantasy Star Online series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantasy_Star_Online) has some great music to fight to and the ending songs are wonderful to listen to as well.

For those of you who haven't played it, its an older real time strategy game, (older than starcraft, so pretty old :lol: ) and the soundtrack is composed by Jeremy Soule. The soundtrack is INCREDIBLY amazing.
A 96 piece orchestra was used for the game, can't remeber which one exactly.
I recommend anyone who hasn't heard to listen to it! :P

Well...not including FF...I would have to say Soukaigi, but only one song really so I don't know if that works...or if I had to choose another thing...Xenosaga or Shadow of the Colossus

Touhou all the way. When I tried to decide my favortie song, Touhou automatically jumped there; problem is I couldn't decide which song from it was my favorite.
