I think my thread is gone so I decided to open a new one. (if the other thread is still roaming around... then plz close it. sorry for the trouble. Thnx)
Well... I'm sorry I couldn't keep my word about drawing people's RP characters. It's just that summer started and I was kinda busy. But now the summer is over I think I'm gonna start drawing again. (not RP characters, I hate breaking my promises) These are some of the "good-guy" characters I created. If you see any characters that look like some other characters from somewhere... please tell me. enjoy.

p.s. the second picture is just an experiement for my sig. I wish I can have my own sig. heh heh.

yup... there are created by Paint.

Sweet. No way they were drawn with a mouse, right? I want a Wacom tablet..

yellowmonkey121
August 27th, 2005, 01:09 am
actually... I drew them with a mouse. But instead of using that pencil thingy I use the line tool. so... when I draw... it involves an ample amount of clicking.

August 27th, 2005, 02:05 am
Ah, I see. Yeah, I guess that'd work.

Are you serious!?
Just with MSpaint!? That's awesome!
You made awesome art using a 'somewhat good' program. That's insane!
Keep up the craziness! lol

i...wow...i suck at drawing anything on paint...but you make it look so easy...
you make me feel kinda stupid...*said in a 'ha ha way' not the sad way*

Wow! Those are totally AWESOME! I do stuff in paint once and a while but nothing is even 1/100 as good as ours (I'm not sure how to say that so it will make sense).

yellowmonkey121
September 18th, 2005, 04:56 am
Thanks everyone. I wish I can show you guys some of my pencil-and-paper drawing... but unfortunately I don't have a scanner. Perhaps I can take some digital pictures of them and post them up. (some people say that they are better than my computer drawing)

RD
September 18th, 2005, 05:53 am
O_O Your computer drawings are better then what I can doo alot! And if your hand drawn pictures are better then that...

yellowmonkey121
September 18th, 2005, 07:27 am
Thanks Everyone again! This was kinda like a request but not quite. Hehe. I just decided to try something different and drew 2-D from Gorillaz. I love their new album! Especially Oh Green World!

WOW!!! You're drawings are WAY....TOO GOOD....WITH ONLY PAINT!!!
You're one good,super,cool artist!!! B)

yellowmonkey121
September 28th, 2005, 06:29 pm
Finally... I found a place with a scanner and now I'm posting up some of my fan art. This was about 3-4 years ago and some quite new. You can kinda see my style of drawing in progress. Later I will post up some of my drawings. Tell me what you think of it. (Yes I was a big FF fan. And you might also wonder why I don't have any male characters drawn but I will change that the next time I post)

Marlon
September 30th, 2005, 12:01 am
I like the Yuna one a lot!

Meer
September 30th, 2005, 12:31 am
I actually don't think your hand drawn are as good as the others you made in Paint.

Marlon
September 30th, 2005, 12:57 am
I agree, but the coloring for Yuna is excellent. :)

yellowmonkey121
October 1st, 2005, 05:15 am
really?hmmm.. maybe I think it's better than my paint drawing 'cause it is easier. Well... here are some of my characters. The battle between a ninja and a dude is very recent compare to other ones. They are teenagers so they are not that buff. Oh and I accidently spilled something over "Janice Linely" so don't worry about it if you don't know what that yellow spot is. And I'm not good at drawing bodies.

mystery_editor
October 1st, 2005, 06:09 am
the aerith and yuna ones are my faavourites, but they are all really really good!

crackthesky
October 1st, 2005, 06:42 am
wow. the rinoa one is pretty awesome, too.

Marlon
October 1st, 2005, 03:43 pm
O.K. Now I change my mind. :heh:

Your hand-drawn ones are better after your last post, because in the first set you gave us of your hand-drawn drawings, Aeris came out manly and Rinoa's face didn't come out very good.

But the last set was great! ^_^

Why don't you draw anymore?

yellowmonkey121
October 4th, 2005, 07:40 am
Well... I started drawing ever since I watched evangelion.... and I just can't imagine coming up with a robot design like evangelion. Besides I've been drawing, serioulsy, about 5 years. Before that I just drew for fun so I had a good run. And also... I don't even know if my drawing style is something people would like in animes.

septermagick
October 4th, 2005, 05:35 pm
I would

RD
October 5th, 2005, 01:36 am
I wouldnt mind! People like One Peice, and the art is as good as a 3 year old!

The only problem with your art style being in an anime is it is very detailed, so frame by frame by frame, all done by hands...Computer made frames are hard to do already! I would know, I make cartoons..

yellowmonkey121
October 5th, 2005, 08:47 pm
They are only detailed because they are "still" drawing... such as posters or wallpapers.

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 04:52 am
yeeeesshhh..... how much patience did you have? before i had PS i used paint, and did things entirely out of them too.... ^^; but they not so good, nor as detailed.... XD

but i noticed that with most of your drawings...... the hands are a bit small.

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 04:55 am
Haha.. yeah. Maybe it's just me... or is drawing hand the most difficult part or what?

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:00 am
i get lotsa trouble with drawing hands too, so dont worry. Its a common difficulty XD

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 05:02 am
My goal in drawing was to draw a full characters without having to use an eraser. And now that I almost got to that point I'm pretty content.

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:06 am
wow.... how long have you been doing oaekaki, anway?

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 05:08 am
what's oaekaki?

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:11 am
oaekaki is basically art done by MS paint, or a oaekaki board, such as pbbs paint

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 05:14 am
I don't think I've ever done that... unless you're talking about the Paint Program that comes in standard with every computer. I have no board... I draw them with my mouse.

edit: I think we should just PM each other rather than wasting up these spaces. I think there was a rule about this. no? If not then continue away!

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:22 am
i dont think its spam or anything... we are sticking to the topic, arent we?

so... how long have you done this? do you use the curve tool alot? I also did one oekaki :P Not as detailed as yours tho

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 05:30 am
Well... I started off just copying something. Like these dragonball z drawings. One's on September 10 2001 and other one on April 6 2002.

PS. Oh and I use the line tool the most... I also use curve tool from time to time

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:45 am
ahhh.... wow..... but how did you manage to do the writing in the first one?

yellowmonkey121
October 7th, 2005, 05:48 am
With a mouse... and a constant Ctrl+Z (undo) lol. Yeah it was pretty frustrating.

mochikin
October 7th, 2005, 05:50 am
haha yea.... i think you should get photoshop! its alot different to paint, but im sure you can do really well with it as well! :)

yellowmonkey121

2 words, TEACH ME!! Seriously youve got skill, its nice to see drawings like yours.

About the PS thing: You could always try The Gimp, its free.
http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/

There are lots of sites outhere for tuts (but im guessing after you get used to the tools you wont need any) if you have any problems you could post in the help with gimp thread by Crimson (I dont think he would mind)

Or PM me, Marlon, Septer, and Sondagger (again im only asuming he wouldnt mind)
So... When are we gonna get a new set?

You can't (unless you get it illegally which is, well, illegal and we don't talk about such things on this forum =p ). You could try the Gimp though (gimp.org) which is a similar program, but unlike Photoshop, it's free.

I HATE drawing hands! It's WAAAAY too dificult for me. But I'm really glad I saw your pics! They rock so hard! They're awesome! I've never seen anything like them! I wish I could draw as well as you!

septermagick
June 6th, 2006, 04:13 pm
I remember drawing on paint one time, and coloring it. It came out pretty good and I didn't use the line tool so it was hell, but fun. Good job! I like your work, a lot.

Distant Dreamz
June 6th, 2006, 11:18 pm
Yeah, your pics are awesome--I can't believe they've been done solely on paint...I used to scan some in grade four-five-ish and colour them in in paint by only using the paintbrush tool, blending colours, etc., it was crazy and took a ton of time, so I just find it amazing u actually started the pics from scratch! :heh:

septermagick
June 7th, 2006, 02:17 am
If you can draw it in paint then it is a lot easier to color it.

Well... apperently this korean soap opera called "궁" <--- "Goong" is really popular in Korea. Now I know this because I've visited Korea for 2 weeks and it's been about 6 to 7 years since I was there. "Goong" is I guess.... "Palace" in English. They also have an anime series for this particular one and the drawing wasn't so bad. Out of curiosity... I wondered how I would draw these characters from the Korea soap opera and this is what I got. I don't have a scanner so I took a picture.^_^

Question for you guys: You think the picture will look better if I add shades and lights? The problem with that is... I can't draw shades and stuff. Are there any tips in doing that?

RD
July 12th, 2006, 09:40 pm
My teacher says do is really lightly and a light pencil at first...

First try cell shading. Make out areas that you think would be shaded and shade them with a colour you think fits.

After you can do that get a good pencil blender (its like a roll of cardboard you sharpen to a point). You can blend your shadings with just one pencil type with one of them so its a bit easier. You can also use it to blend two pencil types together.

Experiment.

Luis

If I were you I would make another drawing to practice one, I'd hate for something so nice to get messed up cause you messed up somehow.

It might well ruin the image though. some pictures are at their best without shading or wotsnot. On the other hand, it could be a very good learning item.

well.... it's been awhile but i've managed to draw some more. i have three for you guys and i tried drawing my girlfriend since i recently got one (it's crazy i tell ya). she may look too much like an anime character in the pic but she is scottish-ukrainian mongolian-japanese. she somewhat looks like the picture i drew but her smile is so much prettier. she's the last one by the way.

I really like your drawings Monkey!

Do you take requests at the moment?

oh geez... i tried this once or twice and i failed pretty miserably.

ummm.... yeah. let's get it on. I'll try to do it whenever i have time. i'm pretty busy with work, school, family, friends, girlfriend and such. (sometimes composing music.... shhh...!)

here is the rule though:
1 request at a time
no one requests until i'm done with the last one
first come first serve
only hand drawn
i'm only gonna draw waist and up (so if you want me to draw legs... be creative i guess)
be very descriptive (pose, eyes, ears, mouth, nose, hair, clothes, etc)
no color
no background
only partial nudity
no gay stuff
2 characters max in one drawing
and don't get mad at me for delaying

if you can follow those rules (<- i don't really like that word though) i think we got something going.

Eis-jisuk
May 12th, 2007, 07:18 am
okok

I'd like a drawing of Aoi from Gazette based on the individual photo of him in the official site:
http://www.pscompany.co.jp/gazette/

It's rather small though, hope you don't mind. You don't have to draw exactly like the picture and you can add/remove details as you deem fit. I want it large though.

Thanks. ^^

Ok. My bad for the late reply but when Eis-jisuk asked me to draw this certain character, which was pretty hard since it was small. So i was a little bummed but now I remember I can draw however I wish so I drew the character... long story short... I did it.

Well... I don't know how to teach you but I can tell you how I learned to draw. I started drawing when Neon Genesis Evangelion was popular and I just watched anime and read manga and started to draw characters from Evangelion, Dragonball Z, Bubble Gum Crisis and Pokemon. Yeah... I like girls so I draw them a lot. and if you see my drawings I only got few angles down: front, side, 45degree left and right and maybe angle from below. I still got to work on the bodies and stuff but long story short you just gotta keep on drawing. since I can't teach you everything it'll be better if you ask me specific question

Check here, this is a very good site on how to start out with the basics in anime/manga art.... I found it very helpful, and to this day use it as a sort of guide...

http://www.cablenet.ne.jp/~japanime/tutorial/hair1.html

And here's some other stuff that'll teach you how to draw different parts of the character anatomy in animes and mangas...

http://www.howtodrawmanga.com/tutorial.html

Monkey, this'll is a good place to start working on body work and different angles as well, just something to get you started is all... Though this site may be very, very old, it has been proved useful to many artists on this forum... I think... for me at least...

Any tips for coloring?

My first tip for coloring would be to learn how to draw before worrying about coloring. ;P

Well that depends, there are a vast different styles of coloring... there's penciled coloring, markers, painting, digital coloring, and etc.... Anyone in particular?

@ Crimson
Gawd I wish I could say all of the above but I'm going with pencil coloring :O

Hey sorry for the delay, I've found a bit of tips...

http://drawsketch.about.com/cs/animemanga/a/color_anime.htm

I have a book on it by Shojo beat... Though some people may not like it, it gives pretty good tips and that's where most of my skills come from. They give some specifics about pencil and ink coloring on there... I'll try and post a scan of it asap...

thanks for the site... but i think i'm more of a visual learner. I've read it but I got to see the drawings... or.... maybe i'm just lazy. I know I draw girls alot but I think I can draw guys too... and i think dudes are easier to draw don't you think? Girl.... whatever they do they are friggin' complicated! But hey that's what the guys are for... to simplify their lives. lol

Lol I agree as well, girls are pretty hard to draw... Though, I've gotten a bit better at the facial views. Just need to work more on the bodies now.

That's a good drawing too, nice shading. :P

Looks really good. I want to say the face could use a tiiiiiiiiiiny tiny tiny adjustment but I can't tell what kind, so I'll just shut up. ^_^

Yeah! Once again, awesome work!!! :thumb:
I really like her outfit and how you drew those lines on the kimono, made it look so realistic
Hmmmm, i agree with Nate River about the tiiiiiiiiiiny tiny tiny adjustment.... but i also dont know what it is, so i guess i should keep quiet too

Her right cheek looks slightly out of alignment with her left - like she has one cheekbone that's higher than the other - that's the only tiny tiny thing I can notice, lol. But sooooooooooo pretty!

Whilst the overall drawing is awesome, she doesn't look totally Japanese in my opinion...

in that case i'm gonna try one more time to see if she looks more japanese

I think it may be partially the eyes - because they look more western-shaped than Asian.

Nate River

I still couldn't figure out what about the face didn't fit with me so I did something I probably shouldn't have done and fiddled with it a bit in MS paint. The changes I made were very very subtle but they seem to fit in a little better to me. First off, I brought in her right jawbone a bit and added a bit of a cheekbone on the same side. Second, I shortened the bridge of the nose and made the eyes a teeny tiny bit smaller while extending the outside corner of her left eye a bit. Lastly I brought the mouth and ear closer to the inside of the face by about two or three pixels.

If you'd like to see what I ended up with and promise not to murder me for mutilating your beautiful drawing, open the spoiler. :P

Yes, I agree, but, still trying to fufill the promise as much as I can... It could still be a bit better. What seems to be a bit wierd to me is that she has more of a manly facial stature... I believe that she should have a more curved, rounded face. The current stature just doesn't go well with the body... not to be mean or demanding to the art, just sharing my personal opinion is all.

Oh my god! Oo
You can't be jealos, cause I AM jealous!
Those pictures are miraculous ^.^
I am not able to draw with pencils... But I also have to say that we draw completly different. My style is more... 'comic-like' and yours is more realistic :)
I mean... I just draw since I was 11 or 12, so ca. 3 years...
Your characters are so... live... They seem as if you took a photo, when they moved^^ I have problems with such things^^'
May you tell me how long you are working for one sketch?
I luv your pics  :)

XD Unfortunately, the edges of marijuana leaves are more jagged. Very nice picture by the way.

The only thing I didn't like about this pic was the hand. Maybe the fingernail is a bit small? I agree the eyes look more western >_< For some reason looking at her eyes makes me think "NARUTO" lmao. Don't ask me why, it's too early.

Interesting pose, and pretty cool foreshortening on her right arm. I'm not really believing her stance though; with that broken looking leg of hers, coupled with the way she's leaning over, she'd almost surely fall down methinks.
If she's on the verge of collapsing, and that's what you were going for, then nevermind my comment. However, it looks to me like you wanted her to be heroically keeping her ground despite her injuries - and she looks like she's about to lose her ground...or rather, find it with her face. X3

Still a cool drawing though. It's nice to see you trying these tougher poses. It's a sign that you'll definitely get better and better very quickly.
Also, you have a pretty sweet signature. Do you practice it or something? My signature looks like crap, so I just print out my name on all my drawings, hahah. :heh:

Then again, I use my tablet for basically all my finished works, so it's pretty impossible for me to sign my on that thing anyway. Too much lag, heh.

awesome job there!!!
it looks really cool!!! ^_^
Just want to add on to what HopelessComposer said :D
Yeah... i guess if you want her to look a bit stronger... maybe you would like her feet to look a bit more strong like a bit firm on the ground... especially her right, wait no left, no no it's right.. yup! it's right.. her right feet to be a bit more firm on the ground cos it looks like she's gonna lose balance!! and maybe have her looking forward-uppish (is uppish even a word? lol!)... instead of looking down... but if that wasn't your intention... then!! :heh:

OH OH!!! you're signature is really cool too!!! it's sooo well, COOL!!! ^_^

... you did a really good job!!
it looks really good and your awesome signature just makes it look even better!!!
