Lol, you don't play source? People still play the old one?
I play CS: Source at times, it's a really good game but a lot of bakas ruin this game. If you play it with the right people it's a real fun game.

But to answer your question, I suggest you quit playing the old CS and just get Half Life 2 and play CS Source. Or do you have both?

There are atleast two threads on Counter Strike here.

Source > 1.6 ;)

i only play counter-strike at LAN parties. its the only place where ppl dont boot you for hacking. they just swear at you and try to attack you. (no, really, physically attack you)

other at LAn parties, i never play counter-strike. i dislike it very much. :\

lol 1.6 is still played by MANY MANY more players, and it's still BETTER, the pros never left 1.6 either (those who make money threw the game, travel around the world to compete etc). Source is only good for those who never played 1.6 before.

I think cs 1.6 is better than source, because the controls and the aim from source is a little bad or stupid! I find source is a nice funny game for newbies who never play that game before, because the game have a easily aim.
But thats my opinion.

Well ,DaveX, I never played CS1.6. But surely most people want to play the updated version.
CS1.6 looked fun but I never had HL1 so I never had the chance to play it.

My opinion is that 1.6 and Source are the exact same besides the better graphics and more freedom on customization for Source. -_-

i agree with that. i have both, and i play the new one alot more, just because i like the graphics better. other then that, its just people who can't or wont upgrade to source who play the old one. plus, being able to shoot objects and they actually move is pretty damn fun if you are bored.

It's called CS: Source because it uses the Source engine, which is basically the ragdoll and the physics effect. That makes the game much more fun. You should also try out HL2 Deathmatch because you can use the gravity gun and gravity gun=endless fun.

i know, i own 'em, and i know why they are called source. and i agree. gravity gun=endless fun

@Kozmo: Actually you're wrong. People don't want to play the updated version. Well, some do.. but the fact that CS:S is loosing players everyday is obviously because it isn't as good as its predecessor.

@Sarkurah: Then you obviously haven't played 1.6 very much. For me, DaveX and many more, the change is huge =/ And for most oldskool CS players, the change is for the worse. The beauty with CS wasn't the graphics - it was the unique gameplay the HL engine spat out. With the new Source engine, all that changed, and that's why it's not accepted by the old players.

i was never into it when it was a new thing, but i got into 1st person shooters around the time battlefield 1942 came out, and i stuck with that. eventually i did get into HL2, and then HL1, but i could never get into the original CS. when i got source, i just liked it and stuck with it

I didn't say all, just most. The people I play with online used to play CS 1.6 but prefer Source much more. I understand that others may not like CS Source as much as 1.6, that's perfectly normal, they played 1.6 for years and just got too used it then when they started playing Source, it wasn't the same as it used to be.

people just don't like change. just like i'd play HL2:DM straight away if given the choice between HL2:DM and HL:DM

Hmm maybe the oldest one? :P
I begin to play CS when it came 1.5, but what so special with 1.6? it's still same? :\

I still don't understand completely though. I know most games aren't based on how good graphics are, but what did the Source engine change so much?

Btw, I can only play 1.6 because I don't have Half-Life 2. I only play Source when I visit a friend.

..and thanks for spelling my name correct! XD

Also, anyone want to play some right now? XD

Oh no, I get it. I stated it perfectly clear that it really depends on the gamers, some might of gotten too used to 1.6 and preffered the maps on it, that's totally kool.

Meer

But aren't the maps on Source almost a complete replica of the maps on 1.6, just some graphic changes and custom changes?

E- Anyone want to play? XD

Kozmo
September 28th, 2005, 12:35 am
Maybe, but it feels different to the 1.6 gamers. Quite hard to explain, ask the 1.6 players, they'll tell you ;p
Plus they might of had much more fun in the olden days too, like me with Halo actually. I prefer Halo 1 over 2 a lot because I remember playing it constantly with my freinds but Halo 2 feels different....in a bad way too.

Uhh.. I play 1.6 more then Source because I don't actually own Source.

Yet still you don't seem to get the fact that it isn't just the graphics that has changed. To good players, the gameplay has changed sooooo much. And then if you have an active clan, you probably don't want to switch over to an almost different game (yes, it is different)

its a good point. i used 1.6, but then when i got source, i was such a newbie to the game, i was glad there was the change, especially becuase we had gotten a computer a while before that could actually play these new games. i got involved in HL2 and CS:S because of the simple fact that i now was able to play them, and wasn't limited by old hardware.

Then you wouldn't know then would you?
I haven't played the old CS but now I don't want to because I know I wouldn't like it. I am way too used to Source now. Noir7 makes a very good point.

Kay, I'm reviving this topic...

Alright, I play counter-strike 1.6 non-steam. I downloaded the game off the internet for online multiplayer use. Is non-steam illegal? Does anyone else here play 1.6 Non Steam? If so, I got a good server to play with.

Meer

Non-steam is illegal.

Does it cost money to play online for a bought version of counterstrike?

Meer
March 25th, 2007, 05:02 pm
No, but you have to use the legit client, otherwise it is illegal and proves that you have not purchased the game yourself.

M
March 25th, 2007, 05:05 pm
You do know.... There was a conuter strike before steam... It's not illegal, so long as you have a game key (and I'm not talking about the keycode glitch, either).

Meer
March 25th, 2007, 07:34 pm
I know that, but he's playing 1.6 and Non-steam is not a legit client to use.

I like 1.6 and Source about the same. t
Though... I lean towards 1.6 because everyone on the face of the earth can run it...and lets face it...the graphics rock, true the pretty graphics and physics in source are fun..but some maps (like the assault remake...)make me wanna hurl. For a quick 15-20 rounds I don't mind which I play...but if its lan/hamachi with people I know, I definetly prefer 1.6.
