I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the best anime villians.

I like Akabane Kurodo of Get Backers, and Gauln of Full Metal Panic! I think they're both really cool and great villians. Both a little nutty, but one is really calm and polite, the other a total psycho with a vendetta against the hero.

Any other cool villians?

Naraku from InuYasha, of course. He could teach even Karl Rove a thing or two about manipulation and mind games...

My too favorite are already mentioned. Legato and Akabane.

My favorite hands down is the Count in Gankutsuou...the smartest villain of all... he's the Count of Monte Cristo.. you can't beat him in pre-planning.

My next favorite would probably be Ohtori Akio of Utena. He has so much depth to him that it hurts to try to piece it together.

Orochimaru and Itachi of Naruto ... Itachi because I think he has numerous reasons we do not yet know of... Orochimaru because he's so incredibly driven without remorse.

Shishio Makoto of Rurouni Kenshin was amazingly smart and strong... I'd add Saitou Hajime but he's not really in "villain" status.

I've always liked Nakago of Fushigi Yuugi, Kurei of Flame of Recca, and Knives of Trigun. ^^; Treize of Gundam Wing as well... Ikari Gendo of Evangelion, Muraki of Yami no Matsuei. Dispell of Tenshi ni Narumon. There's more... I just really adore villains because they're generally far more interesting than non-villains.

Took longer than I thought for someone to mention Gendo, he aint a villain really, antihero maybe but not villian

True, Gendo might be a bastard but in the end his intentions were good. He just used the wrong way I guess.

Legato rocks. Can't think of anyone else right now.

I don't consider Sesshoumaru a villain anymore, what with Rin and all...

But Naraku, hands down.

First post ever in the Anime section. I don't watch anime anymore, well actually I can't stand it.

Though I do remember watching Evangelion, and enjoying it. Who would you consider to be the bad guy in that series?

Neko Koneko

Probably the people from SEELE.

They're not bad, just after different goals to the other guys. Like Majestic XII in Deus Ex, they didn't have to be the bad guys, the Illuminati were after the same goal, but you help them and not MJ12. FOr all you know Shinji might have decided to work for SEELE if he was so pushed in that direction.

An anti-hero can easily be a villain. So many villains have good intentions but go about them in the wrong way... or are disillusioned in some fashion and go to extreme measures.

My favorite anime villan would have to be Knives from my favorite anime Trigun. I like Knives because of how cold-boolded he is. For example he was only going to let Rem live because Vash liked her.

I would have to say Porgress from Outlanders.

(yes that's an Anime way back before most of you were born, the english dub is dated 1989)

@angrybeaver101: Read.... somebody said Orochimaru O.o

Count of Monte Cristo is awesome (Gankutsuou). I don't think there are any other villain that can measure up to Gankutsuou...

I also agree, Sesshomaru isn't really a villan, just jelous because InuYasha got the cool sword. *hehe* My favorite villan would have to be Dakki from Soul Hunter (U.S. Title. Senkaiden Houshing Engi is the Japanese title.) She's a little crazy the whole way she goes with things...but aren't all bad guys kinda like that?

Seishirou from Tsubasa Chronicles isnt really considered a villan, but for now lets say that he is. He would be my best villan. Calm, fast, deadly, murderer, smart, and did i forget to mention that he smiles sweetly through fighting?

Here's one example (http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/7338/tsubasa04716173so.png)

Continued. (http://img226.imageshack.us/img226/1807/tsubasa047189rx.png)

Otherwise, I would choose Bakura (http://img369.imageshack.us/img369/5029/09g0mr.jpg) from Yu Gi Oh. A deadly spirit taken over a helpless body, never giving up on getting what he wants. Thats true determination.

Seishirou reminds me of Akabane (http://www34.brinkster.com/worldshards/honky%20tonk/akabane.htm) from GetBackers.

All for Akabane from GetBackers, rather spooky guy and to all the Trigun fans out there, Legato. Hands down on this one, he rocks.

I'd say Sakujun from Saiunkoku Monogatari--definitely one of the best villians EVER. Granted, I haven't had the chance to sample all the villians out there, but still. He's awesome in a surprisingly unexpected way. Yes, he's an uber-creep who's a bit psychotic and messed up, but along with that, there was something about his child-like personality and innocence (he's not innocent in the conventional way...okay, that makes no sense, but bear with me!) that really drew a lot of sympathy from me. So basically, I both despised and sympathized with him.

And then episode 35 did it for me. ;)

That was the saddest death I've ever seen. Not only was there unrequited love, but there was also the fact that Sakujun basically threw away his own life when he drank the hot water, knowing that he would soon die. Of course, there was a lot of twisted stuff along with that, but whatever.

Totally didn't meant to ramble on~
