Two days ago, it was my cousin's fifteen's, and some girls just got me by the hand and took me to the dance floor for no apparent reason. There was like five girls dancing around me, and they were all like bootydancing (they were all about fifteen, which really amused me since I'm 13 XD ).

Well, the problem was: I couldn't dance. I didn't know how to (I still don't :heh: ), and even if I did, I'm pretty I wouldn't dare to do it. How do I overcome this obstacle?

That time, they seemed like they didn't really care if I danced or not, as long as their asses were all over me, but learning to dance seems to be important for the future.

How do I overcome this fear and cluelessness when it comes to dancing?

It's quite simple, really. You must simply shake what your momma has given you.

Really, if you're just dancing for fun then people aren't going to be scrutinizing you. Just feel the "music" and move accordingly. If all you can do it bend your knees, then fine. If you want to breakdance, that's cool too. If you wanna get your freak on, be my guest.

And slow dancing is just slowly rocking back and forth while rotating slowly.

Your scared of being embarassed. Learn how to dance and you will feel more comfortable to do it in public. Try learning then dance in front of some friends who you trust and from that will your confidence sprout!

If you were 18, I would've said Jack Daniels is your friend. Since you're not, the easiest thing to do is sway with the music. If you can, try holding, lightly onto one of the girls hips if possible. Then sway. They'll do the rest of the work for you.

At least thats how it work here. The Jack Daniels does the work for me.

Do those really dorky dances that you see on TV
People will laugh, you laugh with them
and learn they'll show you how to dance.

Get in a crowd and just jump up and down with the rest of them while looking around is really the best way to see how other people are dancing.

Oh man I love to Dance! I do The Cha-cha, I tango, I can Watlz, Mombo, and do the Salsa! Man is it a Chick magnet. Other guys might say stuff like it's dumb and gay, but the girls like it when you know how to have fun the right way! None of that "white man dancing" (rock back and forth for a slow dance, I mean yeah it is good and all, when you are trying to be romantic, but if you are just dancing, you need to know the real stuff!)

i love dancing, but i'm really really uncoordinated. as soon as the moves become slightly complicated, I hit the other person in the face...

firstly... DDR is only about the legs... but if you only do that in a nightclub.. well.. youll look a little weird and out of place...

I only dance in private and it is even dancing....I just stand up and sing(which I do horribly). I don't like to dance because..well, I stink and I do get made fun of and I am nnot in the mood to really put up with that. Plus, this may sound stupid, but when I dance I just get depressed and feel lonely.

Are you sure you can't dance. A while ago i didnt' think i could dance, but when i went to a club...i realized that i COULD shake what my mama gave me XD...:think: actually now that i think about it...my mama doesn't have one :blink: anyway, i can do all kinds of stuff. Get people to show you how, i learned how to breakdance from watching other people. Now i'm pretty good at it. Dirty dancing is what i'm real good at though XD surprisingly. After you get into the music it all works out. lol.

@marlon - when you've got girls surrounding you in a circle you don't really need to dance. That's probably the easiest situation to be in.

@asen - how the heck can you learn how to breakdance by watching others?! Looks hard. hehe I'll dirty dance with ya if you want.XD

How well you can dance actually depends on how well you can let go of your inhibitions. Insecure people don't really like dancing (no offence to anyone who is). To dance, all you have to do is relax your whole body and move it to the music. Loosen every joint so that your movements are fluid. Make sure you move in time with the beat and "feel" the music. Even if you look stupid dancing, people will assume you're drunk anyway so they don't really care. Nobody taught me how to dance. You just figure it out after a while. There's a saying about dancing but I'm not sure if it's appropriate to say it. I'll put it below.

Yeah...That is how it is...It just feels weird. But DDR is better(It is the only time I can beat my sister at dancing. :heh:)

hey som1 finally no how I feel. So far this school year, I've been to two dances and all I did was watch other people dance. I feel very weird and all if I even bother try to dance.

haha this is embarrassing, but i would put music on in my bedroom and dance in front of the mirror...hey it paid off because people said i dance alright, but its really easy (for girls at least) just sway your hips and move your arms about....but not like spastically

The only dances that I know how to do are the line dancing we do in school and "Sinawali" from Filipino Weekend. Otherwise, I simply suck at dancing.

i mostly breakdance. I tried some formal ballroom-ish dancing at some weddings but i think it was hard enough just to do the fox trot, so i'll stay away from that sort until i'm 35+.

I only known how to slow dance. other then the time my mom taught me how to Polka when waiting for the bus to pick us up from the air prot. wow was that embaressing to learn to polka with your mom. so I only know how to slow dance. one dance I went to I went and watched vegetails with all the little kids. (that was really fun) it was the vegetails sing along songs and other then the factor that the little kids couldn't hold a note it was a blast.
