Gothic, hmm.

Well I don't listen to much if any gothic music. May I suggest Antony and the Johnsons? He isn't deathly dark, his voice is sweet but he uses it in a dar way.

Malice Mizer.... and Moi Dix Mois, hands down.. the former being more famous than the other. For Malice Mizer I recommend the Merveilles and Bara no Seidou eras.

They're both Japanese visual kei bands. Their music are truly gothic. And yes they are awesome. <3

Also..

to English speaking ears alot of Japanese visual kei bands and artists would be considered 'gothic', so to speak, albeit most consider themselves just rock bands, rather than goth.

And might I add...try some of the older I guess what one would call "gothic" bands....Some of The Cure's music is good or Joy Division. I'm more of a Rave music fan, so I don't listen to tons of metal and rock ^.^;

And might I add...gothic music is a total oxymoron of what gothic REALLY means XD

Gothic was a time period which was actually pretty well off and it was a type of building/art style. It was also a Germanic tribe language. o_o

It's also a type of moth. XD

The Cure or Joy Division aren't gothic. Their music's pretty bleak, though.

ooh malice mizer and moi dix mois!
hehehe.. i have a few of there stuff.... i am now getting all their albums and stuff =D
my fav MM song is Kyomu No Chuu De No Yuugi Dais
no idea what that means.. buts its a really cool song
mana has such talents! seriously!
like in the song... he starts off with the piano doing that thing he does... and he adds in atmosphere (he loves atmosphere lol) then he introduces the.. umm organ? (not an organ.. its a harpsichord? i dunno really) and then it crashes with a beat and evyerhting (literally a crash lol)
and slowly it goes into somwhat of a louder more intense section where the choir is introduced! then they get a short little solo part with the harpsichord... sorta gloomy yet powerful
and as the song keeps going, in and out and back and forth... such a battle in itself... the choir hits up a notch and introduces men and.. i dunno... its a really cool song XD

and me fav moi dix mois song is mephisto waltz
this song is really good... its slow.. waltz like... yet very dark at the same time.. its a soft song yet it poses the darkness too.. and the singer does a gREAT job in this song... he needs to sing with a calm soothing voice yet also hitting some high notes.... and he does a great job of it... anyhoo

thanx guys.. ill go look at some of those bands soon =D

but does anyone know the meaning of the name malice mizer?
moi dix mois means - my ten months... but what does ten months mean? :heh:

Malice and misery -- their answer answer to the question "what is human?"

..only time will tell what meaning Me Ten Months bear.

And yes Mana is very talented isn't he? <3

Well, if by gothic you mean Screamo, or scream until your vocal cord breaks kind of music, then I think it is kick as.. Favorite ones are, Underoath, Atreyu, Cradel of Filth and umm... Throw down.

I liked some of gothic music. I went to a live performance of 4 gothic singers, the first impression i have about gothic music is energetic. Everyone is hyped up and got high on music, i think it's amazing (the atmosphere). But i wouldn't listen to gothic music at home, only live shows.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure what to recommend you, this thread is rather confusing lol. But I will try to help you as much as I can because I used to be into some of that music (if it's what I think your talking about).

As mentioned, Cradle of Filth
Malice Mizer, you might like them.
hmm, that's all I can think of, unless you want some metal music which I used to be into a while back, i can give you a big list lolz.

I'm not sure what Gothic music sounds like.... but I'm guessing it's those dark tunes with strange scales....
The "Gothickest" I can get with my anime-ness is.... Mai HiME's "Last Moment" (PS game song)... or Ali Project's songs ^^;;.

haha you know i always ask people dressed in "gothic" clothing, "what is goth? and what's with the fashion statement?" and i never get a straight forward answer out of them. i always get some answer about something about darkness, anarchy, and heavy metal.

GRRR! I REALLY hate Goth stereotypes!!! They make me disgusted how stupid people always think we sell our souls to Devils and all that. Well, I dont at least. Yeah, so what if Im into witchcraft. Oooh boy.....

Anyways sorry bout the outburst...... :(

I <333 Gothic music. Theres alot of bands I really like out there that think their Gothic but their not... TRUE Gothic bands would most definetely be Cradle Of Filth and ESPECIALLY Moi Dix Mois, Phantasmagoria, and Metis Gretel. Duuude. MDM's Front et Baiser OWNS.
