Three reasons I do not have the game.

#1: It's in Korean. I can't read korean.
#2: You have to pay to play. My parents would not spend money like that. I don't have an allowance either
#3: Time. I don't have enough of it. Studying 11 hours a day during the summer. Even more during the school year. Plus, I have Gunbound to worry about.

well the problem is iRO is such a small percent of Gravity's market

last I heard jRO has over 500,000 subscribers. kRO, cRO, tRO all are in close persuit. iRO has less than 20,000.

This explains why iRO is always the last to recieve updates, new servers, etc. It just doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. Cater to 2 million customers or 20k? Frankly, I'm surprised that Gravity hasn't dropped iRO altogether.

That said, RO is pretty fun. I used to play a rediculous amount when I was in school; now I don't play as much. The bots used to irritate me, but unless they KS or loot they don't bother me much anymore. What does bother me is that Gravity could easily prevent them, even using something as simple as a rotating client CRC check.

u could always find a priv server, but i cant really solve ur 3rd reason

RO is a fun game but u get sick of it if u play iRO becuz its so crappy. it takes them like 2 months to get updates from kRO to iRO sakray, and thats just for testing. i prefer playing private servers, even tho they only have like 100 people max. the private server i played on had 50x/50x/50x (50 times exp/jexp/drop rate) custom items, 2-2 classes before iRO had them, and clothes dyes.

actually.. kRO is still a littl' bigger than jRO.. but then they're so big a few k's don't matter XD

there are all these servers around southeast asia that are slightly crappier than poor iRO, like phillines, malaysia, etc.. the thing is: with all these new RO servers popping up all over the world, iRO should really fold their crappy hand.

They got the world championships coming up soon, and guess which RO has the biggest advantage: kRO.. =_= with their latest updates, its so biased

I met a few of the Playmates guild at Anime Expo 2004, and saw most of XGMR: http://solsar.com/gallery/ax2004_ro/DSC01250

(for those of you on Loki, I'm sure you know who they are)

My friend just started up his own private server and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of a site that helps teach you to program the NPCs? This is kinda directed at Angelic since he's the only one who says he has his own server.

It depends on what server software you use ~ I use eAthena and got a lot of info from their forum.

I use athena, and yeah.. go to their forums and look up on the help threads.

then, open up an existing NPC, start playing with it, values, etc..
open up another, continue, and learn what they mean..
and then try to program something simple(like an npc that says "hello" or "byebye" depending on player's choice)
and well.. thats how I ended up writing npcs

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that's the program he was running so I'll have to check those out.

Edit: Sorry Kou, just saw your post. That's a great idea. I can't believe I didn't think of that (that's how I've learned most other types of programming)

I love this game very much ~ :D I find it very nice to play, since I enjoy MMORPG. I play the mRO version in Penril server. Yes, it's pay to play but I like the system of pay to play for mRO version. I wonder is it the same as the rest of the versions.

They have daily reload card, which per card, you can only play up to 24 hours. It's divided into 2, which means, if you can't play for 24 hours, you can play for 12 hours first, then continue on another 12 hours for some other day.

Other than that, there's point reloading system and monthly access packages.

Is it the same as yours?

Gand

iRO just has 1, 3 or 6 month packages that you buy via credit card or paypal

whats the difference between athena and aegis?

Neko Koneko
July 13th, 2004, 08:41 am
They are different programs. I believe Aegis uses MS SQL, while eAthena comes in a txt version (all data is stored in .txt files) and a version that works with MySQL.

Neerolyte
July 16th, 2004, 02:16 pm
there's eAthena .TXT and eAthena .SQL

Aegis and eAthena is just server difference...um....i believe eAthena has more custom stuff than Aegis or Weiss. But it's not as stable...

my friend is hosting a eAthena server right now...at the beta testing stage...anyone want to join? We seriously need feedback, cuz after beta testing, and fixing up some bugs...we're gonna advertise.
